  1. Is there any chance the rubber brake lines at the wheels are ballooning?
  2. So did you check the orientation of the brake calipers?
  3. Yes, it is unusual. The typical suspects are a battery going bad and loads added to the wrong side (battery side) of the ammeter.

For me, I just would repair the dash harness, but I am hard-headed that way.
  5. Check the calipers. Make sure the bleed screws are at the top of the caliper. Sometimes people install them on the wrong side, and the bleed screws are down. That traps air to the point that it is difficult to impossible to purge.

That toggle switch is not a Nissan part. From the wire colors I can identify the circuits as parking lights (green/white) and dash lights (blue/red).
  7. SteveJ replied to krZing's topic in Electrical
That toggle switch looks to be the kludge that the previous owner tried to do when the parking lights wouldn't come on.

I would be tempted to say it's the seat belt buzzer, but that should only have a black wire and a green wire.
  9. And another nice Mitty article: https://jalopnik.com/why-datsun-and-nissan-are-among-the-most-important-name-1825841897
  10. I'm guessing the owner lives in Nashville. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/datsun/280z/2074218.html
  11. That's a party I should have participated in. I'm going to do a labor swap sometime this spring or summer. A friend will replace my rear bearings while I wire up his Z with relays and LED headlights. Frankly, I think I'm getting the better end of the deal. Of course, I'll probably also be grilling after we are done, so that does even it up some.
  12. Wow. Grease and a hydraulic press. Dang, Capt. You sure do know how to throw a wild party.
  13. Have you tried going through the troubleshooting section of the FSM?

ZCON is in Atlanta in 2018. Track day at Road Atlanta. You might even get to be on the track with John Morton. Autocrossing, karting, brewery night, mountain drives...You KNOW you want to make it. Special guests include Toshio Yamashita, designer of the Z32; Yoshihiko Matsuo, designer of the 240Z; and Peter Brock & John Morton, two of the legends from BRE. Go to http://zcon.org/conventions/2018/?page_id=132 to get to the registration link. https://youtu.be/itAz7Szpb-k
  17. Meet the people who made the Z a winner right out of the starting gate. BRE legends John Morton and Peter Brock are coming to ZCON. Go to http://zcon.org/conventions/2018/?page_id=132 to find the registration link.
  18. I think the dome screws will interchange. I seem to remember scavenging screws from my collection of flat top carburetors when I swapped over to the early carburetors.
  19. McMaster Carr does carry Aluminum BSPT plugs.

Do you know how to use a multimeter? It would be good to know if you have continuity between that green/blue wire and the contact that is missing a wire.

You could search for Nissan FAST in Google. Some people may have uploaded it (possibly an older version) on some file sharing sites.
  22. Good diagnostics. Carpartsmanual.com lists 24023-N4200 and 24023-N4201 as comparable parts. The first part number is 75-07 and before build dates, and the second part number is for build dates of 75-08 and later.

Funny, the link is good for me. Heck, I can still get to the service manuals, too. Here's the google search that I used to find the link I posted. https://www.google.com/search?q=350z+parts+manual&oq=350Z+parts+manual&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j0l2.4167j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 It was the 8th hit on that search. EDIT: I didn't realize you got the message when you tried to download something. I'm glad I grabbed the Z manuals when I did.

This is the closest I could find with a quick search: https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/nissan-350z-parts.html There is also FAST: https://diyservicemanuals.com/nissan-spare-parts-catalog/

Shoot me a reminder on Friday so I can give you a more detailed breakdown on what you should do.
