Best sounding 240/280 exhaust
Fantastic description. Although I do have to disagree with your V8 comment:cheeky: Here's a pic of my system.

Wheel Size Question...
Like Mick said it's the width that requires mods. I remember asking one of the local tyre specialists what is the widest he could fit on my bog stock 240. He quoted me a comfortable 215 which is about 8.5in.

Sydney Z Club Concours
Woot! I'm there less one 240 Make sure you let me know if you're coming down Gav. It's an exciting month in Sydney. For those that are interested in hi-po cars do not miss out on the Supernats at the Creek this Sunday the 14th. It's on all day and I advise that you turn up just before midday to see Victor Bray rip up the strip in his show/burnout chev.

Besides the Zcar, what are your favorite cars?
That's no reason not to own a particular car Rick. No doubt early Camaros are a beautiful example of American muscle cars but for mine it doesn't hold a candle to the Fastbacks. Pure porn.....

Besides the Zcar, what are your favorite cars?
I love many many cars but to get to the point one car has a special place in my heart and has had so since my very early teen years. Mustang GT 500. :devious:

Interesting pics....
Hi Keith That second picture, I've been told, is called Fire Starter and it was taken about 300km from where I live in Australias capital city, Canberra. It is called Fire Starter because it sparked one of the many bush fires that claimed many homes just last year. I don't know how true that is but it got sent to me soon after the fires by a girl that I know who lives in Canberra.

Streetracing in Stockholm
:devious: :devious: I met mull while he was here in Sydney a few months ago and spent a bit of time with him. He has a passion for what he does and if he comes off a bit defensive it's because it's close to his heart. To have it called a cheap exercise is like calling a kid he's useless for trying a new sport. Keep at it Sven, you've got one fan right here.

Kart Racing
Hi Brett Yeah the kart came with everything I need except a trailer. Saved me alot of time and cash actually. It's got a clubman engine that's just been rebuilt so it should last a while cause I really I won't be giving it 100% right away. Just out of curiosity, how big was your yearly budget? If you don't want to answer that it's ok. Cheers

Kart Racing
Just put a deposit down on my first kart. It's a couple of years old but it's never been raced. It also comes with all the equipment I need like helmet, suit, stand etc and it was fairly cheap so I'm stoked. Oh, I'm also scared about my first drive. Should be interesting to say the least.

Kart Racing
Did you race them or was it recreational with your kids? I tell you, some of the young kids I've seen could show most people out on the roads how to drive.

Kart Racing
One thing I won't do is compromise my Z. It might take a bit longer to get the CV's converted and the extractors made up and the etc etc but I can't foget her. She won't let me. One of my friends that's been into karts for a while has told me that a few people really get into karts & just give up on their street car & sell it. Scary thought but I think I might be safe. Karting is not cheap as I'm begining to find out. I suppose it is the cheapest motorsport around but still expensive and once people get serious they are really spending a heap. Initial start up costs are a bit much but what can you do.

Kart Racing
Thanks Rick. I think I found my chassis today. Going back this weekend to check it out with someone experienced. Looks like a good one to me. I'll let everyone know how I go. Cheers

Ha ha. Stop playing with the yanks Rick.

Kart Racing
Hey Lachlan Instead of jumping in the deep end and buying a cart with no means to take it to the track etc I have somehow managed to control my impolsive shopping disorder and do it the right way. So, I'm getting the tow bar fitted, the cheap trailer and helmet, suit, gloves, boots etc and once I have all that I will buy the kart and be ready to practice for 6 months or more and then get my P's to race. One of my friends has been doing it for 6 years now so we'll be going together. That will definately be fun and his experience should cut my learning time in half.

Kart Racing
G'day Rick A kart flip never hurt no one, except for the 13yr old girl who was travelling up to 80km/h, flipped and died as a result of her kart landing on her. See story here. Yes, it is a dangerous motorsport but there are no thrills without any spills. A friend of mine was just telling me that after he flipped his kart he went faster than ever after recovering because he wasn't afraid anymore. The great thing abourt this sport is it teaches the young generation how to handle a moving vehicle and I'd feel alot safer on the road if more kids were doing it. And the young hoons you speak of; if they took their pent up frustration out on the track they wouldn't be doing it on public roads.

Kart Racing
As some of you may have noticed (yeah right:cheeky: ) I've been away for a little while. Reason being I've cought the kart racing bug and have been searching and researching for a suitable go kart to begin with. Anyone race or used to race or is thinking about racing go karts? Looks like a fantastic sport and some of the comparisons, stats and figures I've seen are mindblowing. These things are bloody fast and if thrills is your thing then check it out.

FUMES... Give me a break!
I get lots of fumes in my car. The worst kind are crank case fumes which are pretty toxic and I get them all the time. I think it's time for an oil catch can. I never realised how bad the fumes were until about two weeks ago. On top of that, the design of my extractors makes it impossible to prevent exhaust fumes. The torque bends the flange (horizontal) at the end of the extractor and when it bends back the pipes stay at a slight angle while the extractor itself is in the original position creating a small gap. I've hammered the flange back but it just happens again. The thread positioning is not helping the situation. Next extractors will definately have vertical flanges with a recess in the middle to further prevent leaks. The recess also means you can do away with gaskets but it's advisable to have a thin one just so that the flange doesn't get stuck together from the heat. It's weird that you don't get fumes with windows down but I suspect you will find your answer will have something to do with vacuum like Keith mentioned. If all else fails, have no fear, you will get used to them. Mine are so bad that I end up crying after a 30 minute trip and I'm still alive. Although I have developed a slight twitch and my skin is flaking a bit.:cheeky:

Semi-Stupid Distributor Question
Sorry Carl I can't help you mate but I thought I'd make you feel better. I don't have a clue what you are asking so it's not a stupid question at all. Or am I really simple in the head? Either way it's not a stupid question. Goodluck

thoughts on my new idea :)
I was at the Hot Rod show here in Sydney last month and House of Kolor had a rather huge exhibit (being sponsors and all) and their samples looked fantastic to say the least. Some cars featured their work and it is without a doubt amazing but would you get a daily driver painted like that? Never. Even a weekender? I wouldn't. I can just imagine a jelous idiot scrathing your car on purpose. Ka ching, there goes $4000 redoing the pannel/s. carguyinok said it, it's only for trailer queen rods.
