Forgive me father, for I have a soggy bottom! Having put on the new Bridgestone Turanza T005 tyre all round on car, the grip is frankly phenomenal!!! The down side is the occasional rubbing I used to get on the arch lips is now quite frequent as I can load the suspension up a LOT more than with the Michelin “no wet weather grip / easy to slide in the dry” Energy Savers. I also have found that despite my gorgeous Z Story exhaust being tightly installed within 5-10mm of the rear cross member, she has been getting flesh wounds with 2 x 75Kg middle aged men/boys in the car driving over fast bumpy roads and loading up the rear under power in a straight line... …

I have my front suspension all apart except for the tie rod ends. I probably should have broken the tie rod end locking nuts loose before I took it all apart, now it's hard to get a good hold on it. I need to confirm which direction to turn the lock nut, on the passenger side I'm turning it right to left. To brake it loose. On th driver side I understand it is a reverse thread so I'm thinking left to right. Is that right? thanks

To start, I have a 1974 260z (early). I'm in the process of getting the strut out of the car and have run into a really fun issue. The steering knuckle (the thing that attaches to the steering rack) is stuck to the strut casing. The final goal is to replace with Koni inserts. I've seen videos where folks just take out the strut once the two 17mm bolts are released that connect the strut and the steering knuckle. That is not happening for me... Things I've tried: PB blaster (overnight soak) Heat (blow torch) Banging on it Applying torque Pulling on it Pushing on it You name it If I'm an idiot and have m…

Howdy, Looking at redoing some of the front end of my '70 240z. A few questions have come up. Should I replace the bushing in the lower control arm? A 49yr old car, it seems like a smart idea. Should I use the stock one, or use a urethane version? Advantage or disadvantage? Also, what is the the difference in the steering knuckle between an early 240 and later 240? I have seen a different ball joint offered, but not sure how to tell the difference between the two? Thanks Bob

Sorry if this has been asked a bajillion times but i've searched on here and google but can't find what i'm looking for. It looks like the front control arms are the same 70-78 but the rears are year specific (70-73 and 74-78) Physical differences between the two I found here: https://forums.hybridz.org/topic/51104-differences-between-the-240z-and-280z-rear-control-arms/ Found a restored but used (also had urethane bushings already) set of front / rear control arms off a 75 280z. Would the 74-78 be a direct replacement or would I need to purchase different hardware? Would it even fit? Thanks!

I am in the process of re-assembling the front suspension on my 1973 240z. I am wondering if there are large washers on the outboard sides of the crossmember that the large bolt goes through before and after the bolt goes through the crossmember for the lower control arm bushings. I don't recall there being one under the head of the bolt and under the nyloc nut, but it seems as though there could have been...Thanks for the help, Ryals

Here goes.... Started to look at my steering rack before I look at putting it on. Good: Rod ends are perfect, zero play minimal if zero backlash Bad: when the rack is centered, there's almost a dead spot, a tiny notch you can feel when sliding the rack side to side by hand. I couldn't see any damage on the rack, so I guess its on the worm gear and rack combined around the dead center spot, anyone had this? I can't find specs for measuring the rack 'teeth'. how do I narrow the culprit? Steering shaft U joints have a MM of play or so, however I think I can find these..... Any steering rack gods?

I'm getting ready to go through the suspension on my 71 240Z. I find that OEM strut mount insulators are ~$80.00 https://zcardepot.com/products/strut-mount-upper-insulator-front-rear-oem-240z-260z-280z and after market @ ZCarDepot are $48.00. https://zcardepot.com/products/strut-mount-upper-insulator-front-rear-oem-240z-260z-280z-1 Anybody have experience with the after market ones. The saving on all 4 is like $120.00 for the aftermarket.

Hi guys, I'm rebuilding/cleaning the steering rack of my 1977 280Z and I have two questions I hope you guys can answer. 1. My pinion shaft and bearing are stuck. Is there a way to get them out without destroying the bearing? The bearing seems in good condition and I don't know if I can find a good replacement. 2. After sandblasting the housing I noticed a white/transparant plastic peg or nipple or something next to the pinion shaft in the sport where the rack bushing goes. Does anyone know what it is and what it does? I kinda looked like it had a pin hole in it. You can see it in the picture in the middle of the bushing location after a coat on POR-15. …
