I have a 1971 Z, serial # 28726. I restored it from bare stripped body to the point where it is now a very nice driver. I'd like it to be as close to original as possible, but given that three cars - '70, a '71 and a '73 - contributed parts, there is some confusion as to what is correct for this body. For instance, I have the centre console that includes an ashtray and a cigarette lighter, but my dash also has a hole meant for a lighter located under the four-way flasher switch. Which is the correct place for the lighter? Second question, the interior door pull handles - should my '71 have both, none, or just one on the passenger side? The floor under the…

Passing on my experience. The clock was repaired in 1983 but always ran way fast after. In the process of redoing the seats, and ordered the foam and seat covers from Interior Innovations (I think they come out of Pakistan). Pictured is my passenger bottom with the new vinyl cover from Interior Innovations, along with my original back. Color is a dull matte color, but the original is more glossy, has two different textured materials. Kind of a shame to redo the top since it looks pretty decent, but have no choice. Kind of bummed how this is turning out. I asked a couple months ago here about which kit others are using, but not much response. I like the material used on this threads seat, except they're missing the vents. Did I buy the wrong kit…

Hey, I just picked up a 1973 240z and as a 6'3 person with long legs I was hoping there was a way to get the seat slid back a bit further. It looks like there are two things in the way though: With the seat slid as far back as it can the back is up against the lower seat belt retractor. The other is looking at the seat rails there are two additional notches the seat could lock into further back but it looks like it's hitting a stop in the rail. I've attached a picture the setup with the seat adjusted as far back as I can get it. There appears to be another 2-3 inches of legroom I could get which would be perfect if I could relocate the seat belt retractor …

I am removing my quarter windows to replace the rubber. I managed to get the retainer screws out without breaking them, but damaged the heads. I would like to know the diameter and pitch of these tiny screws so I can replace them. Thanks!

Hey Guys, Ran into an interesting problem on the Z. Went to install the original driver's side lock on the car (Found it inside the car when I bought it, never was in the door). Anyways, I got it clipped in and noticed that the lock didn't have enough throw to actuate the lock. I looked at forums and it was because the lock had too much slop due to the clip having too much slop on the lock shaft. The solution was to go to just a thicker clip to pick up the slop. Before I did that though, I noticed with the clip out, that the actual seat for the clip had been partially chipped off. Here is what I mean Do you guys have any experience with th…

Hey guys, Wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue as me. Can't see any evidence of someone else with this issue, thus why I am posting. On my 1977 280z the inner door latch has some sort of rubber piece on the eyelet coupling between the latch and the springed rod. Do you know where I can get a replacement, or recommendations for a substitute, or if I should ignore it. It seems to keep the rod from rubbing on the metal it threads through. Hi everyone! I'm in the process of removing the dash to restore it. But seems like I'm stilling missing something. It won't completely come off. I removed: 4x Bolts up top 2x Bolts to "drop" the steering column 4x Bolts connecting the dash to the trans tunnel 2x Bolts holding onto the frame near the doors, one on driver and another on passenger side Some bolts connecting the heater controls to the dash Seems like the passenger side is completely loose, but I feel like the driver side still has some things connected, I'm not sure what though. Hello! Kicking around some ideas here. Anyone experimented with wood veneers on interior components in the Z car or others? Mainly interested in adhesion/finish durability over time. Also curious to know of any installation techniques. Probably going to grab some throw away plastics to experiment with at some point this year. Thanks for any inputs... realize this isn't super common.
