  1. Jeff... I cry foul. You added waaaaaay too much real info to an otherwise throwaway* just for fun non-Z specific thread. What were you thinking man!!??? * Never meant to imply that a thread started by any GRAND MASTER was ever "throwaway".
  2. Or seriously, some Killmat or Dynamat foil with butyl backing sound insulation sheeting provides excellent adhesion and permanent seal. Put lots of it down while you’re at it.
  3. 'NISMO' is by definition 1984-up. Pretty late L6-wise. I don't recall Nissan ever supplying them for the L6 until at least (off the top of my head) 1976-ish? That's a long time with the solid phenolic type, which they tended to use on the Works cars by the way. They have a reputation for moving around too much when they get hot. And on an L6, they get hot. They also de-laminate, crack and otherwise react badly to certain fuel additives. Other than that I love them... 😉
  4. The late Colin Chapman would have referred to this as 'adding lightness'. So, a good thing 🙂
  5. Exactly. I normally do the same thing. I lurk anonymously unless I've got something to say and then I log in. I've been letting badge points on the table! Haha!!
  6. They definitely are bad. I was still surprised at how easily an awl poked through.
  7. Well dang it. Now that I know about this I suppose I will have to start logging in instead of just lurking anonymously. Can't let those badge points slip away.
  8. How long did it take you to clean the seats after feeling something furry there?
  9. I followed him a week ago to put him in some new flair. I checked in one morning and got the persistent badge I think. It was for being on everyday for a straight week. This is fun for me right now, working on cars don't last when you do it right so this is another way to get on classiczcars.com everyday. I can be helpful about 99.9% of the time then that 1% pops up every 5 or so years. I like feeding the good wolf inside, not the viscous one.
  10. 1 point
What will you be doing to your Zs over the Winter? My son Jake and I will be doing the following to the 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z. Install Nissan 2000 OHC valve cover Install Datsun Z Story manufactured front and rear strut bars Check for vapor lock issues Install freshly painted hood, cowl panel, and access panels Install new rear taillight frame Install Datsun Z Story manufactured JDM tail pipe Install frontend bushings Figure out why the radio and headlights won't turn on
  11. Haha! Well I read those words! And enjoyed them!
  12. Maybe a kit like this would work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087WNSDPV/
  13. I believe I put some RTV on some shorter bolts and sealed the holes that way.
  14. Ferg, from the pic you posted... Your 77 was designed with the shallow "space saver" spare. They started that design in 77 and ran like that for 77 and 78. The cargo compartment lids were used from 70 through 74 and they stopped in 75 when they started adding the false floor in the back. Here's some details of when I added the cargo compartment lids to my car: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62698-spare-tire-well/#comment-582414 And here's a couple other threads with some good pics of the rear deck area: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/51367-project-boondoggle-or-so-i-went-and-bought-a-z/?page=9#comment-495703 And here's one that shows one of the things I did when I lowered my wooden false floor: https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64856-280z-double-floor-removal/
  15. Viscous Wolf? Perhaps GRAND MASTER Cliff was referring to..... https://www.wolfoil.com
  16. And I thought it was "DANCES with wolves" and sleeping with cougars. Did I miss a memo?
  17. For the price of a dime I can always turn to you. Great... Now you got that song stuck in my head!
  18. I'm a bad typer. You're a perv! That gives whole new meaning to 'sleeps with wolves".
  19. I’m being shamed. Proclaimed a Grandmaster 1%er with no running car… 🤐 guess I’ve got to put the damned engine in now!
  20. Well I won't stop ****ing with my car, so I only have like 400 or so miles. Works perfectly. It's one of my favorite mods.
  21. Oil pressure rule of thumb is 10lbs for every 1,000 rpm. So ten pounds at idle is plenty, at 7,000 rpm 70 to 80 psi is fine. A good quality (read Stewart Warner) mechanical gauge is best. For the diamond pleated covering, a heat gun helps to get it formed and stretched over the irregular shapes of the tunnel and floor.
