  1. Thanks Mr JFA. I'd like to go to Dollywood next, whups this year, but Nashville or Franklin is a no brainer for me. Hopefully I'll sit on the porch and have cold beverages with my guys. Two Jim's! There needs to be a drink named for those guys. Two fingers is taken, two Jim's isn't. The Jimmie Shimmie? Jim's Wobbly? James's Shame?...
  2. I've read many post of problems with hot restarts for EFI. People getting stranded at the gas pumps. Have you tried the all rubber fuel rail Jeff G 78 suggested a long time ago?
  3. You tell me. I've never bought any.

Charles and Cody that looks great. I saturate my fresh blasted aluminum with satin clear from Eastwood. I'm always happy with the results, no greasy hand prints after installing. Takes about three soakings with my hvlp gun to get to the soaked level. Won't take no more.
  5. Best present ever. Thanks Mom. It has a magnifier for my old eyes, flashlight and an unbelievable camera. I agreed and accepted more stuff this morning during set up. I'll probably get a $1,000 bill next month.

I see the direction arrows are backwards but it's a nice car to me no matter which way the tires were rotated. Good luck with the selling of your car. Seems like a fair deal. 8^)
  7. New years plunge. That's funny!

The only ball drop I'll see tonight is when mine hit the toilet. Happy 2019! It's gotta be better, I think? Cliff
  10. Mine worked with MSA's 6 to one ceramic header but I did have to trim some off the transmission's extra bulk so it wouldn't touch and rattle. Not a big deal but I'm going by my header, no idea what you have. Good luck.

A beer in both hands and one in between your feet. We are all friends here, no need to to play all innocent! Be careful though or you'll have another tricycle engine.
  12. When I bought my '77 the face of the oil gauge was up against the needle. The guy I bought it from thought the gauge was bad I reckon? He tapped it out of the holding ring. I doubled up some duct tape and pulled it back into place then rebuilt the motor with a turbo oil pump.
  13. Glad you fixed it. Have a great 2019. Cliff
  14. Just reading what others have said I don't think your gauge is the problem. From Steve's post... If the ammeter has failed completely, typically the car will not start since current will not flow through the ammeter. For starting the car, power goes from the battery, through the fusible link and ammeter, and to the ignition switch. And that's the starter not the alternator you're checking voltage on. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. Good luck. Where does the needle point when the car is off? Should be at the center. Then when the car is running does it go all the way to the left, negative? If it stays at the left running or not, I would disconnect the battery and see where the needle goes. Again, good luck.
  15. He switches hands too!!! You go Bruce. The reach around with that new helmet. Chicka dow wow...
  16. I'm not positive on this but when you put a volt meter on the batteries post it should read 14.50 volts with the car running. If it's more you have a bad voltage regulator. The gauge most likely isn't bad it's something else. Don't get tunnel vision on the gauge. Thanks Zed Head. You always come up with a better answer. We could open a shop... Sanford and Son.
  17. Sounds like an alternator problem to me. Fuses pop before causing damage up stream therefore you should always use the recommended fuse. Never go higher. I had a bad alternator that burnt my fuse, none of gauges worked. The internal voltage regulator went bad. Have you upgraded the alternator? I think after these years of using mr irwins upgrade without issue you can rule that out.
  18. I think the lock down bolt hole would strip out too. I tighten until it stops.

My '77 has the folding ones. '72 has the solid. Add to that, the folding ones go in the tool pouch under the deck for the space saving spare they did in early '77. Solid ones go in the tool compartment behind the seats for 240s. I put a fire extinguisher in the one behind the passenger's seat. Tire stuff is in the one behind driver's seat. It has a sticker showing the correct placement on the lid. I know you know this. I'm super bored. Sorry
  20. Is that the BRE car?
