  1. for however much rust you see, its the amount you do not see that is scarey!!!
  2. That there is some MEAT...
  3. www.pmbperformance.com That was the site that conedodger told us about. I sent off my old painted brake calipers after the rally when they began to pull hard to the left each time I hit the pedal. Eric @ pmb performance took them apart and rebuilt, polished, and then restored them to factory new. He even put the brake pads I wanted in them (porterfields I believe), and the return service as outstanding, as was the communication. I had both pistons badly pitted and one was sticking in the bore. I am more than pleased with the results... here is what I sent him... Here is what came back... Standing ovation for this company as far as I an concerned. I can rebuild calipers, but this is worlds beyond what I can do...VERY nice job
  4. Mike if that spindle pin removal tool is still on the table, I may need it in a few months!
  5. I really like those Technotoy tuning rear lower control arms. Those are just awesome You know I have been wanting to redo the suspension on the Z
  6. If you have those door cards they are sold to me!
  7. I love stuff like this. It shows the people and the machines working seemlessly Now where can I get one of those 5 lug wheel impact guns~
  8. I get what Barris has done for the community, but the dollar figure is just crazy. Still if somebody paid it, then it was worth that to that person. But good luck every making a profit. The older that car gets, the less and less of that generation will care. The car is not that exceptional from an engineering point of view, and as nostalgia will only go so far. It will end up in a museum one day, probably donated for a tax break.
  9. Do you have any headlight covers ? I would be the first to send you cash. Would you have any new consoles or dashes?
  10. Well I just keep liking the lines and the simplicity of it all. It reminds me of what the 240 may have been like if it had never grown up. I have never owned a rotary, so this car is just always on my mind.
  11. LOVE The beefy tires on that MOrton/510 pic above.. . BEEFY
  12. welcome! What are your plans for the Zed.
  13. I was playing with my son this rainy afternoon and he picked up his latest hot wheel that I found him. A first gen RX7 with a LeMan Body kit in blue. Just a beautiful car from any possible angle. Has that great quirky silky rotary. I was wondering if any of you ZED heads have ever owned a first GEN RX7 and what are you thoughts. The oldest one is some 8 years newer than my car. Just curious. Not seriously thinking of selling the Zed, but I am thinking a first Gen RX7 would be a very fun first car for my oldest boy.
  14. I can verify that is the AC controls for the dealer installed AC unit. My 71 had that, and I quickly removed it once the 1000 lb york compressor gave up the ghost.
  15. Well he has my old ones as a core.. He did a great job folks, I will post more pics when they hit my garage.
  16. FYI, you can defeat all the nannies in 30 minutes now. The ESC code that the rest of the world gets is now available with nothing but a slight VAGCOM change. It is on the APR website and give us US customers full sport and off modes to the electronic nannies. Can't help you with the hatchback comments. I love hot hatches.
  17. I just went through all of this. While my choices are not as diverse are yours, my requirements were FUN, Four doors, Manual transmission, and NOT FWD. I am a die hard Subaru guy. But the lack of interior refinement offered in the 2013 models did not agree with me. And when the refinement was there, (legacy models) a respectiable GT with a manual was not available. Enter the golf R. This is probably the best all around DD I have ever had. Refinement, finishes, comfort, sportiness, handling, braking, power (and a lot more avaiable), slick 6 speed, etc. Such a great car. PM if you have any questions.
  18. Well wasn't the 240Z the quickest Z until much much later. The added weight was not made up for with HP fast enough. I use to have a chart that showed this. I thought the 240Z was the fastest Normally aspirated Z until the 1990 300ZX. However, I think all the turbo Z's were quicker than the original 240Z
  19. That does sound AWESOME!!! You better post lots of pictures buddy! Sadly I will have to pass. I have new baby due in less than 30 days!
  20. Organizers sent out a DVD full of pics, found the ones with my Zed on it. It wraps up the thread nicely for future research... Happy Motoring..
  21. such a beautiful car Mike! Love it.
  22. I think it is safe to say the BRZ/FRS has made any rebirth of the 240Z a possibility. THose cars undeniable success is proof there is room for these kind of affordable fun cars.
  23. Well look at it this way, you are now one of the premier experts on rebuilding the rear suspension on a 280Z. Great work and good on you for taking the time to fix everything and get it right. You should be very proud!
  24. If you would like my advice, I would do a few things. First, I would come straight out with 6 intake runners that are exactly the same length, say 4 inches. Make all of those runners go from a one size at the head say X mm, an open up conically a bit to say X+0.25in. THen I would attach all of them to a large plenum (like an EFI manifold). Then most importantly, I would have the plenum heated to keep the fuel from every being able to pool. This is the greatest challenge for sure. You have to make sure all 6 cylinders get an even distribution fuel, and not have lean 1 and 6 and rich 3 and 4. The plenum may have to have some directional channels inside to help out with getting the fuel to all the cylinders at the same velocity with the same amount of entrained fuel.
