Will do Site.....BTW, I've got a new name for you instead of siteunseen.....AlabamaZama! Thought of that the other night when I was sucking down a few brews! Whatcha think? BTW.....All 12 lash pads are .160's.....could easily take .170's as you can see on the wipe patterns in the pic. Maybe AlaZama!

Geometried the head with my Stage III Isky cam.....wipe patterns are checked. Will take it to Eiji Monday....he'll cc the chambers, assemble the head, then time the cam. I'll bring her home and finish it up in the next week or so.
  3. This update is a little late but I got the new tires on the Z. I wanted something that would fill the wheel wells without making it look like an off road vehicle. I ended up going with 195/70/14's made by Douglas. They are sold by Wal-Mart and at $40 per tire, they had great reviews, and at only $9 per wheel for mounting and balancing, it was the best deal in town. Plus, they are made in the USA! I have not had a chance to drive it much as I am working on another project but I think its great way to wrap up the project. I had seriously thought about buying some 15 or 16 inch wheels but by the time I added tires my total cost would be anywhere from $800 - $1,000. What do you think?
  4. Two tips. Remove the strut bracket and heat the panel with a hair dryer to make it more flexible.

I love it! . I've read a good bit on thinning the lash pads. It's all in the flat files I buy, rough/medium and a pair of leather gloves. AlaZama out...

You have to let us know how the quarter mile runs turn out. Looking back at your photos I see ".150. I saved some money with Schneider but they sent a bag of ".190s.
  8. I was thinking but not typing it but I would remove the console if it were mine. I believe I may have a little bit of that ocd too.
  9. 100 bucks for the swap is cheap. The $200 charge for the antenna install must include the antenna itself. If you don't have a dedicated switch to lower and raise the antenna, the Retrosound radio has a lead to automatically raise/lower the antenna when you power the radio on/off. If you're OCD like me, you may want to cover the exposed plastic surfaces of your console and HVAC trim with blue masking tape so they don't get scratched by a careless audio technician (redundant perhaps). Do warn them that those old plastic bits are quite brittle and must be handled with lots of care. If any panels get scratched or cracked those 100 bucks won't seem that cheap anymore. BTW, I purchased from Crutchfield online. Great service, better prices and choices of different knobs and finishes. https://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/retrosound_sale.html
  10. A little bit of love and it will ready to go! https://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/cto/6135901613.html
  11. Let's see ..... I'm in the area, there's others in the Cleveland Z Club with classic Z's. I believe Chris Karl is restoring a 280Z. Exactly what parts do you have? Take pics and post them, don't scrap them.
  12. Lots of speculation over why these shades were used. No definitive explanation that I'm aware of.
  13. The stock 240Z license plate lamp (as shown) housing have metal shield blocking the bulbs from directly shining down to the bumper. I'm not sure if the 280Z setup is similar.

I have a Tilton 10.5lb 225mm with the $100 Exedy clutch kit that isn't noisy at all. My 280 with the same clutch kit on an OE 225mm flywheel is noisy as hell when the throwout bearing has the load but I beat it down with the old bearing when I installed it onto the collar. The next time I had a machine shop press the new on, no noise. EDIT: I used a bench vise and the old bearing instead of a hammer to press the first one on, sorry.
  16. I was 23 when I bought my 1972 Z for a really great price of $4144. It was the most I had ever paid for a car that is now considered a classic. The car was in perfect condition when I got it. I still have the Z today with no plans to ever sell it. I turn 69 this year.. Then . Now Phil Smith

  19. Thanks guys, its quite nice to finally be making progress with the car and getting out and about in it. Doing road trips always makes new memories, hopefully the car will be ready for the Le Mans 24 Hours this June and we'll be going down in it but only time will tell. The irony is it was in Le Mans a year ago that the whole process of buying this car begun. Site unseen yes that would be considered a moat, it extends the entire way around the castle and acts as a fortification. Also not many people know but they were also designed to prevent an enemies from tunnelling under the walls as they would be flooded. Below is a link to an image of the castle to give you a better idea, if you google 'Leeds Castle' there's lots of info. Leeds-Castle-1495.jpg I suppose there's not really anything in the way of castles in the US given its history, only really Civil Wars Forts maybe?
