[2015] What Did You Do To/with Your Z Today?

I took the Z out for a nice drive through North Georgia today as part of the Georgia Z Club Gumball Rally. Including my car, there were 3 260Zs that showed up today.

On the way back, the wife and I stopped at an abandoned gas station to take some quick photos.

Moelk, thanks for being guinea pig on this. I've been watching thos FAJS carbs as well and would even dive in on a group buy. They make the EMPI VW carbs and people seem to like them.

Replaced motor mounts yesterday. Engine still bangs while cranking, no idea what it is.

I also want to point out that L28 kits of these are being posted all over ebay.com.au for near Weber prices.

Got the heat working on my 77'just in time for fall.  I had replaced the heater core and hoses earlier this summer with the dash out and everything was good. Then it wasn't.  Rebuilt the vacuum selector valve, still not good. Turned out when I reinstalled the vacuum selector valve I had not engaged the teeth properly  .  All good now!

Long story short. Yesterday the right rear brake line snapped off on me while disconnecting it.

I will have to replace it and it goes all the way to the junction block in the center of car.

I likely will have to drop the differential to get at it. I will replace the other side as well as

long as I am that far. After all, they have only been on there for 43 years. Ha.

I was going to drive it to a large car show on the 16th but that may be unlikely now.

Don't have a lot of time available to work on it. Got to order the new lines now.

As a follow up I did get the old line removed from the junction block. It turns out the hard lines to

the left and right rear flex lines are NLA. I made one and worked out good. I also replaced the

original hard lines that go on the drum backing plates. Those are still available.

Finished up by installing braided stainless flex lines. Have to put the same lines on the front yet.

I want to wish my 76 - 280 a happy birthmonth she was born in November 1975.  She is 40 years old and only has 51K miles.

For her birthmonth I add a third light or center light.  Here is what I used.

2PCS LED Daytime Running Light 2X6W 17CM COB Bulb Car DRL Driving Lamp RED DIY  found on Ebay for $14. CARCHET Flash Strobe Controller Flasher Module for LED Brake Tail Stop Light  found on Amazon for $4.55

The strobe controller strobes 3 or 4 fast and 4 slow flashed and then full on.  Here is a video, Utube.

I mounted them on a piece of "L" shaped aluminum and drilled a hole in the middle to pass the wires through and added the strobe controller at the far end.  Soldered the wires from the controller into the right tale light.  Black wire was easy, the other was a little harder my two wires coming out were green-white and green-yellow, used the green-yellow.  No plastic panels needed to be removed.  I used the "L" on top cut in three 1 inch pieces (one left and one middle and one right) and slid tham under the rear window rubber and the glass.
