Hubcaps have arrived - these have been on my list for a very long time! Thanks Hank!
  2. Done. Engine and trans installed. Several trips to the auto store later.
  3. That hole in the drums lets you turn the adjustment wheel on a 240. Not 100% sure if the 280s have that adjustment? but if you can't get the hole lined up to the toothed wheel then it's no good. Hit the drums with a rubber hammer or small sledge if you have replacements. My country arse would try dragging it with my lawnmower to unstick them, been there done that.
  4. Please post some pics and what gauge you bought. Something is out of wack here. Thanks
  5. I can't say for sure. I would have to build a female connector to test. 10 AWG goes from the switch to the fuse box, then goes to both headlight fuses. (That statement is wrong for the 70 & 71. The headlight switch in those years completed the path to ground.) The red for the right headlight should be 14 AWG. When I replaced the clutch MC in the 73, it was not sealed. It was also not original having been replaced in 94. The FSM doesn't say anything about sealing it, either. Maybe @zspert could confirm.
  6. Yeah I hate tuning my stroker with a laptop - it’s so boring
  7. I so love the fact you can easily swap carburetor needles on a 240Z and tune it with a twist of a mixture knob and turn of an idle screw. This sure beats taking out a laptop and remapping an ECU.
  8. Thanks for the info guys. Ordered a pair from z therapy yesterday. Pricey, $120 / pair, but when your this far into a restoration what's another $120. On a related note, if the one on the front carb comes off without breaking, I'll have a used nozzle available it anyone needs on.
  9. A little more background to the install. Our cherry picker wasn’t long enough to place the engine and transmission in connected, so we had to remove them separately. Aftermarket motor mounts I purchased were Fowled up (paint/plastic were inside the bolt holes) and we had to tap and die M8x1.25 to clean them out. Had to fight the alignment getting the motor mounted for a bit. mounted the transmission from under the car. All in all a day effort.
  10. It says: "Remove brake drum adjust hole plug" What beautiful english... 🤬 I would say: Remove plug out of brake drum adjust hole.. 😮 ( Because i would name the thing that's meant, first.. You guys.. tell me what is the better english? )
  11. That is why it is very important to adjust pedal travel correctly. That valve has a necessary job when initially installing new components, clutch disc wear and eventual minor leaks. Poor adjustment leads to reduced clutch travel, which leads to poeple adjusting the pedal more to "compensate" for the reduced travel and the cry for help "my clutch won't disengage."
  12. Happy to assist.
  13. The Police, Danzig, Eileen Barton. Like me, you have a broad musical palette Cliff.

    Oh. Sorry, eh?
  15. Too much free time on the internet! I am sure you can understand šŸ™‚ Cant find the link for the defroster right angle terminals, but I think it was one of the motorcycle folks. If someone really needs it, I can probably find it. Found it, flag terminal: http://www.cycleterminal.com/flag-terminals.html
  16. My girl baked me a cake one time. I had to buy antibiotics afterwards.
  17. Crazy price, think I’d rather have the lower vin, for a lot less.
  18. Today i finally got the Japanese Neko publishing "Fairlady Volume I" & "Fairlady Volume II" Books. Two super nice hardcover books that come in an additional nice cardboard box each. I've seen those books many times but somehow forgot about them until a friend reminded me about them (Shoutout to Florian!), So i had to get them, of course. I have only flipped through them quickly so far, so have to dive deeper into them. It appears that vol 1 has a lot of background information about the development. like below shown the different prototype / development versions: They also feature nice pictures of all variants like the HS30-H G-nose version or the PS30 (Z432), etc, where you can see all the details: Vol. II has a lot of motorsports photos And also shows one of the famous Z432 Highway patrol cars: As i said, i still have to go through them in detail in the coming days, but so far, they look good in my (partial) collection of Japanese Z-related books:
  19. The market is all over the place. This one failed to sell in 2015 at $19,750, but sold a couple days ago for $73,240. What a difference seven years makes. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-264/
  20. That valve is supposed to be open when the piston is at rest (not pushed in) and closed when the piston is pushed in. In other words... When your foot is pushing the clutch pedal in, that valve is closed. It opens by catching on the little retaining pin you were questioning about the color. The function of that valve is allows fluid to fill the plunger area if necessary, but then close off when the piston starts to move so hydraulic pressure can build. The tip of the pin rides in that long groove, and when the piston is at rest, that pin pushes against a small weak spring and opens the valve. Valve closed: Valve open: Easy-peasy.
