  1. This morning i got a mail from Trevor.. He's a guy who restores cars and has a lot of vid's on youtube that explain a lot over restorations and stuff, very interesting. (look for : trev's blog.) He told me that he could see .. only from the pictures i sended, that it was a professional restauration! AU... AU.... AU!!!.. ALL THOSE FEATHERS UP MY BUTT Oeps...!! sorry... Go see on youtube what he's doing.. trev's blog, about taking out dents and welding.. making panels and stuff, he's a good teacher!
  2. Yeah yeah.. Last week i got out of the car and hurt my back really bad.. went to the doctor and he told me i have a hernia... It's véry painfull.. i barely can walk.. I wanted to make a set of pic's of the finished car.. (inside and out) but i'm at the moment more or less tied to my chair and bed.. (A lot of #%&^$#*^%$...GRrrrrr..) Here i got this one on my pc so can post this one, made in Boxmeer (The Netherlands of course, When i was at the carpartsshop) The car is stil not waxed... I did install the last inside trimmings before the hernia.. Doctor says i can take 12 weeks to recover..
  3. Pic's would help.. You have the auto trans flex plate? (because thats a different one.) One seldom hears of this, most of the time it's the other way around.. going to a 5 speed and throwing the auto in the trash.. As the auto from a 240/260/280 Z is a slugish p.o.s. (sorry) i would research if a modern 350/370z auto could work behind a 240/260/280z engine? I believe it has been done already?
  4. I always make a "wiper" out of tape on the shaft and activate the wiper to look if it is in wiping the right way.. never crashed a wiper. Another solution is to put the wiper on in the upright position for the first test.. if possible.. but i recomment to do it with a piece of tape.
  5. The trouble is.. we have here in the netherlands english s30 serv.man with a american 240z in it. (surround lights, rozets on bumpers.. a euro does not have..) but here are some specs, wire diam. 11,4 mm, coildiam. 100mm windings 10,65 free height 381mm installed height 225mm normal load 288kg. spring constant 1,85 kg/mm. Years ago i changed my rear springs because the orig. us. springs were to soft. (50 kg of sandbags and the exhaust came on the ground!) then i installed my spare (euro) springs and they are much stiffer! So now i think the 1,85 kg/mm. constant of the spring is for the US-spring, the euro spring is a lot stiffer? I do remember that on the fiche i could select 1 out of 5 different struts! You could look for different springs on a fiche 240z..
  6. Hi, thank you for telling me! But it's only the one, there are 2 different strips needed for 1 shield. and mine is already in.. There is a z(x) partsdealer in the states that still has that strip.. (z store or zcardepot or something..) Now is to find out if this is the other one.. ? But i no longer need a set..
  7. GOOD question, i had aftermarket (240z/260z)wheels and original wheels (from a 280zx) and they had completly different thickness in the lug nuts! Testfit them in the wheel when you have it off the car.. they should fit properly.
  8. I will take a pic of my old wheel color..(one of these days...pff.. busy but no energy at all..) it's a blue/grey... Thanks for the pic's. I got a set of 4 wheels and hubcaps from the UAE (emirates) imported long ago and they have also blue very metallic looking hubcaps.. There are also differences in the edge of the circle where the z is in.. btw, have you noticed the lower left z is upside down in your pic? not many people notice that..
  9. Applause applause! Much cleaner look, the one i also prefer! You do know that the rear side light was original not orange but red? it was a side light not a flasher.. You can delete that one, (I know i did.) .
  10. Which of the 2 blue car pic's is the resent one? the above? It has no longer the side lighting and flasher on the side? Also like your yellow one more without the scaffolding on the rear bumper! ?
  11. Just a look on ebay.com tells you? I think they are very rare original in the original packing.. Her some NEAR MINT ones.. for.....US$1949,- (Hope yours are still in the factory sealed bags?) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Set-Of-4-DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-HUBCAPS-NEAR-MINT-ORIGINAL-CONDITION/174305485080?hash=item28956aa118:g:5GIAAOSw8zJe1-Nw
  12. I see a big hole round the needle here !!! (TOP PIC!) were the other has not! (compare this lower pic with the other one) youre missing a part here? The carbs with the part missing round the needle sucks less air? let us know! (Can't believe no one saw this?)
  13. Also, you see 2 left and 2 right ones.. (watch the lips on them) left 2 and right 2 peaces in pic are the same..
  14. I think anti squeek plates for brakepads.. antisqueek plates. A shim is to correct thickness of something like a doorlatch.. when one needs a correction in hight or width.
  15. You where welding near the sensors on the coolant.. maybe you damaged the other sensors.. It is very difficult to say what the problem is as there are many variables.. get yourself a serv.manual and a electronics guy.. ? All i can say go through it systematical.. good luck let us know if you find something.
  16. some pics that i found may help.. If i compare the screens it could be a 280zx screen.
  17. I just put one in 2 weeks ago.. i recall to measure a 131 cm inside from widest (lower) corners, measured from the inside.. not sure.. at the moment i have none reserve so can't measure one for you.. (exact.. if no one else reacts send me a pm and i measure the screen in my car from the outside square left up to low right.)
  18. Obviously the wrong foam? why is it so wobly? 1 sheet of 3mm thick shout work out better, now the added ones don't make it flatter..
  19. Hello Mark, I follow your build a little... and think it's going to be a very nice car! only the door carts... You should have put some foam inbetween? That would look much better if i dare say... Just a few mm thick is sufficient.
  20. That was my idea also! Last year i bought me an english wheel .. I don't like the glassfiber junk on my 240z so IF i start to restore it.. this time i'm putting in some steel fenders in the rear.. or maybe aluminium (also aluminum.. but we dutchies say: aluminium.. not aluminum) But that gives al kind of problems with the electric/chemical reactions between the steel and alu.. I'm thinking about it to! Would be nice to switch sometimes.. scare the hell out of someone who drives in your way haha.. Never realy looked for but i think there are electric valves to weld into your muffler(system). Let us know if you find something!
  21. Something is going seriously wrong here.. I loaded a pic of the left extra handle.. and it did'nt work well.. my question.. did an early 240z have that one also on the left driverside door?
  22. I've seen the missing seems to.. but what about that extra handle on the driverside door? is that a feature of the early 240z or? my feb '71 does not have it..
  23. I've seen the video to! Nice car. If my car sounded like that the cops would make a very small package of my car in no time! haha.. Those rear wheel arches are poly glass fiber? I'm just looking around for my 240z.. (i'm almost ready with my " 280zx 1979 2+2 slick roof restauration", here on this site to see!) Is it a set i can buy somewhere? I think yours sounds nice but my experience is that after some time it gets irritating.. I would install a (electric) valve, so you can switch it.. (also useful when the cops are in near distance! ? )
  24. For sale where?
