  1. Does this indicate that the first consumer delivery was not made until 1970?
  2. Zedrally replied to Ed's topic in Body & Paint
Don't know about source, but I'm always confused as to what decals? Really, what decals went where? Is there any reference that decalless zed owners can reference to find out what they are missing? MOM
  3. I think we will need your input so we can see the relevence to this discussion?:classic: MOM
  4. Pretty sure it will. Tail lights didn't change until the 260.
  5. 003 certainly is going to re-write the history in Oz [as I see it anyway]. The most important point to remember with this is the ADR compliance plate. [Note, Alan T, not on door jamb]:classic: . Interesting it's above the factory label though, as later models I've seen had them fitted on the fire wall If this vehicle was privately imported [and I would doubt that], it would NOT have a compliance plate fitted. These where only available for factory imported vehiclesand fitted for Australian Delivery. This vehicle is certainly a mystery and any information that is available would be apprechiated. Had Mr C confirmed the existance earlier we may have all stopped wondering about 004's fate and concentrated on this earlier survivor! MOM
  6. Alan, You still make mention of door jamb numbers on RHD vehicles. Australian delivery zed did not have these.. Are you saying that export models to the UK or Continent did? MOM
  7. OH yes....this would be like finding a long lost undiscovered Beatles song.....
  8. So far the thread has concerned itself with build and model year [not to mention when sold], however when was the concept first aired? Do we have a date? 65.66,67 or 68. Would the first models be a 68 model with a 69 build and 70 delivery?
  9. Alan, Sorry for the glare of the spotlight! You mention the numbers in the door jamb, Aussie cars don't have this. Are you saying that UK delivery did? Aussie correspondents also need to remember that seat belts on 240's where fitted in Australia as the Factory version did not comply with the ADR, hence any dates [if you can find them] would be much later than the build. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by 26th-Z What and where were the domestic cars stamped? Is there such a chassis as HS30-00026? PS30-00026? These would certainly exist or would have existed, however there would only be one number issued, not several for export within a production model.
  10. Yes, thats one of them. I'll just await Alan's comments.......
  11. Here is the thread that Alan T asked for. Drum roll ...please I knew your radar would be turned on with the tread on #160, so let the discusion begin.:classic: If any one has a link to the original thread started 2 or so years ago please link it to this thread. I believe Kats had a lot of ground breaking information posted on it, one discusion that I don't believe was raised was the actual production number in units per day? Over to you...........
  12. Ok, thanks for the response. We now have the car de-rusted so it's onto the primer stage. From here I intend to spray Acryillic Colour straight on, possibly 4 coats to build up some depth. After this can I spray 3 to 4 coats of UV Top Clear coat? Thanks for all the help, spray painting and materials to use doesn't hold much of a place on my zed knowledge list.
  13. Sounds possessed. Have a cross and wooden stake handy and don't go short on the garlic!!! ROFL ROFL ROFL
  14. You will find very little help here with 300zx problems. This is primarily a S-30 site and queries usually cease by the 280zx stage! Of course you could sell your 300 and buy a 240. That would ensure many replies for help. Lots of Luck MOM
  15. Is this a FI engine?
  16. Near impossible to work with! But good suggestion. Is available in sheet, just don't make any mistakes.

Guus. complete entry list from http://www.targa.org.au/
  18. Sir, I think you have to much spare time on your hands. Stop playing with your keyboards and go and fiddle with the zed, instead! Yep, like it. Some day, some one will show me how to make these!
  19. So I take it thay were LHD?
  20. Being a Contender is not the same as being a Competitior. Sure they [Capri's] competed against zeds, but in my opinion they couldn't be considered a contender. Did you get get the V6 push rod version in the USA or was it modified again?

Thanks for the link, some are awesum, some sad, some funny. Sums up Targa Tassie doesn't it. MOM
  22. If you had been heated up red hot then you would probably be burnt as well! Unless it's ceramic coated [or otherwise protected] then any metal oxides after exposure to high temperature. Personally, this is one item I wouldn't buy by auction as you still need the other bit's to finish off the project! [not to mention the if it still works factor].
  23. No, not really a piece of junk. I would however think it would be obsolete now, though. Looks like it's still needs the carbie's at the very least, unless you where contemplating FI.
  24. Miniture Mustang.
  25. Alfa, don't forget the zed was designed ground up as a sports car. The Capri was an UK version of the 510. A medium family sized car. All that Ford did was to add the V6 and some other cosmetic details and call it a Sports Car! From memory probably the best of the British of the time in the capacity class would have been the Triumph Stag, great little V8, removable top, little heavy and a high price tag [out here, at least]. Of course the XJE was the ultimate, but then again not a subject of this thread.
