  1. Glad to hear that I nailed it. Woot. And BTW... From a distance with no meter measurements, I've diagnosed and identified a problem with your car that you have unable to fix yourself, and the reaction is "kudos, you're half wrong". I've identified the problem that has been confusing you to the point where you needed to ask for help, and your reaction is to make sure that I know I wasn't 100% correct when I said "Your defogger indicator bulb IS burned out" because the REAL story is "Your defogger bulb is not installed". Well maybe it's just me, but that kind of response makes it difficult to want to help in the future. Just like last time with your other thread. So feel free to now spend a whole bunch of words* telling me why my reaction is wrong. Or just don't. And keep it in mind for the future instead. * A whoooooolle bunch. And make sure you include one or two words that make mere mortals reach for their dictionary because they don't have as awesome as a vocabulary as you do.
  2. I got in a tranny fiasco on Bourbon Street a few years ago. I've never been in a fight but that was the closest so far. They are mean.
  3. That is not tar based sound deadener. It is butyl and it will take a semi truck to pull it off... been on the car for a couple years and some pretty hot days already. It’s there for good...
  4. Actually, you weren't "half wrong." There isn't a timer, so you are only 1/4 wrong. ? Of course, if the OP could RTFSM, he would discover that there is absolutely no mention of a timer in that circuit. He could even discover how the circuit is wired from the simple break-out included. Perhaps simple reading comprehension is of more use than Roget's.
  5. p.s. if you can find the number on that bearing you might be able to look it up to see what, exactly, it is. I'm sure it's fine, but just curious. The number's probably engraved on the side of the outer race. Here's a link to browse the different types of bearings. There's a bunch for all kinds of different applications. Looks like Dave and Chas were right, best to have good lubricant flow through yours. It's not what I thought it was. https://www.vxb.com/Sealed-Ball-Bearing-s/198.htm?searching=Y&sort=13&cat=198&show=15&page=2 2nd edit - and just to fill out the bearing saga, a page showing a "rubber molded to a steel plate" seal https://www.grainger.com/product/35JC49?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkqvpqK_S6QIVUtbACh2EvQbAEAQYASABEgK_dPD_BwE&cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&ef_id=EAIaIQobChMIkqvpqK_S6QIVUtbACh2EvQbAEAQYASABEgK_dPD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!402184946084!!!g!439044420138!
  6. yes its a press fit, you need to find a socket that fits so it clears the housing but impact on the bush. then you just hammer it out. Once its out you can press in the new bush in. It helps to heat up the alum housing (I used propane, don't go crazy, just evenly heat it up some on the tail) put the bush in the freezer for an hour before time to install, it will go in with some light taps as it is shrunken, and the alum is expanded. You need to pay attention to the oil feed hole that is cast into the housing so it aligns with the hole in the bush. one more thing when doing the heat/freeze trick, you have to work with some sense of urgency to take advantage of the heat/cold, as the bush will quickly heat up and the alum will quickly cool off once you start the process. just make sure that hole stays lined up.
  7. I have tool and talent envy. Good job. I have a hammer and vice grips . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Moving along well here. Got the motor and complete drive-line installed. Added some more brake components and a few engine bay parts. Planning on putting in the exhaust and intake manifold assembly tonight. Might even get to install the carbs.
  9. Q - "How is the (defrost) indicator connected to the Timer?" A - It's not. Q - "Why does the Defog switch operate the heating elements, but not the indicator?" A - Probably because the defog indicator bulb is burned out. So how can those answers be correct despite all of your intensive research? It sounds to me like there are two faults... 1) Your defogger indicator bulb IS burned out, and 2) You have the indicator bulbs for the defogger indicator and fasten seat belts indicators swapped. Without being able to take any measurements from here, that's the simplest I got. Does your blue "FASTEN SEAT BELTS" warning lamp come on when you turn the ignition to "ON"?
  10. Ya, a few other members of my local z club picked up the zcardepot sender units when they first came out a few months ago and all work great - yes its the factory connector, its plug-and-play.
  11. Yes, no problems at all.
  12. While I agree with Madkaw's statement about C types, (I have one going in my 510 shortly), they are not always as available as I'd like. They also need shifter location in the console adjustment, and shortened drive shafts, and engine mount tweaking, so not all will choose them. Given the reduced cost now of rebuilding a B type myself now vs getting someone else to do it, I will keep all the B's in my life alive until all the shift forks give out.
  13. OK - now you have to tell us how this all came about. How does one accumulate all that? - that's the question I have ever time I watch "American Pickers". I know how I wound up with a bunch of NOS parts - every time I needed a part for a 240Z, I'd order 2 or 3 because the cost of shipping was usually more than the cost of the part. So I'd order 2 or 3 so I wouldn't have to pay the shipping costs again later.
