To replace or not replace ball joint.
I never knew these baljoints can be taken apart.. as they are not that expensive i always installed a new set.. less than 100 euro's a set, orig. nissan parts. (No idea what they cost these days..) With new ones your not indanger to drive other people off the road, you sleep better.. ;-) Thanks Zed for that vid and the warning..

To replace or not replace ball joint.
It's just the law overhere... i can't help it..

To replace or not replace ball joint.
If the ball wears out it can come out of the sleeve and make the car completely uncontrollable, never seen that happen in reality? Over here in the Netherlands we have strict rules about them, over 1mm play (around that) means new baljoints! It's just for safety.. but hey in the Usa.. no problem offcourse..

New Fujitsubo Exhaust System to be Released
I asked my Fujitsubo dealer over here in the Netherlands if the exhaust fits the orig. header and he told me NO.. You need the special header.. he said. about 36-3800 euro i find it to much money for some pipes in stainless! Why not ask the dealer, he should know if it fits the L26.. i'm almost sure they will fit because they are made for a L24 and the L26 is a very simular head (E88).

To replace or not replace ball joint.
If there is more than 1 mm of play in the balljoints i would replace them, i believe nissan still have them? just look up the last part number and the dealer has the orig. part.. (If the balljoint comes apart.. someones life ends, would you take that risk?)

Where can i get a 1.1 bar radiator cap for a champion 3 row radiator?
Hi, Last year i bought some different caps also a 1,1 so i guess at a good autoparts store they have 'em.. should be no problem at all! What's wrong with this one? The picture doesn't tell me.. Is 1,1 Bar standard on a Z? my 300zx has 1,2 Bar, i checked that few month's ago. 240/260/280z i don't know can be 1,1 atm/ato/bar.. whatever.. 🙄 Take a look in the serv.manual.

Post Your Original Decal Pictures Here
I think.. the middle and the right one are the same toggle switches, the middle one is only a bit more dirty, a clean up with some soap and a nail brush makes them nice and the same.. btw, my 240z from 2-'71 has the left one. for as far i know it's the original one. It does not work as i always flatten the knob with my right knee! ;-) (as i'm 6 feet 4-5 or so..)

Engine rough running - at wits end
A s30 is not like the s130 chassis/configuration.. and if there is already a bit of fuel IN the pump that also could make a big difference. It has to do with pumping air or fluids, it's bad in pumping air.. But i do believe that the s30 is much better to start after it had a empty tank.. i once had a empty tank (s30/240z) and only 8-10 ltr fuel made it run in seconds. Héy Site, that picture reminds me of those vid's about the farm from Jeremy Clarkson, diddly squat farm.. (on Youtube) where toddlers play the rolls of all the people in the series!

Engine rough running - at wits end
Zed, i've seen it in my 280ZX serv.man. ! It says something like if you get the tank completely empty you have to fill it for at least 2/3 !! The pump will otherwise not prime! (I often get the impression that you people don't read your service manuals.. except Zed ofcourse..) It seems to have to do with communicating vessels.. so to be sure it works i have 50 ltr of fuel standing with my car as the fueltank is empty at the moment (280zx).

Z's on BAT and other places collection
In 1991 when i was restoring a 240z and still in 1998 these were standard as the hight of the usa indicators was to low.. After 2005 or so the rules changed and the usa indicators are allowed now in the Netherlands. (and elswhere?) What i found strange is that the torque in english is not in Newton meters (Nm) but in caveman lb/ft ?? HUH?? 😂

1971 HLS30-14938 "Lily" build
Yeah i know thát feeling.. it was only yesterday that i took a look at a combination of a drill/lathe and millingmachine.. but not really to buy one because it's all Chinese junk and i don't have really room for it/that! (And a bridgeport is a machine that needs a stable floor!)

Darn Tire Jockeys
Yesterday i warned a guy on a bicycle NOT to use his phone (he said for navigating) as it will cost him €480,- if he gets caught.. a few years ago a cycle racer almost drove over me wgen i was crossing the road.. i did this on purpose because i wanted to see if he noticed me.. he didn't and i shouted at him scaring the hell out of him! Personelly i think there must come a law where people have to put all their phones in a special pocket in the boot while driving, so they are not thempted to look at it! And if one still uses a phone while having a steering wheel of just a steer on the bike in hands i think the penalty should be €960,- (In our country cyclists are seen as drivers, and if they come from the right they have the right of way at an intersection of equal status!)

Darn Tire Jockeys
Also.. mechanics that check wheelbearings and stuff around the wheels with a tire iron and using the aluminum rims as a base to put force on something.. if i see that happen i'm asking him to stop or i'll put some force to something HE does not like! ;-) For the last 30 years i had a mechanic that did every APK (sort of MOT) every year on every car i have together with me and it has been GOLD. evry check-up costed me the standard 40 bucks and away i was, good for another year or even 2. Now these days cars of 50 years and older do not need any APK ( periodic roadworthiness inspection) .. and i think it's nonsens.. Our government thinks that people with that old cars are so much caring for their car that it does not need a inspection.. which i think should be at least every 5 years or so? In our country, things like shown in youtubes american " customers brought in" or something.. does not happen here.. i saw some cars in that "show" without any frooring in them and completely broken beams, gearboxes and and.. If a car in the netherlands has a rusty spot/hole as long as say 5 inches it's not roadworthy, it's illegal to drive that car any longer and you get high fines if you do. it first needs to get fixed properly!

Darn Tire Jockeys
story.. I always do tires myself in a friends shop.. he does my APK sort of MOT.. AND i'm ALWAYS PRESENT once a mechanic wanted to do to my 300zxtt what go's wrong with every 240z engine beams.. i was furius and it did not happen as i refused it. i really had to stop him! it would have ruined my perfect 300zxtt! BUT.. But we have a big tireshop here in the village.. I needed a new tire on my wheelbarrel.. So i took the old one off and cleaned up nicely my rim, sanded it and painted it the original red color.. I went with it to the tire shop and asked the boss himself if he had a tire for me, yes we have, give me the rim and i install it for you for free! I said: no not necessary! I rather do it myself! No,NO,... he insisted.. He ran from his office to the tire shop and started work, he had in no time the tire on, at least that's what he thought.. on the lower side the inner tube was still hanging out.. every body knows what happened next haha, luckely i was standing on the other side of the shop. he started to fill the innertube and .. KABOOOEEEMMM !!!!!!! that was the end of my own inner tire! Now i got a new inner and outer tire for the price of a outer wheelbarrel tire.. but it shows how much go's wrong at firms with decades of experience... At least he didn't scratch the new paint! 😊

KONI Sports for Classic Z's
Hi George, Not much experience with shocks, just do not forget to put some (used or old?) oil inbetween the chock and it's container.. it helps the cooling a lot! and it does not rust!
