Summer Age 8 Christmas Age 9 Birthday Age 10 Summer Age 11 I saved enough to buy a BB gun. When going to the store, but before leaving, I had an argument with my mom. She said I could not buy one. When I got to the store (on bike) I had guilt in the store and could not do it, so I bought a football and a chrome Z. My dad would still let us take the .22, so all worked out 🙂 The football was constructed of cheap rubber, and it cracked in half later that winter, when throwing outside in the cold. Canada eh. I got the scales out before taking the 510 off the rotisserie, front weighed in at 295lbs, the rear at 293lbs equaling 588lbs, minus both of the stripped doors at 40lbs a piece and 32lbs for the rotisserie mounts. So total stripped weight for a 73/2dr 510 comes out at 476lbs.

One has to wonder about the world we live in when we have to have a security plan to protect our security devices. Growing up, I never had a key to the family home because my parents never locked the doors except when we went away on vacation - and I remember them having trouble finding a key to do that on one occasion. We also left our cars parked at the curb unlocked. Now I lock my car, set the alarm, have an outdoor security camera, and subscribe to a service that will immobilize the car if stolen. Progress.

Looks like a mini Nissan Factory Line!

The rotisserie is back in storage and have started installing the driveline and suspension, I weighed both ends of the car before taking it off the mount 476lbs for the stripped shell, that's just slightly less than a 240z.
  6. Few more loose ends to tie up and the Z will be ready for its first fire up.

I will have the KA engine on the hoist in a few days and will post a definitive weight then, but yes not much heavier than the original engine with an additional 65hp. I don't have a target weight, it's not going to be a track car and I will be adding some sound/ heat baffling and comfortable seats. The battery is being repositioned to the P/S trunk to help even out the load.
  8. Back in the 70's every car smelled like gas, it was normal. Mmmmm, leaded gas, I miss that smell.
  9. The early 280Z all had Bosch components in the EFI. They progressively changed over to JECS and Hitachi in the years after. First to go was the Bosch ECU in April 75 and the AAR, AFM & Fuel injectors followed that year. I think the fuel pump might be the last of the EFI components to move. Most EFI parts where then JECS and some JECS' parent company Hitachi. Approx. Fuel pump time line Bosch up to mid. 76. Hitachi N4200 & N4700 (black terminals) up to Sep 77 Hitachi N4205 (blue terminals) from Oct 77. The inlet filters and internal pump components from the N4200 & N4700 don't fit the N4205. The filters and pump rollers are different lengths. The o-rings including the motor house o-ring will fit all 3 version and the inlet house and complete pump sections are interchangable so you can swap a pump to another motor etc.

Well, the car came with an SR20 but it was in pretty bad shape so traded it straight across for a KA24DE.
  11. I went through that thought process myself and even managed to pry the mustache bar around and loosen a bolt here and there to get it out. But the procedure shown in the FSM is best. You can go one step easier and just remove the mustache bar also. I don't know why they don't recommend that way, since then everything is straight up and down. Load comes straight down, goes straight back up. The front cross member and mustache bar are good handles for stabilizing the load too. It's in the RA chapter.
  12. I don’t think that is a safe location to lift the car up, the control arms can bend with too much force on them. Place the jack stands in accordance to the service manual. I personally place them below the doglegs there is a spot there that feels secure. a wise friend once told me; “we are going to have to remove it for access anyway, so just remove it.” Don’t try to skip steps here, you’re only making it harder.

Just a suggestion: if you're parking in a space like that, put the boot on the front tire. If the potential thieves have a tow truck with a grabber, they can pick up the back end and pull the car out easily.

Available in the US for $249. But "out of stock" until end of June. Probably cheap insurance depending on your neighborhood.
  15. Thanks. That's my pride Mayline oak table that I've had for twenty years or so. I also have a matching 10 drawer flat file.

About as good as I'm going to get it. I've got some coilovers from TechnoToyTuning on order. Spendy, but I've just not been ok with the ride height. It's currently on Eibach loweing springs. Hope to get some Rota Shakotan wheels someday. For now, I'll just run it and enjoy it.

Yep! I see it as an insurance policy / a deterrent to make it that much harder. At the end of the day, if they want your car they will take it, but this makes it more difficult / time consuming. It gives me piece of mind when we go on holidays and leave the car at home etc. It comes in two pieces, so it fits perfectly into the spare wheel well - I don’t carry a spare, just a can of puff and an inflator oh and a spare dizzy, leads /plugs, oil, water, fuel pump, bulbs, fan belt, small socket set, screw drives and spanners etc etc [emoji1787]. I figure those items are more likely to fail than the likelihood of having a full on blowout. It cost me £250 about 10 years ago but they seem to have halved in price (and out of stock - I assume because of covid) ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Purpleline-Fullstop-Nemesis-STD-Caravan-Security-Wheel-Clamp-/191892498400?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 This I think is a US supplier .... https://purplelineusa.com/product/nemesis-wheel-lock/

Passenger side is done, now on to the fun stuff, reassembly.
  19. All hand made! Time is money...
  20. The inside is finished. Exterior stucco work starts today. We moved 27th in last Friday and 26th's engine, which has been at a friend's shop, moved in Saturday. I'm slowly moving parts from the rental shop. I had the floor epoxied which turned out better than I ever expected. The overhead doors are really nice.

So true chap! To echo your point, after having our first child, we moved out of London to live in the sleepy countryside village I grew up in. In the 80s, we used to leave our cars parked in the town centre without locking anything. Nowadays, cars are brazenly being stolen off the driveways. Having put up cctv over the driveway, I have to say, it felt odd! I guess society as a whole has changed. Also they closed our local police station and turned it into luxury flats overlooking the cricket pitch!!
