  1. Hi , I tested fittings of a replica Z432-R bonnet which was duplicated from an original Z432-R bonnet. The fiberglass was selected to much the original one, I simply love to see the fiberglass cloth material and the way of structure inside. I did some adjustments but still in a half way of proper looking. A big issue is bending upwards at the left corner end. Maybe I heat it up and push it down? I am feeling it will not work for FRP. Maybe a garden stone on the corner to sit down little bit but how long will it need? A month? Or a year? Kats
  2. I am sure your situation is frustrating. I read back through all of your posts and here are my thoughts. - I am still not convinced you have ruled out whether or not you have a head gasket leak. You have multiple posts where you mention white exhaust. None of your efforts and energy are going to work if you have a head gasket leak. - If you remain uncertain whether the thermostat is an issue....do what Zed Head has suggested and remove the thermostat as a test. If it runs hot without a thermostat then the thermostat is certainly not the problem. - You mention multiple flushes to clean out rust in the block. Is it possible that the flushing freed up debris that is now restricting flow in the new radiator? May need to pull the radiator and flush it out with hose, etc. - If all of the above checked out, I would come up with a way to confirm / visualize that coolant is flowing freely through the system. Might use some clear hoses, watch waterflow in the top of radiator, etc.
  3. Looks spot-on to me, Kats. Great colour choice too. FRP bonnet has to fit imperfectly to be perfectly authentic-feeling. That's what they were like!
  4. This hit my inbox via Hagerty this morning. https://www.hagerty.com/drivers-club/my-garage/76xlk0bd/yafa/90724980-90b3-444d-8f83-638ae7f6f615 260Z 2+2 with this in the description: Power with a 2.6L with a longer wheelbase that makes her look even prettier. I guess everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion, but the car does look nice.
  5. I found your car has a gas strut to support the rear gate. The rear gate is much lighter than the normal one, I am wondering if the strut is too strong to push the rear gate upward. Z432-R has a simple rod to support and it’s retainers are unique to the car. As Alan mentioned, a road going Z432-R has a steel rear gate with a plexiglass windshield, that is heavier than your rear gate. Interesting! Kats

Hi Charles. It's a little late, but the trick I use to drill holes through a head gasket or something similar is to sandwich the gasket between two 1/2" thick MDF blocks or similar. 1. First drill a 1/8" hole through the blocks and a 1/8" hole through the gasket where you want the new hole. 2. Push the drill bit through the first MDF block then through the hole in the gasket and finally through the other MDF block. 3. Clamp it all together with a bench vice or a pair of g-clamps. 4. Remove the 1/8" drill bit and drill it out to the required size. 5. Repeat procedure for each hole. Clamping the gasket between two pieces of wood stops the drill from chewing up the edges as the bit passes through. It might be handy for someone else doing this.
  7. If the factory is willing to sell me a Y9821-22101 CDI distributor, and a Y9821-22102 Ignitor for $12, I'd take 3 of each as well!
  8. Wanted to share my experience with getting my front end aligned. So I took the car to a local shop with a great reputation, had them do other work before on my other vehicles. Anyway dropped it off yesterday morning and it sat there all day and they didn’t finish it until this morning (had a sick mechanic). I really wanted it done yesterday because the East coast got hammered today with a big storm today and I didn’t want to drive in the pouring rain. Once they finished the work they parked it outside in the downpour.😞 So the alignment was was out of whack, which I expected since I rebuilt the entire front end and reconditioned the steering rack. Here are the before and after, you can see the camber numbers.. Of note for those using lowering springs that your camber will be off. He said I was in the limit but said it would be fine. Attributed it to my lowered springs. Drove it home in the rain like so stole it. Driving so nicely, but nos she’s all dirty. 😩
  9. More Christmas music. Sun 60, performing Mary Xmess
  10. Thanks Alan, that blower motor configuration is shocking to me! And it looked cool, I am curious what is hiding in the dash. Kats
  11. Hi, I bought a key from him a long time ago, http://www.kuro-key.com/item/?ca_category=15&icon[]=1 if he is still in business, it would be a good choice for your car. I looked at his key very carefully with my genuine key side by side. Only subtle differences between them, I would say no one can tell which one is which without having a genuine one in hand. Kats
  12. Beginning December first each year I only play Christmas music. I have a couple thousand Christmas songs on my iPod, mirrored on my iPhone and now, my iPad. Here is one from the Ramonas, Santa’s Got A GTO
  13. This afternoon i'm gonna kick myself... i could buy one for 60 grand about 20 years ago? and now estimate: is 1,8-2,2 million... pfff.. I think it's one of the most beautiful cars ever. well done Count Albrecht Graf von Goertz! (for the aluminum body) It has a V8 but as strong as a L24.. 150 horse.. But yeah.. it's a 1959 car..

