  1. Took my son up to a new home development that is under construction for a session of manual transmission driver training. He is doing great. Part of me is going to be sad when he is ready to drive it on his own. I don’t think I will ever see it again! [emoji22] Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  2. I felt it was a little on the low side price wise, but I'm partial to Blue on Blue as a colour combo. I love it. I don't think Australian market HS30's got that combo, 903 blue is a really pretty blue on S30Z's. I don't think the quarter panel was that bad really, a good old school panel beater could get that pretty right. Someone with more limited skills like me would be better off unpicking it and finding a NOS 1/4 panel to work with.

We bought a 72 510 wagon for my son about a two years ago. It had been hit on the front right and it took us a while to get that straightened out. Lots of pulling, shrinking and welding We rebuilt the hood out of two different hoods there are some more pictures of this on the forum, but I don't know where... We are changing the cars color from an Ivory type color to one of the factory orange colors. Last weekend we pulled the hatch and started reworking it but there was some bondo on there, so that required a good bit of metal work and even after that there is still a lot of filler on the panel I will try to post up some more picture tomorrow
  4. That's great. They should keep you busy and out of trouble for a long time. Didn't know you had two 69's. I have my hands full with just one Z. And some of you guys have several Z's.
  5. Amazing what can be accomplished in a year of weekends and evenings. Seriously excellent craftsmanship… it has been a pleasure to watch. Carl B.

I believe that is the case as well. I think the extent of the effects is related to the grade of stainless and the temperature reached. But you're right... Nowhere to go but up, and you went way up! And even if the stainless properties are down a little, it's not like it's going to spontaneously rust overnight in that one spot. It might surface rust slowly or something like that. An occasional buff down with scotchbrite would probably be enough to keep from attracting undesired attention.
  7. Left or right arrow. I actually don't recall them being lengths.
  8. I will post more in a few days, for now a teaser on what was next...
  9. Thanks again everyone, things are coming along nicely. Got a lot of the interior in as you can see in the pics. Most electrical is working except for blinkers so will have to troubleshoot that. My meter shows that I am not getting power to the turn signal lever. Kind of weird because all the running lights, headlights and dome light work. Will play around with that today. (Edit: that was a quick fix, one small bullet connector near the fuse panel...all better) Also will be detailing hubcaps, horns and stick shift knob. Found a nice pretty new starter from @Zup along with the correct battery cables. I am looking forward to those coming in. That should really set off and complete the engine bay.
  10. Some hope for HLS30-00147.
  11. Good to hear that things are back on course for 26th and that you are making progress! $11k looks to be well-bought for #305, as I was guessing it would go for about $15k based on its condition and the matching-numbers engine, etc.
  12. Well....life took an opposite tac back in 2008 and we just seem to be getting back on course now. Both cars and the donor body shell have been in dry storage. 26th is about ready for paint. Meanwhile, almost all of the drive train has been restored. I still need to decide what to do about shocks and I haven't done the carburetors yet. I need a big chunk of change to make the body green again. Then there is the whole question of the interior. I have a way to go. It was good to watch the auction and get into the conversation. HLS30U-00305 is going to need floors and frame rails. The rear quarter is not going to be easy either. It looked solid, other than that. Gas tank looked all bent up. The thing is that these cars are appreciating fast enough such that the car will be worth close to what is in it by the time it is finished. Or at least one can hope!
  13. Yes, I remember when you bought #27. That had to be at least 11 or 12 years ago. I've always thought how cool it must be to have both #26 and #27! How are your restorations coming along?
  14. That's in much better shape than 27th was. Blue on blue - very pretty color combo.
  15. I like the old picture of the Boeing engineer who had purchased and stored all of the Datsun parts standing next to his 240Z so many years ago. "These parts came from the estate of a Boeing Airplane Company Electrical Engineer. He was in charge of the quality control for all the wiring in the 747 757 and 767 airplanes. In a word this gentleman was meticulous. Every tool and piece of equipment in his shop and work rooms was top of the line and looked brand new. An array of test equipment and tools some he manufactured himself. There were literally walls of bins filled with every nut, bolt, wrench, screw and whatever known to man. We'll assume Boeing was a great source. I also purchased some of 100's of pieces of audio equipment from the estate which included absolutely mint McIntosh amplifiers and Klipsch speakers. If you were to single out the perfect person to be the guardian of vintage car parts he was IT. We included a photo of the 1972 or 1973 Datsun 240Z labeled as prior to painting."
  16. knowing my luck, I would win an auction like this and end up with a bunch of 310 parts and a used smog pump for $2,000. So then I would be telling myself, "well you never know. You just might need that someday...".
  17. Maybe all of those old boxes are empty? Wouldn't that be funny??? I didn't see anything worth very much but I didn't look up all of the part numbers either. I think that for $3000 the seller could list the part numbers for us. I think it's a big gamble to bid on that stuff. Someone on Facebook recently had a ton of Z stuff for sale...truckloads! But it was mostly just pic of boxes. I asked if he had a list of parts but he didn't. How can I make an offer if I don't even know what I might be buying? Chuck
