Ouch
While using a cutting torch on a parts car one day...a hot piece of slag dropped on my foot, burned through my leather boot, my sock and right into my foot. :stupid: I have never taken off a shoe and sock faster! I now have a really ugly scar from the wicked burn. DUMBASS!!!!!!!!!! Chris

Hey kmack, does that radiator hang down below the beam where the horns mount? Just curious as I almost did this conversion. Thanks, Chris

List of suitable parts from other makes
Mack Truck part number 54mt314dp88 speedo cable--running right now on my 72 Z. $14.75 current price. Worked for last 4 years. Couldnt believe it mated to speedo head and drive on tranny. FWIW Chris P.S. Its 7.3 feet long but you can get shorter ones.

Places to find wheels
Hey Hunter, you're kind of limited if you stick with a wheel with zero or almost zero offset. But, if you get a set of wheel adapter spacers from MSA or Modern Motorsports, you can run any number of wheels that fit most of the newer imports. I run a set of Konig Monsoons that are 40 offset and with the spacers they just fit under the fender lips. And 16 x 7 is much better than the stock wheel at 14 x 5. Here's a pic of the spacer. Much luck, Chris P.S. Tire Rack is a good site for wheels. They have 86 wheels that will fit a 95 Honda Del Sol. Some look pretty good.

Hissing and sticking brakes - bad Booster?
Hi Guys, when the booster on my 72 failed, you could hear vacumn leaking into the drivers compartment at the rod when you stepped on the pedal. And the pedal movement was really stiff. Made the engine stumble when you put your foot on the pedal even the slightest. I got a booster off a 76 280Z at the bone yard but the four mounting studs are set in a bigger square pattern than the 72. Since my 72 is a rusty daily driver I drilled new holes in the firewall and mounted her up. Works good so far. I was told by a local brake supplier that there are no more of the older boosters available. Except from VB and maybe Motorsport. Anyone out there try a rebuild kit in theirs? FWIW Chris

Engine Weight?
Hey Splice, good luck with your project. Be safe and make sure you secure the motor to the hoist and then the stand. That long motor can really wobble on an engine stand. I added bracing to my stand, seemed to help with stability. Much luck, Chris

Engine Weight?
Hey Gary, my mistake, mis-read your post. I too have lifted an auto tranny and a bare L24 block but like you those days are over!:disappoin Chris

Engine Weight?
Damn Gary, you lifted a loaded L28 by yourself with no hoist? I don't want to ever wizz you off!! LOL Chris

Shipping car to Europe
I'm sure Steve hasn't fallen for this but it is a valid point. My dad was selling his Chevy Venture minivan and almost got sucked into a deal exactly as Enrique described. Luckily his business accountant alerted him to that scam. I don't recall where the "buyer" was located but it was Eastern Europe somewhere. I have heard Nigeria has a big scam running using stolen credit card numbers. Seller Beware!! Chris

You may want to go to hybridz.org for 4 barrel info. Most members here run stock carbs or triples. Chris

Engine Swap...
Will is right. Get yourself one of those tilting attachments for the hoist. As you're removing the motor/tranny combo you can tilt the assembly to clear the radiator support and the firewall at the same time. Worked for me, just dont forget the speedo cable!:stupid: Much luck! Chris 72 with L28/SU's

1970 Engine?
I've read this thread with great interest. I dont have a 69 or 70 but I thought it interesting how much higher my engine # is compared to the VIN #. I suspect its due to the L24 going into other vehicles or maybe they were not all that accurate with the block numbering. FWIW Chris

Twister's Galore
Hey Vicky, thanks again for your concern. I went for a drive last night and it was 18.4 miles to the worst damage. There was minor stuff closer but the F4 twister was just too close for comfort. I do have a bunker in the basement. I've heard that some of the people who got hit didnt have basements. Holy Cow that would be scary. I heard one family rode it out in their bathtub in the center of the house. I was at a restaurant in Grand Island Nebraska back in 1980 and an hour or so later the city got hit with 5 twisters from one supercell. Wicked weather. Hurricanes make me nervous as well. I lived in Coral Gables for awhile but never got to experience a hurricane. My uncle shot home movies of the twisters that clobbered Omaha in 75. We watch it every now and then. Morbid but fascinating at the same time. Z-ya, Chris

Twister's Galore
19 confirmed touchdowns Saturday Night. Closest was about 12 miles from me. Count my blessings today!! Three people I know have nothing left. Makes me appreciate things more today. Like all you Z people. This morning people are finding debris as far as 73 miles away. Simply amazing the power of Mother Nature. Peace Chris
