  1. First do the wash job in the shade, if possible, then dry car with towel. I have found this mostly deters those hard water spots. Have not done this on my Z yet, but on my daily driver I experimented by mixing car wash soap (any brand) and a small handful of automatic dishwasher soap to wash car. Wow, cleanest result I ever got. And it seemed to soften the water as well, which helps.
  2. I always use the 24F as well. Never did like the positive that close to the fender. I have a hold down just like yours that I bought off Ebay years ago. It did not have a 90 degree bend. It was made in two pieces and welded together to make a sharp 90.
  3. +1. I did the same with mine. Their Napa red looked like a perfect match.
  4. I have a used 76 280Z FSM if anyone wants it. All complete just dirty on the outside.
  5. I had an different overheat problem years ago. Around town the temp was normal. On the highway it would stay normal until I went any speed over 60 mph. It would easily climb to 3/4 on the gauge. I finally decided to take the radiator to a shop and see if cleaning would help. He called me back when he got to it. He had hooked it up to test flow percentage. It flowed only 35%. Only a re-core would fix that. He put a triple core in it for me. What a difference. Drive as hard as you want and temp stays right at 1/2. Was pretty expensive though.
  6. Nice Vintage race motor for someone. If the price is right. https://www.ebay.com/itm/72-Datsun-240Z-Bob-Sharp-built-engine-NEVER-RUN-Stored-indoors-35-years/253228268208?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  7. Found my invoice. I purchased p/n C92PD Custom Polycotton Cover with driver door mirror pocket. Mine is stored inside. Looks well made and should last a long time.
  8. Its cold and wet here. Put the Z up on jackstands. Installed the new Covercraft fitted car cover. I'm done for the year. Storage time again. Probably end of April 2018 before its back on the ground.
  9. Personally those carb to manifold gaskets look like junk. If o-ring type. Toss them. They like to pop out if not installed carefully. I have replaced a couple at the track for guys having issues. Install bakelite style with gaskets on both sides. Then start your tuning all over.

Good idea. Mine is weak also. Ever since I installed a rear spoiler it added enough weight it no longer wants to stay open.
  12. That looks similar to a Ford T5 shifter. A person could find one cheap and weld Ford top portion to the ZX shifter. Not sure if it would work. Would have to experiment unless someone has already done it.
  13. Boxing it up tonight. You should have it soon.

What are you saying? You going to put the dented one on the car rather than find a better one?
  15. I also have a ZX shifter I will never use. If any one else needs it.
  16. I still do not have a AFR for my triples. Still on my list. I have gotten the plug reading to a nice light tan color with out it so far. Are you running an electric fuel pump? Stock mechanical pump? Both together? Do you have a FPR installed? 5 psi is a little too high. It could be actually even higher. I am not too keen on some of those gauges. Float levels definitely need to be verified as well before anything else.
  17. I can remember the old days when people would say its got a 3/4 race cam. Still have no idea what that meant. Sort of a way I guess to say it had a aftermarket cam. But really didn't tell you anything about the specs.
  18. Bring the Datsun. https://www.themitty.com/#about
  19. The retainer color looks like Racer Brown p/n LSA-312 to me but do not seem to be the same shape.

To be safe remove the bumper with the shocks attached if you can. No one will buy them separate anyway and will just go to the scrap yard with the rest of the car when he is finished with it.
  21. I have a nice straight camshaft spray bar available. The issue is the ends are a little loose. I am not able to braze myself but maybe some one has the equipment and skill. Just sitting here taking up space.

What a stroke of luck. I hope everything is as good as it looks. I was wondering if the front bumper shocks are the same for both the early and late model 280Z. Did they bolt the late bumper to her early bumper shocks or did they remove her early style and install the late style shock with the bumper? Yes get any hard to find interior parts and switches as spares.

That seems high to me. I can get that for less than half of that at the yard by me but I would have to pull it myself. A good fender should be sourced too as the cost of repair typically is more than the replacement part and the result is full of bondo.
  24. Nope not me. I would not even pay half that price for a fat bumper 260Z. Even if it had only half the miles. Good luck but that is a car that will not be much of an investment as far as I am concerned.
