Vent tank hoses
I am so glad that I don't have to deal with this. The fuel vent tank is basically the difference between an early HLS30-U and an HLS30-UV. What a great picture the first one is! Notice that the vapor tank is metal - very rare. My cars are HLS30-U versions with the vapor return going to a T fitting on the filler hose. Kudos to all the information posted.

Red 69 production date car on BAT
So he has HLS30-00020!?!?? I thought it was originally white. Could be wrong - old age memory. Fuel door knob is wrong. It should be the vertical knob.

All of the '69 builds. Arguably the first few months of 1970 production.

1970 240Z Works Rally - the road to restoration
I'm surprised that they ran with the rear interior panel.?!? What I just noticed is the enlarged tail light opening in the exterior finish panel. Also on the car in your post 81. They must have wanted access to the housing from the outside of the car.

Slalom Camshaft 475" Lift / 275 Duration New Old Stock!
He just spelled it wrong. I went looking for the cam but couldn't find anything. It is probably an earlier competition part, slalom cam, with the lift and duration you describe. In all my parts books listing competition cams, they all say you must use the special lash pads with the cam.

1971 240 radiator factory finish?
I painted my two '69s a satin gloss. Almost but not shiny.

Yea, I hate to admit, I haven't heard mention of Satch in a very long time. I also miss Brock and Denise.

two-wire hose clamps
My experience was understandable. The site was mostly in English on the liberal side of grammar. I won an auction, paid for it with PayPal with the understanding that shipping fees would be additional and calculated later. I then got an e-mail to the auction site asking for shipping payment to the broker, in this case, Jauce. I made another PayPal payment. Two days later, I got an e-mail from Jauce telling me what the packing and international shipping fee would be. Another PayPal payment. Jauce confirmed shipment and gave me a tracking number. About ten days later, the package arrived. Total about two weeks from the time I won the auction. When I surf the Japan auctions, the translation to English is on and in the upper left corner of the page, there is a statement about international shipping is included. Many pages say no international shipping so make sure you see it.

Steve, That auction was a Yahoo auction brokered by Jauce - Nichido Logistics which is an agent for international shipping. They charge a fee, of course. My latest purchase through them was for a $11.24 item that cost me a total of $48.93 to get it. DSL is usually the shipper and other than the cost, I found the service real good. Jauce sends e-mails periodically to announce local delivery, packaging and shipping with a tracking number. It works but it is expensive.

Well, if you're correcting for accuracy, it would be New Sight Orange, Sunshine Yellow, and Safari Gold.

I'll vouch for Resurrected Classics. That should be a very nice hood from them.

This will require Nissan part number D2345-E4100; "Puller_tree large single diameter" rather than the D2344 for the smaller bush stuff.

Advice on a white Datsun 240Z from 12-1971
Ya' know, I hate to argue with you, jonathanrussell, but the cars did not leave the factory with undercoating. And any undercoating was not applied to bare metal. The cars had a complete painted finish. Granted, the undersides had a thicker textured paint finish but not undercoating. And not the finish on this example.

Z badge on the qtr panels
They are held in with barrel clips, tiny clips that wrap the pin and clip into the body. Metal badge pins work much better than plastic pins.

Nissan part No. D4160-00003 and superseded 00016. 'Leather-Top' (Black) Appears in the 1973 North American Parts Catalog, illustration 150, and I can't find it in the 1972 Fairlady Z Parts Catalog. It is listed with the '240Z' rocker stripe kits and the illustration shows installation tools and glue. It shows edge molding but the picture looks like a coil of string. It is not mentioned in my 1972 North American options catalog but I recall it from a Japanese option catalog? I saw one in a junk yard in Texas - out junking with Fred. Only one I have ever seen.

SU round tops vs dual 32/36 Webers
Eons ago, I road raced British cars with SU's and learned a lot about tuning them for performance. Hitachi's are just the same and I would say if you wanted to play carburetor tuner, the Hitachi's would be fun and simple. Read some SU tuning books. You can get a lot out of a set of Hitachi's.

Florida Members Roll Call
Late Wednesday afternoon, when the eye came ashore, I was thirty-five miles North of the center. The worst of the wind speed was just South of me. I don't know what wind speeds we actually saw, but it was pretty fierce. All the flooding and storm surge was South of me also. Carl and Jim Frederick are sixty miles North of me so I would think they made it through fine. We have lots and lots of wind damage. Trees, signs, awnings, traffic lights. all blown over. Some areas of town have no power, but I do. Cellular is spotty also. Most of the major roads are passable - full of tree trash. Two trees down on my street. Today's music will be Chainsaw Symphony.
