  1. "I checked between the booster and master cylinder and I didn't see anything that looks like it's fallen out of place or is disconnected." This is where a good picture could have helped possibly.
  2. you meant msa has them for 279 not 179 right? I thought damn thats cheap so went to their website to check if they had a sale. Now is your opportunity to get away from the nla expansion valve and go generic aftermarket. Or if you have any 79-81 evap cores laying around try them to see if they fit. They look pretty close in size looking at pictures.
  3. Welcome back to zcar ownership. I'm curious as to what motivated you to sell a car that you owned that long. Here is the website that has the 240z registry. the Z Car Home Page With lots of people lowering their cars, it should be easy to find someone who has a set of stock 240 springs. Put an ad in parts wanted in one of the zcar websites. Battery hold downs are probably still available at the dealer. But if you don't want to deal with dealer, ebay, motorsports, or black dragon have them.
  4. good used ones come up on ebay occasionally. Living in houston you probably use the a/c alot so you need a brand new compressor. You can adapt other hitachi's but have to have new hoses that attach to the compressor built. I use the mjs170 on mine. It bolts on and is used in many subaru's and nissan's of the 90. You can still find brand new ones for cheap... errr under 300$. There are later ones with a serpentine belt. You can use that one if you change out the clutch for a v-belt clutch. I got these hoses from the wrecking yard. donor was a 90's sentra and the a/c shop built them so they would fit my 78. Its been 8 years and my a/c still works great. Im in hawaii so i use it every day year round.
  5. I had a strange shimmy in my rt front wheel for quite a while that just seemed to get worse and worse as time went by. I was starting to get a strange scuffed wear pattern on the outside edge of the tire too. When making turns into parking lots or turning corners i'de hear a popping noise. Then in the final round the tire started shaking. Shaking so much that it started to shake the trans oil out of the strut. I first thought loose strut. Tightened down the gland nut. No fix. Tightened the steering rack hold downs. No fix. Then replaced the strut with good one.No fix. Then tightened down the wheel bearing. No fix. Then rotated the front tire to the back. A little improvement but wheel still had popping noise and sloppy steering and shake. Finally took off the hub and inspected the wheel bearings. Didn't look bad to me. A little scuffing but nothing that jumped out at me as a bad bearing. I then replaced the whole hub with another and the noise and shimmy were finally gone. I hope this helps someone else that has a stubborn wheel shake they can't find. Mileage on the car is about 150,000 so thats probably the max you want to put on the front wheel bearings. miles
  6. bad battery
  7. I was just about to post a link to this video then i saw it was already here. I had never seen the prototype that was a targa. i wish they had made that along with the coupe.
  8. there is no drain plug. you have to pull the pan to drain the fluid

That 70 psi may be a typo or static Pressure. If not a typo stop using it Immediately.
  11. love the way the speedo goes from 90 to 110. Hard to tell if thats editing or the typical zcar jumpy speedo
  12. Datsun : Z-Series 240z in Datsun | eBay Motors looks a little rough but if you're into saving low vin # cars this one is pretty low number. strange rust on the rear quarter. never seen it in that place before. not a blue and gold plate so could be out of state or salvaged at some point.
  13. why do you think its the a/c relay? do you not hear the a/c clutch engage when you turn on the a/c?
  14. for 1500 bucks you can buy a truckload of 5 speeds

I've adjusted my mind to compensate for the non-linear curve of my gas gauge.
  17. Well i guess its about time bodymen are Compensated for the dirty nasty smelly Carcenegen filled air they breath. When i did it for a living i barely got By. Glad i have the skill because i sure As hell wouldnt put more into the Paint than the whole car is worth. This guy is finding that out the hard way
  18. Its not going to sell for that price. 2 hours to go.. very nice car but 10k for a paint job?

your rust doesn't look as bad as mine. I cut out the whole bottom area and where the quarter attaches to the filler. I also removed the interior panel and checked for rust on the back side and blasted it with paint. Its very important to get a good seam sealer to seal the gap to prevent water from entering between the 2 layers of metal. Everyone should probably reseal theirs even if there is no obvious rust because its a common area for water to get into.
  20. Whoever got these factory frame rails got a great deal. There can't be too many of these left out there. I stopped bidding around 400 because shipping would have matched that to hawaii. The rails weren't the most important part, it was the tc boxes. Nobody makes those aftermarket yet as far as I know. btw final sale price was 455

  22. Since expansion valves for the zx are easier to find than the long extinct s30 expansion valves, yes i have 3 brand new ones, has anyone tried swapping out the evaporators? They look very similar in shape and i already have a 79zx high pressure line and dryer on my s30.

http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air-conditioning/standard-receiver-drier-with-push-on-fittings-42.php The only problem is finding the right size barbed fitttings. Measure your hose inside diameter and see if they sell your size. Personally i like the hose kits that you can assemble yourself and add o-rings and better fittings but the old barbs work ok if your hoses are in good conidtion.
  24. how did that dohc L6 project ever work out or did it leak coolant?
  25. If you can't get a perfectly smooth ride even after replacing rubber suspension bushings, try getting the tires balanced while the tires are on the car.
