Well my car was running great and almost all at once in between times I drove it, the next time I turned the key it seemed to be back to where it was before -- running poorly as if it wasn't firing on all cylinders. If you guys remember I caught my #1 cylinder not firing and just cleaning the contacts on either end of the #1 spark plug wire, cleaning and gapping the plug and the car ran wonderfully again. For a few more drives at least. Then it was right back to running terribly again. But even worse, it was running badly and I verified that all six plugs were firing with my timing light so whatever was affecting it this time wasn't as simple as a dead cylinder. In…

Hey, just bought a 1977 Z that im waking from a long +15 year comma. Loloking for guidance as to what i should do and in what order. Compression check done. All Cylinder are in the 180s except 1 which showed 145. I changed all the plugs, oil and filters. I also drained the old fuel and fuel filter. Radiator was empty and thermostat had disentegrated cavities in the cooling systme had white powered residue. Car will only turn over when i jump the starter leads with a screw driver and get nothing, no power when tunring the ignition key, So what do you all recommend I do next? Will post pics of the car when i bought it. Ive had it about 10 days.

I am getting my 70' 240Z ready for an inspection so I can get it on the road. There is some major corrosion/mechanical damage to the floor pans on both sides, so feeling that I wanted this done properly (I do own a Mig welder and have the tools to do it myself), I took it to a body shop in town. We havn't agreed ona price yet, but I'll be supplying the floor pans for the repairs. How many hours would it take for a professional bodyman to cut out the old floors and weld in the new ones and seat supports? I'm getting a vibe of 2000-3000 dollars so, 20-30 hours respectively, which seems like a lot. I think for about 10 hours I could do this myself, with no prior training. T…

Car is a 1971 240Z with stock components. Once I drive the car for about 10 minutes and it warms up, the brakes start to drag and continually get worse. If continuing to drive, it gets to the point where the brakes drag so much that the car is unable to drive. The front and the rear brakes both drag. Once this occurs, I stop the car and bleed both the front and rear bleeders on the master cylinder. Fluid comes out. The brakes then work fine and I can continue to drive without the brakes dragging. If I stop driving the car for multiple hours and let it cool down, I have to do bleed the master cylinder again once the car warms up. I have spent hours and hours on this …

Please see the attached drawing I magnified and colored for a reference in doing this job. To do this job after pulling off the rocker cover, you will need: 15mm open ended wrench 17mm open ended wrench Feeler gauge The proper valve clearances are as follows: Hot: Intake .010" Exhaust .012" Cold: Intake .008" Exhaust .010" First a brief rant about the manuals I've consulted about this: The Haynes manual gives no information about doing this task. In fact, it has no information about tuneups or troubleshooting at all, making it of little to no value, as usual. The FSM has two small paragraphs of inadequate info and the 1970-1979 Shop Manual has an a…

I've had my '73 240z for a couple of years and its always run pretty decent, but it overheats in city driving. Last fall I was driving and hit some rush hour and it got pretty hot (about 3/4 of the gauge). After a while I got out of traffic and it started to cool down some, but about a mile from my house it started running really rough and 1/4 mile from my house it died completely. I coasted downhill to my house and pushed it into the garage. It wouldn't start, but I was so tired of the overheating I took the radiator out and got it rodded out. I also installed a fan shroud. After I got all that put back together, I've been trying to get it started, and it just won…

SORRY - I THOUGHT I WAS LOGGED IN AND POSTED THIS AS A GUEST. ADMIN PLEASE DELETE THE GUEST POST AND USE THIS ONE. Need some help on what to do next, here's the story so far. 1976 280z California edition (manf. date Sept.1975). Bought the car in late Jan. 2019, car passed emissions test and it started and drove fine until 2 weeks ago when problem first occurred. Engine runs very rough for about 1-3 minutes at high RPM when gas pedal is pressed, and exhaust kicks out white-ish / light gray fumes. When gas pedal is released, engine dies, car will not idle. Try to start again and engine cranks but will not start. Let it sit for …

HELP... I have a fuel injected 77 280z that will not start. I believe that the problem is either the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. as no fuel seems to be reaching the fuel filter. I want to replace the relay first because it is much cheaper, but I cannot find the relay. I've looked online and have seen two popular answers as to the location on various sites. On version says the relay is located on the passenger side, under the dash on the kick panel near where the fuses are located. The other possible location I see posted says it is under the hood, near the right side shock tower. I have the new relay and have looked in both places and I just cannot find it. …

Hey, need some advice for a novice again. I've learned know the firing order for a L28 is 153624 (counterclockwise) on the distributor, my questions is that when I trace the wires to the actual plugs on the head the order doesn't make sense to me (not in order as they come off the distributor, or in numerical order). Please let me know the order (from front of the car to the firewall) that the sparkplug wires should be in at the plug itself. Is it 153624 as well?, if so, I've found my problem... Thanks in advance... KCDC Keith 1976 280z

I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone that reproduces the JDM 5 speed wooden shift knobs. I had a JDM one accidentally fall and the plastic lense/gear map shattered  I was hoping that someone made a repro I could buy?
