Exactly. These systems would work great, If you stored your car in the bottom of the lake. Or buried in mud. Sacrificial anode and impressed current cathodic protection require a conductive media (soil, water) to work. Like a continuous, slow zinc plating operation, material from the anode is constantly being transferred to the surface of the steel.

Yea, It's Asbestos. No worries. Most Asbestos hubub you hear is typical media overreaction. The ol Knee-Jerk. Asbestosis is bad. If you worked 10 or so years mining, refining or processing asbestos - nasty. Asbestos is just silicon but it has sharp points and it imbeds itself into lung tissue, irritating it over a LONG period. bad things happen. Same goes for sand. Sand blasters get Silicosis. Same problem, Same action, same result. No one bans the beach. I'd keep it. It was Nissan's answer to rising complaints of vaporlock. I have the Service Bulletin somewhere in my Nissan Maintenance bulletin books

The jury is still out on that one. Popular consencus votes to scrap the tuna can carbs. Some say the Hitachi's can be tuned to perfection - you just need to learn them. Many say that the DGV's will Never out perform a set of round tops, others swear by them. In my camp, simpler is better. Nothing is more simple than a set of round top SU's. 2 carbs, 2 moving parts each.

The head of the bolts are trapped, you can only turn the nuts.

Nice photo. What I see is someone has made a very good compromise to keep all the vapor control items operating without the stock air cleaner. A. (Same as "E") crankcase ventilation line in it's stock configuration. B. Brake booster Vacuum supply line C. the fuel bowl vents were originally connected to the air cleaner. There's nothing wrong with the way this has been modified, UNLESS the vents are exposed to too much vacuum, witch will lean out the mix. D. That was connected to the air cleaner to supply a slight vacuum to the vapor system. Hopefully, it's now connected to the new air cleaner and NOT to a vacuum tap on a carb or manifold. The system only needs a slight negative pressure. Hey! that Z is kinda pretty! Can I have it?

Rolf, I saw your photo, and have to agree that something is amiss. Your are correct in your statment that the fuel level will effect the mixture. The level in the fuel bowl IS the primary mixture adjustment. The nozzle level is the fine mixture adjustment after the bowl level. It is proccedure to set the bowl levels to the same height, as close as possible. Have you watched ZTherapy's SU video? Scott really covered this area in it, and stressed the importance of setting the fuel bowls the same.

Tom, I'm following your plight with interest. My linkages, springs, etal are in new or perfect condition. But something is wrong with the geometry for sure! I can get into a surge cycle that tries to snap my neck.

of a ride up from L.A. to the Ojai area, then up the 33, then west on the 166 to Santa Maria. The L.A. Crowd would take the 101 home. But, for you, you would be home. How about, You take the 101/150 to Ojai, were we'd meet up. Have lunch. Then up the 33/166 and you pick out a comfortable/fairly inexpensive diner-style place for group dinner? The other ride I'd like to plan is Santa Monica Mountains canyon ride.

There is a light at the end of this dreary tunnel. The encouraging thought I offer goes against my general pessimism. The more you chase down these little issues, the less they occur. Life has taught me that the above is NOT BY ANY MEANS a absolute rule. But in the realm of my 30 + year old Datsun sports cars, it actually works! keep after this stuff. When it seems you have "laid your hands upon" every component and system in your car, taking the cross-country trek will be more pleasurable than a McGiver Adventure. Funny, as I have seen the very same "Full Automatic" badge in the same script and border on 71 and 72 1200's (Cherry's?). I guess the U.S. got them, one way or another.

It's Starting... I feel it..... Every time I see a Z32 in good shape, I get shakey. The other day, on my way to work, I made my usual left turn. Punching it, as usual of course. A gleaming yellow Z32 pulls along side my right, Driver smilling giving me the thumbs up. I could see it in her eyes, she had S30 lust, but I was lost in my own Z32 desire. Do I need an intervention? Is there a 12 step program for Z frenzy? Or do I need to find a parking space for the next Z?

Actually, I found his veiws realistic. But he tries to show off his wordcraft and loses clarity. He is not an easy read. The road reviews are on the money and his input on routes have inspired my ride lust again.

I don't know if this appilies in this case, but, I just had a mystery miss-poor performance issue. I have the ZX EI distributor, so I thought "at least I know it's not the points"! Turned out the plug to the EI module was almost completly disconnected. I would not have seen it. I thought my coil wire had gone bad. Went to pull the coil lead off and jostled the signal wire to the module and it fell off. AhHA!

I don't know if I'll be chasing or leading in the Z, as that Roadster Beast is pretty dam fast out the the Twisties! MG enthusiast love to call the roadster an MG copy, even thought Datsun beat MG on the rollout by a couple of months. The 1500 and 1600 roadster competed in the same class as the MG to for a GLORIOUS career. Right now, as you read this, on a race track, somewhere in the world, a Datsun Roadster 1600 is total disrespecting a MGB, even with it's 1800cc engine! The 2000 Roadster's main track rival was the Triump GT-6. Poor ole Triumph wanted the SCCA Championship badly to promote their sales. It was not to be, as the 4 banger roadster beat it out 2 years straight. (half the Triump racing Team ended up driving Datsuns before the 70's were through) The #1 reason why I'm a Datsun Fanatic today was the beautifull racing history enjoyed by Datsuns, both by big money teams and the grassroots privateer. In 1979 I was at Road Atlanta for a SCCA National and watched Bob Devendorf in an ElectroMotive B210 take H production(?), with low buget 1970 1200 privateer an .8 of second behind him, and the rest of the field a quarter of a lap back. I thought to myself, "Those Datsuns must be pretty good cars".
