Yep, he started the hack job on it right after the eBay auction ended. Go and search the thread on hybridz.org and you'll find out more information as this is where he was posting updates (at lease early on) about what he was doing.
  2. So then a good question is how (it it's even possible) can one be made to fit and work in the early Z cars whith the L6 engine?
  3. An L6 5-speed is somewhere around 70lbs give or take 10lbs from what I recall when I last moved the one in my garage.
  4. Yep, looks stock to me too. I just tore down an '82 engine not too long ago and I have one from it that looks like this one.

este, I have yet to see in any post where you indicate where in Texas you live...it's a BIG state. You may want to update your profile with this info so you will never be asked again.
  6. Shoot me a PM or email about this request.
  7. See the pic below and let me know if these are what you are looking for. I have these for sale if you are interested. http://www.pape.ws/allan_and_rosanne/Z-Car_Stuff/Wheels/American%20Racing1.JPG
  8. You're welcome guys! I'm just glad I have been able to give back to this group in some way for all the help I have received...and hope to continue getting.
  9. Beautiful seat and I'd love to have it but I bet what I have to spend would insult you. Best of luck. Get out there and find a new job before you are forced to sell things you do not wish to...like this seat...and the car it's in.
  10. I believe it and would expect at least that much hp with a twin turbo set et all like he has. These engines are capable of a lot of hp but like the othes said, it takes time and money.
  11. Well I have the files from the second link that Mr Camouflage provided, and a back up of that page also. Both are available here. PrOxLaMuS©, if you just need these white gauge face files hosted I would be glad to just shoot me an email or PM so we can get them on the server.
  12. If someone will provide them to me I'll host them.
  13. A couple other notes: This is not a series I as it is advertised. Series I cars had the E31 head not the E88, they aslo had the vented hatch which this one does not, they had the 240Z sail badges which this one does not, etc, etc. Secondly, in addition to the mentioned repair work you will also be looking at MANY new rubber pieces such as hoses, belts, and seals not to mention that anything that is greased should be re-greased (steering, suspension, etc), new tires are almost certainly required too. Dry rot will set in over 11+ years of non-use and cause more problems than you think. This is a project car and will need a lot of TLC and as a project car it's worth more like $1000-1500 (in it's current condition). Now for donating it and taking the $5000 write-off...yes, you can do this but you will have to live with yourself and for this action. It's really very unethical and immoral to donate something with a market value of say $1000 and claim it to be worth $5000. If it were really worth $5k then you'd be better off selling it as the tax deduction will show you a smaller return. I also think that the IRS would be really interested in how a non-running car could be worth $5k as a donation (don't create any reason for them to audit you!).
  14. Now how did I miss those carbs? I've been keeping an eye out for a tripple set up and didn't even see these. I've been watching these timing sets for a while and just can't bring myself to buy one. Have you received it yet? I just realized that the cam sprocket in the pic is an adjustable one! Is it really?
  15. I thought the same thing. :stupid:
  16. I am interested but where is 287 & 35? I'm in Austin so I know 35 but...
  17. I'm still watching for you Steve.
  18. I see, thank you for the info Vicky. I know that 5-speeds were available in '77...I have one of them. I just figured that they all had a 5-speed.
  19. Hmmmm.....where in central Texas are you? A 4-speed in a '77...what happened to the 5-speed that should have been in this car? Do you know?
  20. I wish you had watched it, I could have made a little more money and even delivered it to you. The buyer may flake out, he doesn't sound very convincing yet about coming to get it...he's NW of DFW. They charged me $150 but didn't really have to do anything except pull it apart to make sure there were no problems then put it all back together with all new seals. It was worth it to me to know that this is a solid tranny and I should have no problems after I install it...I don't want to have to pull it back out again.
  21. Honestly I don't know. The car has been parked for a couple years and I was not ever the driver of it, another member here was (thefastestz) though.
  22. Thanx for the update Jim, please do keep me posted on what you decide to do. A 32gal parts cleaner...I'm just not getting a mental picture of how big that is. What would you say you could fit into it? Or are you back in Houston yet where you could shoot a pic of it and something else showing scale?
  23. I had Cottman's do my 5-speed Z tranny, not sure if you have them there or not though.
  24. Can you tell me about the parts cleaner please? Size, condition, pix would help but I know that you are not in the same location as it is right now. Also, if you decide to sell the car please contact me with all the details!
  25. Those 6-spoke are the ones I was hoping you were talking about! Shipping time is not a concern so the slowest method to save on cost is fine by me. These wheels only weigh 16lbs each so total weight with box and packing material should be well under 70lbs which is most carriers' limit. From past experience the box should end up being something like a 16x16x33 which will be considered an oversized item but still should fit within shipping size restrictions (I have had a set of wheels shipped to me before). Please let me know if you would consider this. My shipping zip is 78613.
