  1. Kats, did you ever see this one? 240sx KA24 4 cyl head (well two heads cut up to make a 6cyl special head) then bolted to an overbored L28 and stroked.... then twin turbo's!!! L31DETT A young bright kid in Phoenix did it many years ago..Bryan Blake. His dad owned a machine shop and was into drag racing!
  2. Thanks Guy! Hmmm I trust both you and Brian Little but he gives 46cc here: http://datsunzgarage.us/p79/ and you have verified with two heads so I will default to you and update the tool... however can you please confirm both of your heads were not shaved before you received them? Here is the revised tool: Z Engine Planner S30 Engine Modeller V4.zip
  3. I have a period correct mirror used in 432R. No knob (light weight for racing) 96321-E4100
  4. It is good they are all the same. I think the test gauge is the problem. If you have the spindle in the normal spot, try starting it up!
  5. After you finish, double check every "mouse trap" spring to ensure it is clipped correctly. Wrenches can bump them off.
  6. Hoover found this on their website. So~$400I would guess.
  7. Each cam lobe has to be close to straight up to measure the lash. Look at the picture below. An easy way to do this is to put the transmission out of gear and short the starter solenoid blade connector with the +12V starter terminal using a big flat screwdriver. (MAKE SURE IT IS NOT IN GEAR AND KEY IS NOT IN IGNITION). Watch the cam rotate and stop when the desired lobe is up. Oil will pump out of the head and eventually fill the head and drain out the rear right side of head so be prepared to wipe it. If you remove the plugs, there will be less battery drain.
  8. btw make sure the two small bolts are in the front of the head. They hold it to the timing cover.
  9. It is easy to reset. Just remove the 4 bolts on the oil pump. Be sure to lower the sway bar. It usually blocks the oil pump. Looks like your Sway bar is not installed yet so it will be easy.
  10. Lash on card is Cold lash. This means you can measure and adjust on your engine at room temperature. Stock Cold is: Intake 0.008" Exhaust 0.010" Yours is a bit larger.
  11. My Behr paint can lids are rusting!!! Crap metal. Just saw this too: https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-44738952
  12. Sometimes the lash spec is different from stock. For now just measure what you have on all 12 cold and note max/min.
  13. FYI: Bubbles is in our car club. Here are his two cars:
  14. I was looking for the lift and found this:
  15. Yup, your spindle seems to be off. Set crank to 0degrees (TDC). Pull the distributor, then share a photo of the top of the spindle, it should look like this:
  16. I want one! https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/cole-harbour/1977-alvis-striker-armoured-vehicle/1398383089?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
