There are more than 4 bolts holding it to the block. I can't remember exactly how many though 6 or 8 as I recall. Are the engine and tranny in the car?
  2. Go to this site and scroll down to rollbars...there are several pix here. http://www.pape.ws/allan_and_rosanne/Z-Car_Stuff/
  3. Glad to see you found the site and got your question posted. I'm sure that there are plenty of people here who know enough about these to answer your question. I don't know who they would be but I know that there are some like Carl Beck who just seem to know a lot of the history and various parts for these cars.

After striking the deal with the seller for the one I am getting the above referenced post was my first stop and I already have DJACY's agreement to shoot me a copy of the installation instructions. I'm two steps ahead of ya.
  5. I knew it! When I was going back through some old eBay auctions last night I saw this one where I didn't win and immediately knew that it was you who did win. *DRAT* Congrats on the win! A great item at a great price. I did ask the seller previously and he had no others.

How quickly do you want this done? I have a friend in Houston who reverse engineers things for a liveing and could ask him to work on this and whens it's all done it would be in CAD with exact measurements. Hmmm....maybe I should do like Mike with the glovebox and just make some of these and sell them.

Seller set the price...I just jumped all over it like white on rice!!!!!!
  8. texasz replied to texasz's topic in Interior
    Sure...I got it for $70 + $15 S&H. :bandit:
  9. Go look at them. The black plastic part on the top unscrews has the dip-stick attached to it. This is where the oil is and how you check it's level. People use all kinds of oil in there so you'd best wait on more knowledgable people to answer that question (I have hears of ATF being used though).

My new (to me) tanou cover! These things are darn near impossible to find...I've been watching for one for quite some time now and have only ever seen two for sale (not counting the one a fellow member sold late last year). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4526378560&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT I can't wait until it arrives! I love these kinds of rare parts. Now all I need are a good set of installation instructions...DJACEY??? I know you got one late last year from a guy in the US and it included a clean set of installation instructions...would you mind making a copy and emailing them to me? Or anyone else who happens to have these?
  11. Do you know if the seller has more or others? I need the 1970 and 1973 FSM; I already have the 1971 and 1972 ones. As for the copies...be careful what you ask for...that's illegal...copyright and all.
  12. Probably talking about MWZ (aka. Chloe) and she's gone forever. Please do not make this into another thread about her and that situation...I've read enough about her. She's gone, let's just leave it at that unless you want to search out the thread that discussed it in depth (order a pizza and a six-pack first as it's a LONG thread). FYI: I believe she was selling them for $150, I had asked her at one time what her price was because I wanted one...errrr...ummmm...still want one.
  13. It went up to $5300 before the seller cancelled all the bids and ended the auction. Here's a link that goes to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4523480325
  14. I have a dash that anyone is welcome to for a few bucks. It's from a '73 240Z but will fit all 240Z cars and maybe others. Don't get your hopes up, it is not in great shape, here's a link to some pix: http://www.pape.ws/gallery/DashandRelatedParts You give me a few bucks for the dash and cover packing & shipping expenses and it's yours!! If anyone wants it please PM or email me. If nobody wants it then it will end up on the crusher with the rest of the car.
  15. Another option could be to weld up the holes on a standard 240Z bumper and have it re-chromed. I watch way too much Overhaulin' :devious:
  16. So what I'm hearing is that Mikuni is the way to go. Is this correct? I really surprised that more people didn't chime in on this thread.

I have a new Oxy/Acetelyne set up that I bought in November and have yet to light it up. I have no clue what I'm doing as I have never welded (I used a torch once in '87 to cut some rebar but someone else set it all up all I had to do was cut). Anyone in Austin want to come over and teach me? I have a parts car that is all rust...we can have some fun cutting and welding.
  18. I am looking at buying a set of tripple carbs for use on my 3.1L stroker build and would like to get some information on the different set ups available and why one may be better than the other. I have seen that we have Webber, Mikuni, SK, Dellotro, and now something called OER available to us for our L6 engines. Can anyone help hit the pros and cons of each of these inlcuding parts availability, ease of working on them, tuneability, performance, reliability, etc? I really need this info in the next day or so to begin making decisions on what I want to buy.
  19. There was a thread a while back that had their info...searching....found it. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14974&highlight=sunbelt Please be sure to share your findings with us all here.
  20. Just saw one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7951375583&category=38634
  21. Limo tint - 5% I had this on a previous car and loved it! Nice and dark, nobody and I mean nobody could see what I had in the car (thump thump)...then again these were in my younger years...I can't do music that loud any more.
  22. There's slightly more to it than that. You must live together and present yourselves as being married...then you are considered common law (and the 6 months is only a general guideline not a hard fast rule/law). I had to check into this once to see how screwed I may be when I kicked someone to the curb after being together 4 years 3.5 of which we lived together.
  23. Well it seems as though I'm not the only person who has worked in a tint shop. From the information given it sound as though most everything has been covered but I will summarize and give my thoughts any how. Summary: Window tint is great stuff (and on the inside of the car), it has a function to keep the inside of your auto cooler as well as make it more difficult to see anything inside of it. When it's done right it will last a good while, but DO NOT use that crap you can go buy at Pep Boys it's trash! Most any window can be done in one piece of tint, the quarter windows on a Z are quite easy...we have even done the rear window of a '92 Vette in one piece!! Now it that can be done just about anything can be (window tinting is a artwork, much like bodywok...anyone can buy Bondo but to have it done right you have to have the right tools and knowledge). Removal - lots of good ideas here but not the healthiest nor most environmentally friendly...instead of amonia try using Simple Green. On all the windows you can just peal the film off then use soapy water (a few drops of lemon fresh Joy and water in a squirt bottle) and a razor blade to remove the glue (takes only a few minutes per window instead of "bagging" them with the trash bag). NOTE: on the rear window if you have a defroster you must bag the window as previously described with a trash bag and allow it to 'bake' in the sun a while which will serve two purposes...it will make the old brittle film plyable and more likely to come off in one piece...and also soften up the glue so it will peel off easier. After this you can repeat the bagging process (film gone now) to get more of the glue off or soften it up more if necessary. Do not use anything to scrape your window or you will destroy the defroster!! Now use a Scrunge (found in the grocery store with the dish spunges) and more Simple Green and the glue will come right off with our harming anything. Additional Thoughts: Do not tint you windshield unless you have a skin condition sensitive to UV (sunlight) and you have a Dr. note stating so (and you cary it in your car) or you WILL get a ticket. All newer windshields have an AS1 line on them and it is illegal to have any tint below this line (in any state!). Also, check your state laws...in CA for example I believe it is illegal to have any tint on the front windows (driver's and passenger's doors)...there's probably a grandfather clause but you will need to check the laws that apply in your area. I would also not recommend tinting them while out of the car as you can damage the file while installing the windows plus you may tint them too close to the edge and the film may end up under the gasket (rear window for example) and this can cause problems if the gasket pulls the film it will cause damage or begin peeling (not to mention that if you want to remove it later you will have trouble as the edges will be under the gasket). No tint shop I have ever heard of removes windows to remove or install tint. Hope that my experience in this area has been of use to some of you here.
  24. No, I didn't see that...thanx for setting me straight Bambi, I can always count on you to do that for me. :stupid:
  25. I believe that Victoria British carries them. Nissan probably also has them but for a pretty penny. You may also try some of your local drivetrain or transmission shops.
