  1. 175/70's are they still available? or any 70 profile, 185/195?
  2. Lower roof! You would have to be joking, I can only just squueze in as it is. any lower and I wouldn't own ANY S-30's! MOM
  3. What is JDM?
  4. These aren't figures, they are percentages which bear no relation to actual figures. Lobbyists will always try to confuse the masses with madness such as this. Regards, A concerned Victorian.
  5. Mr C, where did you gain the impression that the H190 is a LSD? I'm probably wrong on this [& hope I am], however I quickly checked the FSM that I have, unfortunatelty it's for a 260C, but does quote the diff as a H190. There is no mention of it being a LSD, however, it may be possible to tighten the slip by installing thicker thrust washers. This I would think could be done on any diff used in the S series? or another option would be to weld up the pinion gear an lock the diff. [Cheapest option]! It is difficult to ascertain whether it is possible to change the gear carrier over from the diagrams supplied. I guess it's really over to the specialist in the group to voice an opinion as to the workability of this idea? Hope it helps and am looking to a reply as I know the location of several Cedrics! Mike
  6. If this is the case then there is a oversupply of LSD's available. [At least in Aus]. I have a FSM for the 280C at home and will delve into the diff question to-night!
  7. These probes are also on Flat Top carbureted 260's There are actually 2 on FT 260's. One is the actual temp probe for the temp gauge, the other is for the electric pump cut off. This was a simple logic device that would cut [switch] off the electric fuel pump when the coolent was over a certain temperature and the motor RPM was below 600 [from memory]. HIH
  8. Could you advise all members the Transistor type numbers & other obscure values for components that you used on this?
  9. These links have always created confusion. I've never been able to locate them or get any spec's on them. Hence, like most, if not all owners have had to resort to simply replacing them with a wire of similar gauge. Yes, I know that it isn't advisable, however if there are better ideas......... If anyone knows at what amperage these links should blow, please let us know, at least at a minimum, a slow blow fuse of adequate awperage should suffice.
  10. Alan, You're very correct in assuming that Aussie delivery cars where loaded with dealer accessories. In fact I would state that you would need to place an order for a "basic" car. One interesting option that the 260 was loaded with was a rear window reflector. I've never seen another one and have often wondered if it was a dealer option? The best way of describing it was to think of a cutout of blue plexiglass that fitted inside the rear hatch window. The "glass" itself contained speckles or particles of silve/gold foil for reflection. Very effective and coooool looking. Anyone seen similar?
  11. Oh yes, they have been built. At least 1 to my knowledge as the famous Dazda. Campaigned with limited success in Victorian Rally circles in the 80's. Body 510 motor Rotary. Haven't heard of anyone using it in a s-30 series. Suspect there is very little to gain as the power to weight ratio is similar to using a L24 or L26.
  12. Just think about doing a DazDa conversion!
  13. Isn't the motor still a L28? I would have thought it would be a straight swap?
  14. Hi Alan, I'll give my age away now, but I brought my first zed new from a dealer [brad Boyden Datsun, Airport West, just in case anyone is interested], although it was a 260 2+2, it was none the less brand spanking off the floor. Traded my V6 Capri and sadly regret not keeping both. Did we have an option as to what we could have? Interesting question, as it was already loaded with dealer options and the thought of having this "immediately" rather than having to wait 3 months weighed heavily on me. In reality it was now or never and I chose the now rather than waiting for what could be a very very long wait. They where very much in demand, and I wouldn't think any one actually put in a special order. Nismo where pretty active in Aus at that time, if anything at all, "specials" where Factory Parts ordered from the catalog to spice up the local imports. HIH Cheers MOM
  15. Woops. just re-read your post and noted 208zx dizzy, guess thats electronic and has no cap. Sounding like a heat related problem, maybe the black box module is intermitant. You couild buy a can of spray freeze and start cooling different sections of the ignition to fault find. Good luck!
  16. Try replacing the capacitor in the dizzy
  17. Don't forget Targa Tasmania....27 April to 2 May. Incidentally, Yackandandah is soooo similar to a country town in Tas. NE Victoria in the higher country, Beechworth, etc is worth the visit.
  18. Razor: To answer your questions, you best need to perform 2 searches. 1. Use the search function at the top of the home page using the word "round top", then search again using "flat top". This will give you a better idea of carb differences.
  19. Take the advice of a Victorian and head straight to Tassie. Don't forget Precious. Or Contact the Tas Tourist Bureux. They have a special Targa Holiday thingie where you can hire a boxster and follow the Targa Route. Tassie in Autumn is magic! MOM
  20. How about a tab on the home page to other datsuns and their forums. By utilising this method we can all access info about our cousins without jamming up the Classic Z page? I totally agree that reading about different models and the similarities to Classic s 30's is interesting, however, a line needs to be drawn somewhere before the main page becomes to fractured. Mike
  21. Thanks all for your replies and advice. I've contacted the owner and they are 1600 rims, therefore of no interest to me. However that said, if there is anyone that is interested in them, they are located in Victoria, Australia. PM for the owners e-mail and I'll pass on. Cheers Mike
  22. No pic's at this stage. Genuine Jap import into Aus.
  23. Oh, how would I be able to determine that they are factory works genuine wheels? Calling Alan, calling Alan, please come in.......
  24. Anyone have any ideas whether: 1. These where used on the rally 240 works cars? 2. What they could be worth? [in AUD please]? Ta MOM
