  1. I took the 260Z out to a car show to meet up with other members of the Georgia Z Club. For all of the pictures, go here: Po Boys ? June 2014 (82 Pictures) | Steve's CARtography
  2. Matt, if you're not working tomorrow, bring the car over to Stephen Rogers' place. Tim & I can look at it.
  3. Carl, I talked with Chet today. He appreciated your endorsement of his work.
  4. I was pointing out the green to my wife just about an hour ago. I saw the car in person at Caffeine & Octane three weeks ago. There wasn't much attention to detail, especially under the hood. I didn't try to look underneath, though, so I can't tell you anything about the floor pans or frame rails.
  5. I felt the white one had a rather poor level of detailing, especially since they were trying to sell it for $16,900 about a month or two ago. It seemed like a $10,000 car to me.
  6. Here are some pictures I took of Chet's car back in May: Caffeine & Octane ? May 2014 Edition (82 Pictures) | Steve's CARtography
  7. It's a little unusual to see so many 240Zs listed at the same time in my neck of the woods. Datsun Z Series Historical Race Car | eBay Datsun Z Series 240Z | eBay Datsun Z Series 240Z | eBay I've seen the last two in person. I know the seller of the third car. Chet is a member of the Georgia Z Club. This isn't the first Z he has restored.
  8. I know that in my 260Z, I would feel a pretty good thump at the transition between the driveway and street when going up my driveway. The thump disappeared after changing springs & struts.
  9. I'm just glad it didn't end up worse for you. This is yet another example of why a fire extinguisher is a mandatory item to keep in your classic Z.
  10. I know EXACTLY what you mean, Julio. I'm a little scared myself.
  11. The transistor unit is for the ignition. Look up 280Z ECU on Google and look at the images. Also, refer to the FSM. That will give you a better idea of where to look. If that fails, bribe me to come over. Diet Mountain Dew usually works.
  12. Considering Cheetahs were fiberglass, I would say 2000GT.
  13. In that condition, it's criminal abuse.
  14. Jeremy, here's a link to the Po Boys show: https://www.facebook.com/events/658873810851387/
  15. I'm glad that resolved the issue. If you're on Facebook, join the Georgia Datsun Owners Group. I think one member is trying to have a get-together at his house this Sunday. Also several of us from the Georgia Z Club are going to the Po Boys car show on the 21st. Just look for the events calendar on the Georgia Z Club FB page.
  16. If coolant is getting into the combustion chamber, it can get into the oil. Water won't lubricate the bearings or other moving parts very well.
  17. If it's the fuel gauge, you could try Bob's Speedometer. I believe there are procedures to test the sending unit in the FSM. The gauge is trickier to test. I don't have time at the moment to describe testing it. I am not sure where to get a sending unit refurbished. They are NLA.
  18. I used Chevette springs at all 4 corners. I cut 3 coils off the front and 1.75 off the rear. It is at about stock ride height. It has a firm ride that doesn't seem to jar, but then again, roads are smoother down South. IMHO, try going with 16x7 instead of 15s. You have a better selection of tires.
  19. The 72 doesn't have an intermittent wiper amplifier.
  20. Search for wiper park. I think there is something on this site about that. You might have to just google that with the model of your car.
  21. Read up on cleaning the wiper linkages. Replacing the wiper motor to account for the old linkages is like putting a new engine in the car to compensate for bad wheel bearings. Besides that, the dirty, sticky linkages cause the wiper motor to draw more current, potentially putting your wiring at risk. As for the jets, have you tried to clean them? I have shoved thin strands of wire into them to clean them out. Ultrasonic cleaning may work as well. You can disconnect the jets from the tubing to see if the washer motor still works.
  22. Flat-top carburetors - I'm thinking it's a 73.
