  1. Got one of those new fangled dash cams.
  2. Hi, ClassicZCars community. Our 21st annual Z-Car show has a new date and location. It’s Saturday, May 14th at Anaheim Stadium. We chose a different date so as not to conflict with other shows, and a larger space to accommodate more cars. In addition to Z-Cars from 1970 to 2016, we’re also inviting Nissan Skylines, GTRs, 510's, and Roadsters. Best of all, entering one or more in the show is free. This is a “thank you” to the Z community for all your support over the years. We have a weekend of special events planned. More information will be posted soon. In the meantime, check our online store for show details at thezstore.com. Thanks.
  3. And to go with the leather door skins, the leather interior just arrived from Interior-innovations. Very nice work,
  4. In fact I have several issues; National Geographic, GRM, Z Sport Mag.... This may also explain why I am no longer allowed any mind altering substances other than exhaust fumes.
  5. Just got a Delivery from the great guys at MSA today. First of all a new rear weld-in valance: And a set of rear lower corner valances. They're from a 280Z since none are made for the 240Z. All of these panels are not the best fitment and quality but the best available ones. So my panelbeater has to use them just as base for his final product. I wonder why nobody makes better quality panels sine these would sell like hot burritos and there are so many of these cars around the world beeing restored currently... Last but not least some small bits like the dustcaps, cotter pins and some washers. Now almost have all parts together to get the wheel bearings installed back to the strut housings...
  6. Ticking is normal, to a certain extent. Only jumping in to save you some money, before you order parts. If your lash is correct now, it will be the same after you swap out parts. It's the lash that allows the ticking.
  7. Some recommend laying down 1"-wide masking tape around all edges of a panel before applying the stripper. This keeps the stripper from finding its way into any edge seams. Afterwards, they remove the tape and use mechanical means to remove the paint along the panel edges. Hadn't heard the tip about using paint thinner to neutralize/remove residue. There was a good review and how-to of paint stripping that appeared in a British resto-mag a couple of years back. Key points made: They found a noticeable variation in effectiveness across the 7 or 8 brands tested. The best worked in a single application and in a matter of a hour or so. The lest effective had to be left overnight and required a second application. Effectiveness was improved by scoring the paint with a dull razor blade before applying the stripper. Cross-hatch, one-inch spacings. Try not to score the underlying metal. Effectiveness was also improved by laying a sheet of poly over the panel after the stripper had been applied. They also noted that, in Britain (maybe the US too), environmental issues had forced a change in stripper formulations ~ 10 years ago, so they're not as aggressive as in days gone by.
  8. That plan has a few cracks in it though...
  9. Dyno Testing Right At The Big Car Show! MCE Racing will be bringing their custom built DYNOJET 224x Dynamometer trailer right to Angel Stadium of Anaheim during the big car show! 10. Looks like one of those new-fangled 401.Z retirement plans!
  11. Members Only Buttons and snaps! Styling, what is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING, say it again now I wore chocolate and hiking boots with yellow shoestrings. Looked like a cricket but had a new girl every weekend. It was the 280!!!!
  12. And, also, no selfies just wearing stringback gloves. We need to set some limits On the other hand, so to speak, does anyone have old photos of how they really did dress when their Z was new? There must be a few of us who still have Members Only jackets stashed in the back of the closet or in a box in the attic. Dennis
  13. Woah, woah, woah now... You're talking about just the clothes, right? Nobody wearing them. I just want to make that perfectly clear before this thread takes an ugly (and I mean uuuugg-ly) turn.
  14. Fully disassembled, inspected, and rebuilt to factory specifications set of early Datsun 240z 4-screw Hitachi SU Carburetors, E88 intake manifold, balance tube, heat shield, springs, linkage, linkage to the firewall and air filter housing with OEM Nissan air cleaner/filter. As an option, you may choose the customer K&N filter setup instead of the OEM orange filter setup, or have both for an additional $50. Domes and pistons are polished and bodies have been painted with high-temp Eastwood fuel-resistant paint and baked to cure. Also included is a Vacuum gauge installed on the balance tube to help diagnose engine problems and tune the carburetors This is a perfect kit for the 260z and 280z owners who want to upgrade to the reliable and high performance round-top carbs. Ready to bolt on and begin using! Professional installation is recommended as fine tuning may be required depending on the condition of your engine, gasoline used, and other variables not related to the carburetors. As with anything that is 43+ years old, these are not perfect but are great performers. This set is being sold as-is for $750, shipped anywhere in the USA. PayPal friendly and ready to ship within 1 business day of payment. More Pictures @ http://jarvas240z.blogspot.com/2015/10/240z-round-top-carburetor-kit-for-sale.html .
  15. Kats, I think my "likes" button finger was worn out this morning! Thanks for pics and updates.
  16. What a neat story. I am one of those kids too except I pitched a fit and ended up with the model but my Dad wouldn't let me play with it. He put up on the "top shelf" thank goodness or I would have destroyed it.
  17. It's the ZG-specific towing bracket, as Kats pointed out previously...
  18. Z-Bash 2016 Track Day Announced! The New Z-Bash will have a track event on Sunday, May 15th, 2016. While we've hosted HPDE's in the past, we're joining forces with Aaron Bitterman and Speed Ventures for their professionally-run, safety-conscious, blast of a day at The World Famous Streets Of Willow Springs. Speed Ventures always has well-run events, and we're hoping to have as many Z's there as possible to "take over" the Streets (because that would be just plain awesome). There are limited spaces, so sign up early for a discount and to join the Z takeover! See our track day page for more details.
