  1. It's the land of 1000 lakes. You need to keep the windows up in the summer to keep out the mosquitoes.
  2. From the translation I saw on the page: Nissan Datsun 40343N3200 ◆ wheel center cap junk
  3. I also found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240-280Z-locking-gas-cap-/112011450002?hash=item1a14671692:g:hEYAAOSwOtBXS68n&vxp=mtr Maybe Jai could write to the seller of this one and ask for a picture/measurement of the underside: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-1200-B210-210-LOCKING-CHROME-GAS-FUEL-CAP-NEW-OLD-STOCK-/142005401286?hash=item21102e76c6:g:FykAAOSwa81XRxMQ&vxp=mtr Another one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-Z-SERIES-1970-1976-240z-260z-280z-Deluxe-A-HEAVY-DUTY-LOCKING-GAS-CAP-/112025793011?hash=item1a1541f1f3:g:bX4AAOSwnFZXXbih&vxp=mtr
  4. Someone who has actually seen the locking gas cap, such as @Montezuma, should probably chime in first to say whether or not that is the right one.
  5. This one isn't as bad... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-280Z-280ZX-wheel-center-caps-new-nos-/301650075306?hash=item463bbedeaa:g:lkAAAOSwX8RXHAwu&vxp=mtr
  6. Do you have a spare kidney? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-280ZX-4-Spoke-Alloy-Wheel-Round-Center-Caps-1979-81-NOS-Original-/282044578482?hash=item41ab2abab2:g:JVwAAOSwvUlWs6L0&vxp=mtr I bought a set a few years ago from an ebay seller in the Middle East for around $80.
  7. It's hard to tell if this is the right one, but it looks close. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Nissan-Gas-Cap-w-keys-old-style-Genuine-Great-Classic-Datsun-models-/291790584662?vxp=mtr&hash=item43f012fb56
  8. Have you searched here for threads on windshield installation? I could have sworn I've seen some over the years. Search over at zcar.com, too.
  9. One of the Georgia Z Club members drives past a property that has a garage decorated like an old Texaco station. He finally saw the owner at the property, so he stopped to see if the owner might let the club do a photo shoot there. The owner agreed. It turns out he once owned a 240Z, and he owns a bunch of classic cars. The owner was a wonderful host, and we got a lot of great photos. There were a lot of great cars on hand, including Joe Travis' (@GeoJoe) nice 73. If you want to get to the full photo set, follow this link: https://georgiazclub.wordpress.com/2016/06/12/making-new-memories-284-photos/
  10. I think that may still be available from the dealer. Have you tried ordering one recently?
  11. Actually, I contacted the Middle Tennessee Z guys through Facebook. They are planning to have Z Attack about once every 3 years. The next one is in 2017. They anticipate the 2020 ZCCA convention in Tennessee to go with the 50th Anniversary of the Z celebration at Nissan NA HQ. It will probably be in May as the last couple of Z Attacks.
  12. Which style? 240Z or 280Z? I find it a big challenge to try to figure out good suggestions. That's why I started this thread. Ideally, it would be a part that works for all S30s or a part that is NLA but have a demand.
  13. I intended it to be the threshold plate. While the originals are aluminum, I would think stainless would hold up well. The scuff plates (black plates) are still available for the 240Z. They aren't available for the 260Z/280Z. The later style might be feasible. I don't know if the scuff plates changed in other markets, though.
  14. Oh sure, you want mine to look really bad. At least I finally got the 240Z rear bumper mounted on the 260Z.
  15. Some of you may be familiar with the Harrington Group (http://www.groupharrington.com/en). They market stainless steel bumpers for 240Zs and other classic cars. The bumpers are built well and mount up to the 240Z very well. I even adapted a set to fit on my 260Z. I started a conversation with Nguyen Thao when I sent a message to let them know I was a happy customer. I suggested to Thao that there could be a market for other stainless steel replica parts for the 240Z (and maybe later Zs, too). I suggested the threshold plate (I accidentally told him door sill.) as an example. I got their attention, and he wants me to send some photos. I'll probably send measurements, too. I think the 260Z/280Z scuff plate might be another good candidate. What other parts do you think they could craft from stainless for our cars? I would like to pass along suggestions (and photos) to see what they think they could produce. I think they could be a great supplier for the community. If you want to see their products on a car, here is a link to my blog posts on mounting the bumpers. I still need to write up the rear bumper mounting. https://fiddlingwithzcars.wordpress.com/?s=bumper
  16. Jim, Jim, Cliff, & Pat - Z Attack will be in 2017. Let's try to meet up there.
  17. A 300ZX forum might be able to provide more information. Have you looked at http://www.xenonzcar.com to see if the FSM is available to get diagnostic info?
  18. No bumperettes on the stainless, but it still looks nice. You can delete the rubber strip, too, but I opted to keep it.
  19. Now I don't feel so bad about shelling out $2,000 for two sets of front & back stainless steel bumpers. Looks nice with the fresh chrome.
  20. The 78 cap won't work on the 76.
  21. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41200-240z-gas-caps-are-outrageous-locking/?page=1
  22. The VIN and door plate info could help resolve this.
  23. Get some underside photos, especially of the frame rails and floor pans. It will help your cause.
  24. Correct. Sometimes the springs break in the door mechanism, causing the door to lock automatically when it closes.
