  1. I have pulled engines apart where the worm gear was installed the other way by the PO.......The engine ran fine reversed. I don't think it matters other than the bevel end doesn't provide as much contact with the oil slinger. Just my guess.
  2. Esprist......No problem....you did a beautiful restoration and you shipped immediately....postage paid. I'm thrilled...couldn't be happier....we appreciate everyone's efforts....our cups runneth over!
  3. Received my set of taillight strips from Kip......the strips are molded fine, but the chrome is more like a shiney paint......JDM strips have nice original looking chrome....looks like Randy's are nice too, but haven't seen them in person yet.
  4. Just too bad we don't all live closer together......but then we'd all stay in trouble!
  5. Thanks Jeff.....still waiting on my good friend Russ to get his dyno moved. Iimagine it should be close to the otherL28's I've built .....around 170 rear wheel h.p. , but I'd still like to know. They're just very fun exhillirating motors to drive .....nice street motors.
  6. Thanks EuroDat .........I'll need help from Five and Dime with the video. BTW......Idaho Kid.....thanks so much for the early exhaust manifold.....very nice. Guy
  7. Engine is finished....we'll install it next week. Hopefully Goldilocks becomes The Big Bad Wolf! :stupid:
  8. I ordered 2 sets from JDM .......they are perfect....I mean perfect.....Beautiful. I also ordered one set from Kip....will report on those when I get them.
  9. More pics......
  10. Rainy weekend.....good day to finally put this bad boy together.
  11. Seek out a professional familiar with the process to build the head. There is so much more to it than just shaving .080 inches......there are shims, different valves and with a different cam, rocker geometry problems as well as spring heights.
  12. Don't mean to be pushy, but I've done all the searches and can't find any threads on the subject. I'm particularly interested in the Southern Wales area.

Bill.....Yes.....This Sunday in Richmond.....Eiji's coming down......come on down too. The 3:54 with ZX 5 speed turns 2600rpm at 60 miles an hour. It feels like a great combo to me.....if you've got one already, give it a try.
  14. :tapemouth  :tapemouth :stupid:
  15. David......I just got it yesterday from Nissan.....yes they have them. Guy
  16. Sorry about that......need to put on my glasses.
  17. Arrived yesterday from Nissan....Part number 85050-P7100 The cable is 80 inches long.....Listed for 73 Z thru early 280 Z. The little black plugs on each connector are for internal protection....they come off.
  18. Sue Bonk said he only had a total of 10 rain soaked practice laps. Amazing!

4.11 Rear end was fun for a while. Keeping eyes peeled for a 3.90 R180 though: I feel like an 18 wheeler shifting gears at red lights. Bill....You might want to try your 3:54 ........I love mine with the ZX 5 speed......don't forget to change the speedometer drive gear in the tranny so your speedometer reads accurately. It's a 10 minute swap....held in by one bolt. Guy
  20. You can still get new 280Z speedometer cables from Nissan.
  21. ZMeca now owns number 20......right Carl?
  22. Just amazes me how critical those angles are.....a quarter inch spacer between the mount and tranny caused the problem. I wonder how many have a vibration caused by this and don't ever figure it out?
  23. Nice tool to check angles....
