  1. I got one for you, When I lived in Meridian MS and was a flight instructor at the Navy base, my roommate crashed his pathfinder and borrowed my 88 Toyota pickup 4x4 for 3 months. I finally got my car back when his was repaired and one day my fiancé’ now wife opened the glove box to get something and pulled out a set of women’s panties. Boy did I have to explaining to do! Somehow deep in her mind she still doesn’t believe me? Every now and then she says something about those panties. 😵‍💫
  2. John, before you pull the trigger on your fuel tank, consider this place... http://www.gas-tank.com/ Lifetime warranty, had a tank done last year, talked to them on the phone, they were very familiar with the 280 / 240 tanks. They have many locations, I think I sent the one I had done to PA. Worked out great for me. Jim's 2 cents
  3. Gents ,sitting in the hotel bar in Aachen, Germany drinking beers alone, the guy I’m flying with lives in Germany (we send pilots here for 4 hrs from US), so he’s at home with his family, The COVID things is a big deal over here, where at home where I live it’s a almost a thing of the past. Nobody wears masks where I live anymore and life is pretty much normal. Not here, you have to show proof of vaccination everywhere you go and people wear mask outdoors alone. They scan your phone as you enter a business. I don’t have that phone QR code and get the stink eye when I show my old school CDC card. To enter the Christmas market they scan and tag your wrists. I don’t fly until tomorrow night. So I’ve got time to burn now. Anyway you all know about by fuel tank issue. I called a company in Raleigh, NC about 2 hrs from where I live and they repair and fix fuel tanks. They guy said it would be as good as new and they’d repair the leaking area where the hoses attach. 100% guaranteed he said. I was on the fence about ordering a new tank but held off after I told my wife it was $825 shipped for a new tank on a car that she hates. We have a $500 policy? Any purchase over $500 requires us to get permission from the other, She said…” how much have you spent of this car that sits there and leaks gas in the garage?” $350 to do the fuel tank restoration! That doesn’t need spouse approval so it the direction I’m going. https://www.northraleighautomotive.com/fuel-tank.html

  5. I agree with all your comments on the headlights. I have the VC3500 set installed for over 2 years now and have been very pleased with them. In addition, they mimic the look of standard sealed beams without the look of lights that came from a mars rover. Although they draw less current, I opted to install a relay harness to preserve the combination switch.
  6. I suspect when they try to move that car it will be in pieces. The rear edge of the hatch looks gone, and there is a letter sized slit in the left wheel arch. It's been sitting in the grass a long time by the looks of it. The bottom of the car is probably totally gone. No loss, Cliff
  7. Not the kind of Z a GRAND MASTER would be caught dead in. Although from the picture of the interior, it looks like someone else may have been. You dodged a bullet on that one, Cliff.
  8. I thought I would post my recent experience with headlights. I bought some LED lights from this company https://vintagecarleds.com/7-inch-round-headlights/. I've been looking at LED's for a while for both my Z and my roadster. They installed on the Z perfectly, and it is amazing to be able to see at night. The best things about these are 1) they have glass lenses and 2) they are plug and play-no cutting or filing to get them to fit either of these cars. Since they draw about half the amperage, they put less stress on the circuitry. I've become so accustomed to "Some assembly required" that I'm genuinely surprised when an after market part fits with no fuss. This company had a black Friday sale that was 20% off, but I believe they have other sales throughout the year. I will be ordering a second set for the other car (VC35000). To be clear, I have no affiliation with this company, but I wanted to provide my experience in case any of you folks may be looking for a headlight upgrade. I've received a lot of useful information here.
  9. Stacked some more high build today
  10. I block sanded the top of the car to the belt line. Done with 400 on top... A couple of little flaws. One on the right side of the hatch Two small ones on the roof The plan is to do down to the body line and the tail light panel tomorrow
  11. It looks grey or green??? Could be an epoxy, it's not RedKote
  12. Av8ferg, Given your profession, and what was found in your glove box, may I say that this was a case of Dreams Take Flight.
  13. Not my vintage of Z car. Looks like someone used the roof as a trampoline and front and rear glass is gone. Car is about 200 mile from me. Its been on the site for aver a month. I dont know anyone local that has a 240. Never know, it might be put a battery in and drive it home! Would make a good Road Kill episode driving a car from Montana to LA in December/January
  14. Some guy bought a house and land with an old 240. Facebook marketplace said it was a '69. Message the guy to get the vin # and he said he was flogged with inquiries. It wasn't to far away, complete car for $1,500. I figured out my loose change and when I texted him back it was SOLD. Turns out it was a '72 but still a decent deal I thought. Day late and a dollar short... Eh, maybe next time? It would've been fun for this winter to play with though. 😥
  15. I've got a '77 that is full on patina. I call it Patina. Sat out so long in the sun the top body panels are silver, sides are 305 blue. It even has orange carpet! And the dash has cracks so wide I could hide a pistol in one.
  16. @siteunseen I’ll trade you cars if you like patina. 😇
  17. But all that patina is priceless.
  18. Are you prepared? Here's your chance.
  19. Here it is. He didn't respond and now I've had time to quiten the voices in my head. I wouldn't buy it today if he did call. My life is full enough as it is. https://m.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3059209144326149/?ref=browse_tab&search_query=240z for sale&tracking={"qid"%3A"-7243422141589002929"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"3889982104438251"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A3889982104438251%2C\"target_type\"%3A0%2C\"primary_position\"%3A-1%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A0%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A503%2C\"value\"%3A0}"}
  20. Chance favors the prepared.
  21. The driver's side tail light lens is busted. That's a deal-breaker.
