Ruined Wheel Hub?
5 pointsWell I wasn't going to mention it before, but since you asked... The reason you can't find what he's talking about is because we're all at the front of the car except AK... He's at the rear of the car instead of the front. I was going to just let it go until now, but I'm thinking he's been sniffing the spray cans again and someone might want to think about doing a cabin fever intervention.5 points

Exhaust fumes fixes
3 pointsI have a method of finding where exhaust fumes can enter in the rear of the Z. Sorry if this was discussed already but it’s easy and something you can do with supplies you already have. Took my large LED shop lamp and put it in the hatch area and moved it to where I was focusing on. Then turned off all the garage lights. You can see even the smallest pinholes with this method. Then sealed them up with body sealer. A smaller light might be better to fit in different areas but you get the point. I was amazed at all the little holes I could find in seams and rubber boots. Especially useful in the areas between the rear deck and the quarter panel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I'm with the rubber vice gang but I also think heat is nice too. Perhaps some propane on the aluminum piston near the needle will help.2 points

Here in Europe a E31 Head is 1500 euro so the complete engine is a no-brainer.. 🤩2 points

240k Race car - GTR tribute
2 pointsNow the new one. Marcus (kiwi autosport) added a little kink at the beginning as the extractors where not quite equal length. I did not want to pull the extractors off and modify them. So that seemed the best compromise. Time will tell. But sounds a lot more smoother and a little quieter, which is probably a good think as we have a decibel limit at most racetracks.2 points

Your 5mm sheet sounds perfect as long as it's hard enough. Oh, and you really want smooth jaws in the vise. if your vise has serrated jaws you could put two small pieces of flat sheet metal on either side to smooth out the jaws. Good luck and here's hoping they come out without much fuss.2 points

Vintage Connections Discount Code
Copied from my post in the ZX Electrical forum: Use this code for a 20% discount with Vintage Connections: VCWinter20. It's good through Jan 31. By the way, I had issues with checking out at their site. Apparently the cart functionality isn't what it should be. I sent an email to sales@sparckmoto.com with what I was trying to order and asked them to bill my Paypal. Within minutes (during normal business hours), they responded, and I paid for my order.1 point

Z's on BAT and other places collection
Beverly Hills doesn't have the cachet that it used to. The car is race ready though, excess weight stripped, and with the special racing left only alignment on the rear wheel.. And it has the desirable non-EGR intake manifold. And a DieHard battery. p.s. They have other Z's in their showroom.1 point

If all else fails, contact the folks at Z-Therapy in Oregon. They've probably disassembled thousands of Hitachi-SU carbs by now and should know all the tricks for getting the needle out of a piston without damaging anything.1 point

Electric fuel pumps
1 pointThe carter 4070 in my car heard me talking trash about it and decided to blow a fuse on the way home from getting coffee. No idea why it would do that, first time its happened. Luckily i found a fuse buried under the carpets, good think i dont clean eh? In all seriousness it was SO much more quiet in the cabin after the pump died, almost makes me want to get a replace it. @Racer X what rubber isolaters? the small ones that come with it, happen to have a picture of the setup?1 point

Ruined Wheel Hub?
1 pointCheers everybody - it worked! No weird sounds, and the hub rotates silky smooth. @AK260 For future references, is the metal guard from your picture on the hub itself, or part of the axel? I couldn't seem to find what you were referring to either way.1 point

Muffler
1 pointThanks. For my exhaust lines - I'll have them in January. Headers...and my new downpipes from stock manifolds to my lines more like March. Everyone is experiencing delays due to Covid-19 - this is the backlash from earlier in the year and companies desperate to place orders now because they don't forecast an improvement in 2021. Be patient, stay safe and live to enjoy your improved Z in the summer. ps always fit a resonator - it's not just about noise levels and eliminating drone (@7tooZ is right) but engine performance - not having one might sound faster but in reality, you could be losing up to 20hp : Google 'exhaust scavenging '! If you want some more unbiased advice via PM.....write me !1 point

1 pointI ordered one of these the blemish (a small welded tab) does not really make a difference to me, but $100 is $100. I like the way they look, should fit your 2.5" as well.1 point

My two swiss S30Z Fairlady Restoration build thread
Hi Nils, To add to your mental Datsun/Nissan history for Switzerland which is on my website; https://csp311.net/publicity-and-miscellaneous-media-広報およびその他のメディア/swiss-magazine-advert-スイスの雑誌広告/ I think this about 1967, as it ties in with a Silvia exhibited in one of the Dutch car shows.1 point

Ruined Wheel Hub?
1 pointClean the grease out, then take a die grinder with a suitable rotary file, and clean up your indescretions. Take your time, be careful and only remove the displaced material. Be sure to thoroughly remove all bits of metal shavings before reassembly.1 point

240k Race car - GTR tribute
1 pointSeems 240K's they are just everywhere . Some photos of our recent classic racing event. Thanks to Clark C and Tony F for turning up and bringing me a back seat squab. That's Clark's immaculate grey 240K. Everyone was blown away by how tidy it was. Update the signwriting to the new logo and new engine fitted and ready for a proper event. A bit of tuning and we got an extra 10hp out of it. 260hp at the wheels. Leading the field - oh if only it could last. About to get ambushed in the reverse grid race1 point
