  1. I'll loan the gubmint a few nukes to send overseas?
  2. I have a few nukes left over from the 80s I could lend to you....
  3. I painted my muffler with black BBQ grille paint because it was bare steel, and kinda shiney.
  4. oops, I'm used to looking at the other one. You couldn't just substitute one of the others?
  5. I just got a new BD catalog, #Z.60, and the Monza exhaust was in there. thxZ
  6. Wuil tape stick to the inside? If not then try painting on a coat of plasti-dip or bedliner stuff. As to bending the contact arm, I seem to remember doing it but not as much as you had to. I also had to bend mine, and if you weren't careful when removing or replacing the column covers, you could accidentally touch it and move it closer to being in-contact with the hub, and later have the horn go off (BTDT.) On my 280Z, the part that the tab attaches to is squarish and the tab has a shoulder, so it shouldn't be able to move- at least when it was new. Make sure everything is clean & dry when assembling and only those certain parts requiring lubricant actually have it. Or a tiny bit of GOOP to keep it in place.
  7. The description for that item isn't very clear. Does that mean this item is the (hinged) lid? Mr. Blake thinks that it fits over the oe console lid. The extra padding would be nice to lean on, but I think it would be in the way when you open the lid.I will ask them if they can provide some more photos or information to clear it up. thxZ
  8. I think it was TWEEKS, but I don't have any of those old catalogs. Tweeks had loads of Datsun logo'd stuff and add-ons for the car. Otherwise, my first thought would be to call or visit a place that made vinyl signs, and maybe show them a sketch, or ask around a rice shops.
  9. It sounds like Matt should take the hood latch off the car and go over it with naval jelly and a tiny wire brush. If the hood safety catch isn't working right, then who knows what else is stuck or stuck open to allow the hood to pop open like it is. I have also been replating all the zinc stuff with Eastwood's zinc plating system.
  10. Where did you hear or read this?
  11. Thats nice, but no indicator lights?
  12. I have an L.E.D. torch/flashlight with a hand crank generator on it, so you can charge your phone or pocket PC. It's handy on camping tips. I even have a fancy lantern with a white l.e.d. light, red l.e.d. strobe, AM/FM radio with weather, and a hand crank with phone charging jack. It's rather neat, though bulkier than the l.e.d. torch.
  13. If the door is a jar, what is the seat?
  14. I had one, but loaned it To the DVD project. For some reason, it would not fit flat in the glovebox; one side is shallow and the other is deep. I had to curl it up to fit it in the glovebox.
  15. If it would fit, you could keep it in the glovebox. So then where do you keep yours, if it's in the car? Maybe it could be reduced in size to fit the glovebox, if you printed it from the upcoming DVD archive? thxZ

If there were a few of these cars in a club or owned by people at a car show (like Zcon '09?) what, if anything, would you do with them? From personal eperience, they seem to need a good bit of room to go (about 1/2 a tennis court.)

I am starting to wonder about getting one of these because it is a 4-wheel-drive model, but more because the LHS frankly can't get any.
  19. Jeff, the rear area is red. OTOH, the PO told me that the exterior is a 1993 Corvette clour called "Teal Green" which, the corvette parts dept. tells me, doesn't exist. I think it's more likely the guy picked that colour from a sheet, and the painter threw together whatever he had that comes close.
  20. thanks Arne, That's where you can get into problems; when you try to match a paint sample to an area on the car. I've talked to several painters who GUARANTEE that they can match the colour, but all they really do is use an electronic colour scanner to scan your paint, and then match it to the colour of some other car! I actually tried to get some paint by giving a paint store my colour code, and, again, they told me that they just scan the car and "match" the paint (again, to some late-model colour!) After insisting that they mix up some paint according to the Datsun colour code, I was told that they don't do it that way, and it wouldn't be a proper match. The paint was for the engine bay, and is 'probably' #303 (green metallic.)
  21. Other than looking at paint colour samples online and guessing at what colour your Z is (or was) , is there a way you can determine the original colour number if there is no decal on the radiator support? thxZ
  22. I go to many shows as a group with the club. Those are usually annual shows, and some are local ones set up by the club. Otherwise, I usualy get the show flyers about a month in advance, then just tidy up the car (it's usually ready to go) and grab a jug of drinking water, stuff the tub in the front seat, and I'm off. It takes a while to be "set up" for car shows, but after you organize your gear, you can just load up the car the night before and take off (for local shows) straight away after a quick breakfast, or grab a McDonald's thing on the way.
  23. My car has clear vinyl along the rockers, whicgh is sort of like the stripes. I noticed that it helps protect the paint from rocks!
  24. Rod also sells neat DATSUN t-shirts. See if you can talk him into throwing one in for free. thxZ
  25. Try this place. It's reasonable & friendly. Rod's discount datsun parts San Jose, Ca 888-257-7773 (408) 314-3006
