  1. Rex came by today. I was in the shower so I caught up with him and saw his newly painted 510. I’d say perfect!
  2. There are two in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985). Maybe 3... That white car in the distance looks promising...
  3. I just checked the restoration receipts that came with #957 and the seat covers and foam came from Les at Classic Datsun Motorsports. The receipt (from 2016) doesn't mention whose product the foam is, but you might want to check with him. The issue you are describing is evident on the front of the bases but it's barely noticeable when the seats are installed. It was actually not that easy to get down that low to get a picture. Lol Here are a few pics from #957 for reference And a couple of pics of the the removed passenger side OE seat bottom that is un-restored from #6521. The issue is only slightly evident.
  4. As usual, the FSM has good information. I'd have to have a rack in front of my eyes to know where to put the nipple and observe the outlet but apparently there is a lubrication procedure defined. Also, various grease applications described before this section. 1976 FSM - Steering.
  5. Same here, maybe 50k was a low estimate. But if you can do a lot yourself this saves a LOT, Painting is getting more expensive by the year to. It's crazy the prices they ask the paint shops. Last year I did my 70 mustang with a paint shop I know, they charged me 4500 EURO. Other shops asked between 6500-9k
  6. Easy $100k to restore a 240z in Australia. Lots of parts need to be imported.
  7. wow.. The last time that happened here was over 10 years ago and i got compensated the next week.. hundreds of euro for a 4 hour no power! (I wouldn't mind a powercut ones or twice a month that way! 😉 )
  8. Yup, if you don't like the proces of restoring your own car, it's much cheaper to buy one in restored condition.. As i'm a bit tired of it, if there is someone that can put my engine back in a already restored 280zx, i'm all ears! 😉 (To tired/sick and to much chores/odd jobs overhere.. Carlift and every sort of tools available!)
  9. 1 point
Correct. The wafers for the ignition have a slightly convex edge on the bottom or top (can't recall which). If you look closely, you can see that in my pictures. If you start with two door locks that are keyed to the same key, you save yourself a fair amount of work when replacing the covers. The thought crossed my mind that I could sell you some of the wafers which might be a good option instead of waiting for the kits to show up for sale. I could send you a few of each size and you could map out what you need. Let me know what you think.
  10. Not to argue with my good friend Cliff @siteunseen but it seems unlikely that Nissan would have installed a 3/4" high plastic grease reservoir in the same location as the rubber bushing mount. If so, there would have been an existing hole for the threaded throat of the fitting. The carparts manual diagram referenced by @Zed Head shows it to be on the passenger side for all models of S30. Note on my pic there is actually a reinforcing plate on the tube to provide enough metal for threads. I've no theory or explanation as to why our OP has no provision for the part other than some possibility that the rack might not be original to the car.
  11. Yes - thanks.. (lost power here for a couple days..)
  12. Okay, time to come clean. I found this car for sale on Vancouver Island and couldn't resist buying it. My Canadian girl, number 6521 now has an American cousin, Number 957, a 1/70 car. When I finish restoring 6521 they will be twins. HLS30-00957 was owned by a member here, @M3333hp. sadly he passed away in 2020, mid way through the restoration. Rest in peace Pete. Pete's son completed (except for a few small details) the restoration with great attention to originality in 2022, exactly as his dad would have wanted. Pete would be proud. He recently decided it was time to let the car go to another enthusiast. I was very happy to be that guy, and yes I still do plan to complete the resto of 6521. Not that haven't already, I will be taking my time on the current resto, leaving the final work to enjoy when I retire in a few years. I have really missed having a Zed to drive and for club cruises and shows, etc., number 957 will definitely take care of that. Here are of few more pics of 957. I will be starting a new thread soon to document the number 957, and the short list of items on my new todo list.
