My n42 had bronze seats. The n47 on my 9/76 build date 1977 has steel seats.

If you replace the head gasket it'd be a chance to pull the front cover off and check the timing chain and guides, tensioner too. Maybe a new water pump since they're available and not very much money. Check the rubber on the motor mounts in the engine bay. Those are fairly cheap too.

I found the right size low pressure fuel rated hose for my vent lines at a local O'Reilly parts store. Seems like 5/8" was the larger size and they had it. Used two 90 degree brass 3/4" PEX for the 180 degree bend. Saved a lot of money and nobody knows but us.

I've learned something very important about end of life. People need closure even it's just a minute or 2. My guy was abducted it feels like and it still bothers me. Hey all. The guy I worked for off and on, presently on at the time, past away in his sleep at the end of January. I've gone from a great 30 hour a week job to 55 hours a week by myself running a paint store. He had that and was a general contractor plus 88 two bedroom apartments plus another 10 or so commercial rentals. We lost our best employee when he didn't wake up one morning so I'm trying to help his family which he kept out of his businesses as best he could. I read the site every day but can't reply too much because of how busy day to day is. Making a lot of money is my get out of bed every morning motivation and his family is my family too. Saving up to do things in the future. That P90 head is my next project. I miss participating and chatting with the forum members but I must help the family get all his finances in order. He was a private guy that wouldn't worry us with the behind the scenes going ons. I'll be more active asap. Cliff

I have Hagerty for my Zs. $40,000 agreed value on my '72. $10,000 agreed on my '77. This year's price was $191 up from $189 last year. A guy came up from Birmingham and valued the cars, took pics of the garage and the locks on the doors. Hard to beat their coverage, prices. I think I have 3 free flatbed tows a year. 3,000 miles a year per car max. I put maybe 500 on the 240 a year so I've built up an extra 10,000 if I decide to drive Route 66 a few times. Get YOM (year of manufacture) tags if your state allows. You pay once and that's it. Here's my '72 with YOM tag.

Well that's the reason I run high octane pump gas. My car sits for a month or so but when I finally have time for an early morning cruise through my close proximity "loop" I stop and add fresh 93 octane to perk the old gas up. So far so good but I do have a high end flutter. Tomorrow morning I'm going to drive it and see if I can nail it down. Please stay tuned....I'll most likely need your help. 🥰

What's your thinking on cars that stay in the garage mostly? I know people reccomended adding octane boost for cars that sit for awhile between driving. I've gone on the idea of more octane fuel added would kind of keep me on plane with additives without the exta effort but I learn something everytime I read classiczcars.com.

I filled my '72 until it dripped from the fill hole. They possibly filled it into the vent hole if they couldn't get the fill hole plug loose and out. I've read that before.

Once you click one it stays for a very long time. I'm always signed on to classiczcars.com so I don't have issues unless I'm on my desktop at work which I never log on. So I see your glitches too Zed Head when I'm at work.

I used to put a spare behind the tag, on one of the tag fastener screws/bolts. Then I found out that was everyone's secret hide. Now I have them zip tied on the rear frame behind the rear tire. BTW, my USA '72 does not have the spare key spot we're talking about.

Seems like there's a rod with cotter pin that goes to auto transmission you could unhook and try and move the selector to neutral. I've seen that somewhere before, not positive it's a Z thing. Hopefully it's just stuck drums.

The temperature here has been ideal for Z trips but the flipside, time to do as much property maintenance as I can before the heat and humidity set in. Well there's your problem right there, California Datsun. I used Hasting chrome faced rings on my 240 rebuild. Any machine shop can get those and the price was reasonable.

You can also put the pickup hose in a Jerry can of gas and bypass the whole tank and crap. That's how I nailed my my problem down. A 2 gallon jug fits perfect in front of the radiator. Bungee cord to keep it upright.

Thump on the tank to make sure you have gas. The gauge could be off. Mine is. If you haven't yet, put a Fram G2 filter right out of the tanks supply hose. That way you can see if it has gas if this happens in the future. Take the gas cap off and see if it'll crank. Sometimes the vents get clogged after cleaning and sealing the tank. Try sticking a red straw off a spray can, WD-40 type, down the vent bung on the float chamber. If the carb has fuel that straw will be "bouncy" feeling. Good luck with it. I couldn't get out my neighborhood for a week until I figured out my problems.
