2 pointsLooks like two compression rods are serviceable. With bushings. The firewall VIN patch might be intact. The car can be saved! (That's a troll comment. Couldn't resist.)2 points

1 pointI have seen a couple of these dual pick-up distributors, but didn't pay all too much attention to them. I now see a couple of mistakes in the pick-up wiring in my drawing which I now corrected. TIU280Z1976_REV2.pdf1 point

1 pointBelieve it or not I met KWS and his then girlfriend, now wife, Mel Gibson's daughter. He came to my little town to record with Jerry "Boogie Man" McCain at a small private Blues Bar owned by a friend of mine. Duble Trouble was the backup band. He called me an hour before the taping started and said come on up, but don't say a word. It was Kenny's 30 something birthday and she had a cake and I was standing around the table when he blew out the candles. EDIT: I just saw he was born 6/12/77, so it was his 29th birthday. One of my lifes all time great memories.1 point

Stroker 3.1
1 pointhttp://datsunspirit.com/project-pumpkin-patch/ I think I get a little excited when I think about this new technology. This Z is basically a restomod already. Camber plates, coil overs, Wilwoods front and rear. I’ve got another 72 (orange) that remains fairly stock.....I think I’m going FI ITB's and I can’t wait!1 point

1 pointMark, You have basically the Fed model with a dual pickup. You can use one pickup (green or red) with the brown, and it will work fine. The white one is for the temperature switch, but the HEI module won't use that. The FED/Canadian models hed a retarded timing when cold. This diagram should help. TIU280Z1976_REV1.pdf1 point- 1976 280Z Restoration Project
1 pointThe two extra wires are for the extra pickup coil in the distributor. You'll lose one if you convert to the GM HEI module. It will only cause a low idle during warm-up, in between the time that the engine gets fully warm and the AAR closes. The extra pickup coil advances the timing when the engine is cold, increasing idle RPM. The FSM has great diagrams of the TEI's, and Saridout's wiring diagram has the colors, if they're not in the FSM.1 point- Deja Vu: 1971 Restoration
1 pointI added some more soundproofing to the floor pan. Looks a bit nicer this way. Still need to clean off some of the overspray on the vinyl on the right. I cleaned up the antenna. The antenna would not work when I hooked it up to my 12V power supply. I took it apart and cleaned up the motor area that contacts the brushes. Also opened up the cable area and cleaned that up. Quite a bit of rust in there. I used electrical spray cleaner to clean the motor and cable area. I also applied a bit of lube to the cable before closing things back up. Then ran it up and down a couple times to spread the lube. Antenna operates nicely now . I cleaned up the old parts a bit but they are pretty oxidized. I need to go through my stash and see it I have some nicer parts, so just put the antenna in loosely for now.1 point- worth saving? VIN:HLS3003595

Can't really go wrong any or all three of these - https://www.amazon.com/Rebuild-Your-Nissan-Datsun-Engine/dp/1931128030 https://www.amazon.com/Modify-Your-Nissan-Datsun-Engine/dp/1931128049 https://www.amazon.com/How-Restore-Your-Datsun-Z-Car/dp/19311280221 point- Replacement Booster Check Valve Collar/Insulator
The red plastic collar around my check valve has seen better days. On my series-1 Z it had a black rubber collar around the check valve and looked new. Does anyone know where to find these? I hate to buy a whole new valve when I just want to replace the collar. I looked around at Home Depot for awhile and did not really find anything. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you!1 point- Replacement Booster Check Valve Collar/Insulator

1 pointWonder if that belonged to a member? Patcon, I was trying to figure out what that was. I thought maybe it was a splash pan, but that didn't seem right. Unbelievable to think that that was the head.1 point- worth saving? VIN:HLS3003595

Some Caig DeoxIT for all those electrical connections that are slowly corroding.1 point- Brand new owner - need help w/ Christmas gift ideas for my kid
25 years or so ago, my buddy and I each had Z cars. I had (and still have) a UniSyn and my friend used the one you linked. For whatever reason, I never liked his and have stuck with my trusty UniSyn ever since. At times, it feels like a crappy device, but it has always done the job.1 point- Brand new owner - need help w/ Christmas gift ideas for my kid
Look at vendors on my website http://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com Many of them have Christmas gift ideas (MotorSport Auto and ZCarDepot to name a couple). MSA has a fender cover with a Z emblem. A good timing light and a good multimeter are very useful. This multimeter can also be used as a tachometer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U3HFFH. That can be useful for tuning. Also a carburetor synchrometer is a must for the old SU carburetors: https://www.google.com/search?q=dellorto+syncrometer&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjj4fnXu4_YAhVK4IMKHZVpDLwQ_AUICigB&biw=1920&bih=949. Finally, videos from Z Therapy ( @Bruce Palmer) can help him keep his Z running in top shape. Don't forget feeler gauges for valve adjustments.1 point- Hardway's Red Rocket 1972 240z Build Thread
Last Sunday I officially waived my personal banner of "Mission Accomplished" as I made it out to the final Cars and Coffee of 2017 in the Z. The trip there and back was drama free and the Z got its own fair share of lookers. It was great to hang out with Mike W. and our buddy Kyle McKenzie. The previous owner of the car was there too and was happy to see it out, taking in all the work I had done, and being enjoyed by its new owner. Once the sun came out it got packed fast with lots of foot traffic. My apologies for the poor picture quality as it was nearly impossible to get a picture of our row without people passing by. My goal for 2018 is to start using my DSLR with a glare hood to get better pictures. For now, phase 1 is complete and I am making plans for phase 2.1 point- LMAO
1 pointSo, you think your neighbors would ausfahrt to the dealership just because of a little auspuff problem? Gott in Himmel! Gotta love those German words that bring out the eight year old in all of us. Dennis1 point- Series 1 Update
1 pointFlares were never a plan for the car. I went through a set of wheels before this that were just a little too wide and a little too big that rubbed and hit the fender and cracked it good so I decided to go with flares. Since that first set of wheels I'm on a different wider and bigger set now. I have the front end of the car jacked up just a bit high to get a jack under the air dam easily but can lower it down a bit for a closer fit with the front and rear ones. It's on coilovers but has room to go lower. Being in and out of the garage, I have it at a height where I can work on it and get a jack under easily. Mirror is from yahoo japan like most of the rare bits and pieces!1 point - saturday night music thread