  15. Yes, and the wood blocks seal the deal.
  16. I've not heard Queen without Freddie singing. This is pretty cool with the drummer Rodger Taylor doing the singing.
  17. You sold me a bad rim...
  18. Yes, I think that's SA-986. Is that from your 3/71 issue of Auto Sport?
  19. My own view is that the fitting of CDI is possibly one of those 'evolutionary' differences in the different batches of Works rally cars. The two earliest batches of cars (1970 RAC Rally batch and 1971 Monte Carlo Rallye batch) may or may not have had CDI ignition modules, but the 1971 Safari and 1971 RAC Rally batches certainly had them. Both were RHD batches and (most probably) used the E72 'Cowl Top Inner' 432-R type panel with the CDI mount bracket already in situ, but - apparently - without the heater inlet duct brackets (because full heater was fitted). The import carnet spare parts list for the Works team's entry on the 1971 RAC Rally included the following:
  20. Perhaps it is not so surprising that the heater inlet duct 'chimney' doesn't have 432-R style captive nuts? After all, this is an LHD car and there were no LHD versions of the 432-R's E72 'Cowl Top Inner' to use. Additionally, a Works rally car would most definitely need a fully operating heating and ventilation system (and more!). All the roadgoing 432-Rs I've seen had the fresh air ducts, flaps and cables. There's not much weight in them and they would certainly be a welcome presence on a road car driven in Summer. I don't know if it will have been done on xs10shl's car, but other (later) Works rally 240Zs had 'overclocked' fan motors with extra windings, allowing them to push more air. They also enlarged the ducts under the windscreen and put wire mesh in them to stop them swallowing up anything important... There's some evidence of Namba san's mentioned ventilation system mods on cars later than the '71 Safari winner. '7924' is the '73 Safari winning car of Shekhar Mehta. LHD, but it was originally built in order to take part in the 1972 RAC Rally (driven by Rauno Aaltonen) and it shows the much-modified heater box and blower motor mounting position they used. This Works rally-specific mod hides its light under a bushel, and its full splendour would only be revealed if the dash was removed...
  21. Pretty sure this would be termed as a two-piston design, common to S30's. A single piston is common to most recent cars with a floating caliper design.
  22. Hello Folks, I bring 2 pieces of good news. After looking at multiple spider legged 91 civic motor, I started doing some digging. It turns out I can verify the motor is the correct motor in a 92+ civic, which broadens the scope to: ACURA INTEGRA GS (1997 - 2001) ACURA INTEGRA GSR (1994 - 2001) ACURA INTEGRA LS (1994 - 2001) ACURA INTEGRA RS (1994 - 1998) ACURA INTEGRA SPECIAL EDITION (1995 - 1996) ACURA INTEGRA TYPE-R (1997 - 2001) HONDA CIVIC CX (1992 - 1995) HONDA CIVIC DEL SOL S (1993 - 1997) HONDA CIVIC DEL SOL SI (1993 - 1997) as well as 92-95 civic dx and ex's. Now with this list there is a word of caution: The wrong motor might still be on the listed cars, but in the right place. So take EXTRA care The spider motors were inside the engine bay and didnt resemble thr right motor making it easy to spot them right away...The wrong motor is not the spider type but resembles the right 3 legged motor very closely. They are both under the plastic trim near the firewall/windshield I pulled the wrong motor out of a 94 civic. One difference I noted before I pulled out the second motor, is that from the back/top of the motor the right motor has its wire bunch going on top of its neck while the worng one didnt. the right one also has 3 mounting holes in a triangle while the wrong one only has 2 and a 3rd post with no threads in it. Study the pictures of the right motor before you go. Having a motor built in 2001 in a 70s car....Priceless Also these motors have the right shaft so you can just drill the mounting holes and bolt it in. And next piece of good news... Here is the wiring for a 280z using stock delay module: 77' Datsun 280Z __________________ 92' Honda civic wiper motor ---------------------------_________Pin 86 -----blue/white Yellow/black--------Pin 87A ________ Pin 87-------blue ----------------------------________ pin 30--------Chassis Ground Blue/red----------------pin 85---------pin 85----------green/black Black----------------------to------------------black Blue/yellow----------------to-------------------blue/yellow Fast, slow speed, intermit. and park all work with this setup. Ill double check this when I get home just to make sure im remembering it correctly, and Ill add a diagram of what is what incase your wiring is different and you have to figure it out,as its easier to figure out a circuit difference than the difference in car make/models. You can also buy a 4 prong relay if its all you can find instead of the 5, just put 280z yellow/blk and civic motor blue on the same 87 prong. Enjoy those bolt in 2001 motors that work with all settings and stock windshield wiper stalk control hehehehe AWESOME. ,Ryan
