  1. The years just keep on rolling by...
  2. You are not wrong. I have to admit to watching that show as well, Google makes finding this stuff too easy.
  3. A “layover” is a term used to convey the time at an airport spent between connecting flights. I landed in Charlotte and was waiting for 2 hrs for my connection to Las Vegas to go to work. Chips was a 70-80s series show based on LA Cops. Miami Vice was an 80’s series based on Miami Cops. Both were pretty popular shows.
  4. Well this is a timely thread . Just had a customers car come back for an electric power steering install . Drove it 30 miles on the highway and the wheel shake was terrible. I think I replaced most of the suspension parts up front . I still have things to check , but it has the original steelies with newer 14” tires . My money is the wheels and tires . I’m going to swap the wheels on my car to his and see how that goes and go from there
  5. Watched Fletch on my layover the other day: if you haven’t seem it and want a flashback to the good-ole 80’s it is a must watch. Wow, has our country has changed, I’d give up all the tech to go bac. Chevy Chase is classic. Loved this movie. Saw 2-3 Zs in the movie.
  6. The later versions of that "key in the ignition" switch that I've messed with don't have that plastic shroud over the connections. Not sure if they changed the design over the years, or if the ones I've messed with had the cover removed by a PO at some point. In any event, these pics should help. Start with this: Remove this. Should pull off by hand: Then remove this. Should come off with some light taps: Where to go after that should be obvious:
  7. There is no coolant bypass. When the watercock valve is closed, it is deadheaded.
  8. LOL!! Looks like me!!!

  10. Wow! 52 years! congrats! 👍 My 240z is also 52 years old but i have it only for 25 years.. I'm driving z and zx for 32 years now.. my first z was a zx, a 280zx, and my last bought one.. also a 280zx.. hihi.. So.. Mr Arnett you must be 70+ and still driving a Z! wow! Nice!
  11. I change ever thing just like you. a new steering rack, tire rods inner and outer, techno toy tension rods, lower control arms from techno toy, struts and new springs I went 2 tire changes over the years and several balancing of the tires just like you, it was really starting to wizz me off. I never looked at the front pads when I went to drilled and slotted rotors as the caliper comes off without removing the pads. I did a lot of chasing of that same problem to find out about the shims sticking. well good luck and let me know what you find, and maybe my post will help some other members with the same problem. kully
  12. Hard to tell from that pic... Start simple. Take a pic of your HVAC controls. Does it have a setting for A/C or not? Here's a pic of a non-AC control head: And here's an example what it looks like if you have factory air:
  13. From another 1973 Cannon tv episode, a '70 (or '71) 240Z driven by one of the villains. Here are a few short clips, no Zeds were injured in this episode. Lol. I can't same the same for Cannon's car that got shot up later. 20230330_033429.mp4 20230330_040322.mp4 20230330_040433.mp4
  14. I know the orig 240z is a Nichira. Is this 260z also from that fabricator? I should say: "Nichira" big on the rear muffler. The orig 240z exhaust didn't have very big diameter and could profit from bigger ones, i don't know but did the 260z have some bigger diameter exhaust pipe? (also is the partnumber different? i do have fiches but no reader present sadly..) Here some pictures from a original 240z exhaust (rear part) last made in 1999! (for as far i know!)

  16. Love it! I hit 30 years of Z ownership in June.
  17. I have found that on many locations the harnesses already have small bands of tape at the junctions. I also believe the original loom tape had some adhesive on it. The residue is on the wires, the ends didn't have additional wrapping to prevent raveling and it makes a noise when unwrapping that sounds like old adhesive.
  18. Also check the fusebox on bad connections. take out 1 fuse and close the clamps and check it they are still have a good conn. to the back cable. clean the fuse clamps with alcohol. Put back fuse and check if it is clamped well.. next fuse etc. etc.
