I read up on that before I got my 240. A thicker head gasket was the conclusion from what I remember. I hear ya' on the chart. What got me doing it was 2 at a time come up so the chart cuts my time in half. Great when it's hot.

I bought mine at Lowe's in the plumbing department. Just a few dollars if I remember right. I can't say 100% but it seems like it's a 2" cap. Tight going on but it's rubber and stretched to fit.

What paint gun are you using? I used a cheap Harbor freight gravity hvlp cup gun. $15 and it's purple. Works great, used it many times but was mostly impressed with touching up the engine bay on my '77. You can dial that thing down to spray a dime sized circle. Some cardboard and tape for paint shields and I didn't have to remove much. Turned out good to my eyes without a lot of effort.

I'll add to the other comment on accesability to the plugs with the impact gun. It'd be tough to get in there with a good seating. Maybe if you used an extension you could access the drain and you're right about removal only. Good luck with whatever you decide. Cliff

Just make sure the food you bring will fit in a microwave. I have plenty of room for the beer. If needed I'll throw all the fridge crap in the trash to fit more.

I wouldn't but a 1/2" drive would work. I'm old fashioned and my manual torque is what I go by. An impact gun could damage something before you realize it. My $.02.

I used a 24" x 1/2" breaker on my drain plug. I put a small bottle jack under the handle to loosen it. I swear it lifted the car off the jacks before it broke loose.

What else would he say? Those rings have to be staggerd. The oil control ring is a worm ring that has a top and bottom solid ring also. Have you had this problem all along or just recently?

Hokes Bluff junkyard has at least 2 MNs. You drive down 411 and they're 15 or 20 minutes off your route. You could leave them at my house at pick them up on your way back. I probably would have something for your back too.

September or even better October are really good down here. No humidity no hot temps. The time falls back at the end of October so let's hope it's before then. If they do track day at Barber's Motor Sports you all are in for a treat. That's a great road course built in the middle of Augusta Golf Club, without those pesky 18 little holes. It's beatiful!
