  1. @jayhawkI really like your Z "An Instant Classic" history poster! Would you mind if I used it?
  2. A funny cup holder story... Of course my wife's 50 Chev pickup doesn't have cup holders (we did get some recently that clip into the speaker grills in the dash). She got an award at the show and my wife had our 5 or 6 year old granddaughter in the truck with her while they were waiting in the award lineup. When they got to the front of the line my wife handed our granddaughter her water cup and asked her to hold it while she accepted the award. While the granddaughter was holding my wife's cup she said... "Grandma, you need to sell this truck and get one with cup holders".
  3. I wonder what Fran told Hagerty the declared value should be for insurance? My guess is that when Fran stated the value it prompted Hagerty to see the car for themselves which then prompted the article.
  4. Agree on the swiss cheese on the back of the door (at least you don't see it when the doors are closed). I thought it was tasteful the way they widened and lengthened the car to not do flares and have some big meats on the road. The widening is most noticeable on the space between the bucket and the hood. I like that they stayed Datsun powered and kept the interior stock except for the shift knob. And boy howdy, that did have to cost a bunch to do!
  5. I'm not real keen on the frenched bumpers.

  7. My 73 held its tune very well too. The dealer did all the stuff to remedy the vapor lock in the summer and if it helped it was minimal. I can remember many days on the way home from work popping the hood latch to improve airflow in the engine bay which did help.

  9. That seems odd the way yours works. In my old 73 (that went away over 30 years ago) I don't remember a seat belt light. There was a buzzer and if the seat belt wasn't latched the buzzer would buzz when in gear, but not in neutral. This seems opposite of the way you described your seat belt light working.
  10. When I did all the external bulbs to LED I used this flasher for both hazard and blinkers, works fine. 11. You are right on that one! In my '73 I removed the tail light access covers (flat) from the rear panel and enlarged the holes to accommodate some 6X9 speakers. Had to remove the outer pins on the back panel so that I could slightly flex the panel so the speaker magnets would not be touching the tail light bulbs. I mounted my Sony TC-30 cassette deck on a slide off bracket on the vertical wall behind the passenger seat. This had better access to the cassette player from the drivers seat. Took a way different approach for my current '71 car. RetroSound in dash bluetooth radio and this week I scored a used 6X9 speaker panel that thezstore used to sell. This way I keep the stock taillight cover panel to go with the car if I ever sell it. I then conned a friend into 3D printing a radio cover plate that looks closer to stock with labels.
  12. Don't forget the PCV valve at the carb balance tube. I've never seen a plated one like in your picture.
  13. It did feel larger, but not very much. Looking at the nose to nose they are not that different on length, but the new one is higher and definitely heavier. Sitting in it kind of felt like home but it's definitely not as roomy as my 240z. The 3 gauges on the dash were left - low speed turbo, center - high speed turbo and I think the right was a clock (I didn't get that far right on the gauges). The dash is a screen that you can set up how you want it. Driving the car was night and day different from my 240Z (I do need to go through my suspension). Man, it's a goer! I would need some time to get used to it. The car was definingly silent! I killed it right off the bat. The controls are way tight. Feels like electric power steering, really touchy brakes. 1st gear seemed like it was lower than I expected it to be, but when you stomp on it in 2nd (pointed in the direction you want to go) it just GOES! It feels like it's very agile.
  14. Got a text from our cousin who is at a local Nissan dealer said "It's here". Since the weather is clear I took mine down. Yes, I drove it! Had no trouble doing a little fishtail accelerating on the freeway on ramp.

What about these? I thought the diff between 44-180 and 43-180 is plastic frame vs steel respectively. All Years Chevrolet Camaro Parts | F309 | Trico-Style Wiper Blade Insert; 18"; Each; Replaces 43-180 | Classic Industries This is an unproven guess though.
  16. Here's all I can say about how long they took. I checked my email in my Z folder and found that I ordered 0n 13 June 2017. I would guess that my thread on doing the seats was within days (16 July 2017) of receipt of the goods. Looks like it was about a month from order to go to work on the install. Could be longer in today's world, I know they're in India and didn't really seem to be "heavy" on the communication side. They did come through and I'm very happy with what I got.
  17. I used Interior Innovations for my seats and they turned out great! Here's the thread I posted on the seats and you wouldn't believe who requested more pictures. I also did the shift and e-brake boots from them. Of course this was 6 years ago so if you're like me the memory isn't what it used to be! 😉
  18. When I did all LED in 2017 on the external bulbs I user this 2 pin flasher from Amazon and it works just fine, but it isn't adjustable.
  19. No, it's not. Ashtray should be in front of the shifter and it should have a wooden shift knob.
  20. Just checked on my Mfg 12/70 car - 4SP. The clip looks the same as the one pictured but there are no markings at all on either side of the plastic wire clip.
  21. From Hallmark for 2023.
  22. From this post by Woodworker B I found the jbugs hose to be very nice. 240Z – Fuel Tank | WoodWorkerB EDIT: these were fuel tank hoses, not coolant, sorry.
  23. My experience with new Z Therapy carbs is I put them on the car and they ran just fine out of the box. Didn't touch them. I live at almost 5,000 ft and think they might be a little rich because I bet Z therapy probably sets them up for lower altitudes.
  24. Interesting that the prior owner manually wired for an electric fuel pump. Must not have known that the stock harness from day one provisioned for an electric pump. Even Datsun dealer service used it when they came out with some of the mitigation for the vapor locking issue most prevalent in the 73 240z (ask me how I know).
