350 Chev
Thanks. I'm trying to track down the year of the chev through the engine number but I haven't found the book that references Chevrolet ID numbers. No JTR mounts were used, it's all custom. I'm not sure if the JTR stuff will work as we've got the steering on the opposite side but with minimum mods it should be ok. I've got an idea of the power it should put down but I don't want to quote it until I see dyno sheets myself. I've only owned the car for a short while and didn't build it myself unfortunately. Not too sure about the VIC rules but you can find out on the VIC roads website I'd say. Cheers

I'd go one silver stripe about 6 inches wide on the opposite side of the drivers side. ie. not in the middle of the car. I'd like a screaming SR20 over an RB. The SR engines have been proven over and over and can handle double the stock power output with little (if none at all) internal strengthening. Having said that, bugger both those engines and get a V8. Cheap as chips and hell-of-alot-of fun.

Help; Driveline Problem
I couldn't find the broken uni and I did take it to a driveshaft mechanic on Saturday but he couldn't help me either. He did say it definately sounds like a uni problem though. I'm not going to bother taking the shafts out to find the broken one as I want to convert it to cv's. Does anyone know if the Z31 shafts Gav was talking about bolt right in? If not, which ones do? Cheers

350 Chev
Thanks Sam. Car handles very well after alot of work spent on it by the previous owner (2 owners ago). As far as getting an 8 in a 240, there's not that much custom work involved (less than most other cars because of the big engine bay for such a small car). Check with your road authority to see if it's legal to put an 8 in your 240 because here in NSW I was not allowed to do it so I bought one that was engineered pre-94 when they changed the laws here. If you have any questions I might be able to help you so email me but the guys on this forum and on hybridz know way more than I do. crudsta@hotmail.com George

Help; Driveline Problem
That's what I was hoping. Thanks. I wonder what keeps on making that noise though. I thought the crack was the caps or joint breaking off and it'll only happen twice (one for each side) and then the shaft would come loose? Anyway, it's holding on so I'll just take it in to this driveshaft place on Saturday and see what comes of it. Might try to get some cv's made up. Cheers guys

Help; Driveline Problem
As some of you might remeber I snapped a uni-joint a short while ago. Last night I thought I did another one but now I'm not so sure. Here's what happened; I was giving the car a bit of a workout for about half an hour and arriving at my destination I put it in reverse to park it. I didn't accelerate really harshly as I was in reverse but I heard the same type of crack like the time the uni-joint broke. Anyway, I had dinner and proceeded to go home expecting the car to seize up any minute so I was driving well below the speed limit and staying out of the way of traffic just in case. Nothing happened until I was close to home when it happened again but this time it was in first gear accelerating up a hill. At this point I started to drive really slowly practically trying to creep it home before the half shaft came off. I got home safely and today I got under there to have a look but could see nothing wrong. I didn't check the drive shaft joints as I was running out of time so I just thought I'd drive it to see if I can snap it. Gave the car a thrashing in the forward gears and nothing happened. I thought I'd try reverse and I heard the same crack under heavier than normal load. Repeated it again one more time, happened again and then I gave up. Initially I thought it was the uni-joints but now I'm not so sure. Wouldn't the shaft have fallen off by now? And why would it make the same noise over and over, it can't be cracking over and over right? The only thing I can think of is the diff mount??? Any thoughts? Cheers ps, sorry about the story:cheeky:

What a proper BUGGER of a week.
Yeah I thought the Blues might step up again to take the overall lead but it looked like their spirit was gone after winning the series. Shame they couldn't give the spectators a closer match although I'm sure all the toads loved every minute of the slaughter.

The maroons absolutely tore them apart tonight. But we still won the series.:devious:

I'm glad you are both enjoying it. It has to be one of the most rewarding sports around imho. I fondly recall how I got hooked on the game after playing for a short while. It only took one swing hitting the sweet spot, not feeling whether the ball was struck or not and seeing the little white dot rise and rise. I'm hooked for life! I'm about the same handicap. Used to play off a 25 a couple of years back but being out of practise I'd say I'm more of a 30 now. My only downfall is lack of power.

Off topic. What do you play off Rick? I've just recently got back into golf (watching it on the tele:cheeky: ). Now all I have to do is dust off the clubs and get out there again. I'm going to join the local this spring and get practicing again. I realised how much I miss it when I held a club just recently.
