  1. Blowing fuses as you describe is a short circuit to ground, somewhere in that circuit.
  2. ZH is correct. The carbs should act the same. Some more tuning needed there. What were the results using the color tune? Were you able to get the proper color on all six and what color are the plugs? Pics of the plugs would be good. I'm betting at least three of them are dark. Carbon in the cylinders may be the cause of the dieseling.
  3. It'd be fun to renew one that old. My mom never did understand why I HAD TO disassemble and reassemble my new bike and anything else I could get my hands on. The urge lives on.
  4. "Sometime they'll give a war and nobody will come." Carl Sandberg.
  5. I like it. However, in my 520 there was a couple of things I didn't like. My knees would bump the bottom of the steering wheel whenever I used the brakes or the clutch and the upright seating position wasn't comfortable. I'm 5' 7". I doubt this little gem has much legroom either.
  6. Then it must be your wife. She's sending you a message.
  7. He bought more than one sanding block. Perhaps it's a hint that he wants to help. Yeah, that's it. Everyone likes to sand.
  8. I removed the top layer of flaky flat black from my 260 using a couple of cheap new HF wood chisels. Very little pressure was needed when I got the angle right. There was very little damage done to the next layer even though I wasn't careful. The next layer was to be sanded. Wear eye protection. The paint chips fly off in a cloud.
  9. I'm curious about the manufacturer too but fitment is the real issue. Massaging a replacement valance is one thing. Just the thought of massaging a poor fitting replacement quarter panel makes me shudder. Have you taken any comparison measurements to see how close they are to originals? The info could boost the price.
  10. The cups of liquid reminded me of one of Blue's injector tests.
  11. I'd want to take a good look at the body modifications. Pulling the inside rear side panels to inspect the workmanship of the flair installation would be a good idea.
  12. How long are you going to let it idle?
  13. How long are you planning on letting it idle? Also, how long do you normally have to let it idle in traffic?
  14. A big improvement. No more fouled #4. I don't have an answer to why #s 2, 5, &6 have a slight rusty color on them. I wouldn't worry about it for now. Does anyone have a guess? I'd drive it for a while and check them again.
  15. Another possible lead? The Nissan headquarters was in Beaverton, Oregon back in the early seventies.
  16. Back on March 7th. 2008, Arne started a thread titled "Datsun dealer list from 1971". He was looking for the Oregon Datsun dealers back in the day. There are several lists of Ore. dealers submitted by members. It appears there were 31 dealers in Ore. Some of them are still in business. It's possible some of them still have the old records around. Some of the ones like Scoville Datsun in Corvallis that are closed still have a historian that has archived a lot of info.
  17. Backfiring out the exhaust? I'm going to guess a timing issue.
  18. Did it give any indication of life when trying to start it with starting fluid? A random pop or backfire?
  19. @jalexquijanoAssuming you've installed the new plugs and wires, drive it for a few days, pull all the plugs and tell us they look great or send pics. Correction, send pics either way. Almost forgot. Put the timing light away, at least for now.
  20. @jalexquijanoThe new set of plugs to go with the new wires is a good idea. Good luck with the test runs.
  21. The feds prices will come down as competition between the feds and the black market heats up. Especially after next year's legal four plant harvest.
  22. IMHO, finish each section. One doesn't want to remove a lot of metal at the same time on these cars unless the car is on a jig.
  23. Cliff is picking us up at the airport at 10:00 AM tomorrow morning and the plan is to head directly to the track and meet up with Jai (RedWing). Cliff will be there until late Saturday. Looking forward to meeting y'all. I've been practicing my language skills.
  24. @AK260 Jalex installed a new Bosch cap and rotor a few weeks ago.
