What gender is it?
If you're like most people, common everyday items look inert to you. But what you may not know is that many of them have a gender. For example. . . Ziploc Bags -- Male, because they hold everything in but you can see right through them. Copier -- Female, because once turned off, it takes a while to warm up. It's an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but it can wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons. Tire -- Male, because it goes bald, and often it's over-inflated. Hot Air Balloon -- Male, because to get it to go anywhere you have to light a fire under it -- and, of course, there's the hot air part. Sponges -- Female, because they're soft and squeezable and retain water. Web Page -- Female, because it's always getting hit on. Subway -- Male, because it uses the same old lines to pick up people. Hourglass -- Female, because, over time, the weight shifts to the bottom. Hammer -- Male, because it hasn't evolved much over the last 5,000 years, but it's handy to have around. Remote Control -- Female . . . Ha! You thought it'd be male. But consider -- it gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know the right buttons to push, he keeps trying.

Location Poll
Billcapp, sorry about that. I voted but forgot to post! I'm in Ventura, Ca. Soon to be Las Vegas, I hope. For those of you who don't know where Ventura is, it's 60 miles (132 km) north of Los Angeles on the coast. Nice town but too expensive to live in. And too many "Environmental Nazis".

Side Flashers / Side Markers
I've seen a few reversed myself and asked the owners if they were aware of this. They usually responded that a body shop/painter had installed them incorrectly. I believe the faces of the lenses were designed to be perpendicular to the front/rear axis of the car to notify cars approaching from the side of the its presence.

bought this car last night...
Hey datsunfreak, That's a very nice '75 Z. I'm a '75 280Z owner myself and my car is a long way, externally anyway, from being as nice as yours. I see you have the period correct, though not factory, turbine aluminum wheels. Nice! In your "after" picture, are you planning to put those chrome wheels on your car? And do you know the owner or the manufacturer of those wheels? Rob

Show us where your from
What would really be cool is (I realize this is a bit of a stretch) to be able to set the mouse pointer on a map marker and have the members' photo pop up right there! Maybe that'll entice the laggers to post their pics!

Monster Garage
There have been times when I've seen that childish look in his eyes that seem to say "Ya, lets see what happens if..." I've known guys like Jesse and they have been genuine, caring people committed to what they believe in. And they've been wild as hell too!

Monster Garage
It Looked real to me! BTW, I thought it was pretty cool how Jessie insisted on having a second seat installed right next to his for his "Number One Fan" Tyler and the tribute to Tyler at the end of the segment. Brought tears to my eyes (Tyler was about the same age as my son).

Monster Garage
He/she apppears to be in the middle of a 'conversion'. Or the results of WAY too much chemical activity. Cool wooden leg though!

Globalization anyone?
Have you been keeping up with your World History? Well, just in case you have been slipping, here is a "must read". QUESTION: What is the truest definition of Globalization? ANSWER: Princess Diana's death QUESTION: How come? ANSWER: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was drunk on Scottish whiskey, followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor, using Brazilian medicines! And this is sent to you from an American, using Bill Gates' technology, and you're probably reading this on one of the IBM clones, that use Taiwanese-made chips, and a Korean-made monitor, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in a Singapore plant, transported by lorries driven by Indians, hijacked by Indonesians, unloaded by Sicilian longshoremen, trucked by Mexican illegals, and finally sold to you. That, my friend is Globalization.

My BEST Datsun Day.
kyteler, I can understand your excitement. What a beautiful 240Z! And he's got TWO of them. Does that mean he could "loan" you one occasionally for the weekend? That'd be cool. Also, you seem to know your way around a camera. Nice shots. I look forward to see more! Rob

Man of the house
The husband had finished his book, "Man Of The House", by the time he reached home. He stormed into the house and walked directly up to his wife, pointing a finger in her face, he said, "From now on, I want you to know that I am the man of this house, and my word is law!" "You are to prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, I expect a sumptuous dessert afterward. Then, after dinner, you're going to draw me my bath so I can relax. And, when I'm finished with my bath, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?" "The f___ing funeral director," said his wife.

Quarter window seals
The gap you have sounds normal. You may just need the seal that attaches to the front of the quarter window frame to fill in the gap. Chloe has them for my '75z for about $35.00. What's happening to mine is the front quarter window frame sticks out so far that even without the front seal there it's interfering with the back of the door's window frame to the point where I have to slam or push the door closed to shut it.
-
Do you know this car?
It sure looks alot like the new Dodge Ram blue.

Quarter window seals
Has anyone replaced the quarter window seals? My window was broken and replaced by an autoglass repairman a few years ago. He evidently didn't fit it completely into the body because the windows' front frame has eventually worked its way out to the point that I have a difficult time closing my drivers' door. So I'm looking at replacing the old and cracked rubber seals that seal the glass to the frame, hold the frame to the body, and installing the rubber piece that seals the front edge of the frame to the back edge of the door window frame. If anyone would like to share their experience with this situation I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance! :classic:

Hi All!
It's great to have another "Rob" in the club. I'm sure you'll enjoy the people and topics here. They're a great bunch with alot of knowledge about Z cars as well as an abundance of patience. Is this your first Z car? It's quite a looker! More pics please. :cross-eye

Battery weakens when engine's hot
I had the exact same thing happen to me, with three starters in a row. It turned out that the parts store I bought the first starter from (the store replaced the other two under warranty) gave me the wrong starter. It turned out they were giving me a starter for a Datsun 4 cylinder engine! After I pointed out the difference (starter motor length) they gave me the correct unit and I've had no problems since. I'll try to get a measurement if you want it. Good luck!:classic:

"Swaztika" wheel value?
I went to check the wheels out last night. On a scale 1-10 they're a 9 in the structural catagory and a 3 in the appearance catagory. They have a couple of nicks in them and would require days of cleanup to make them usable. They're definately NOT worth the $300 USD he wanted for them! It's too bad because I really need to get tires onto wheels that can be balanced. Thanks for all your help, Rob

"Swaztika" wheel value?
I have an opportunity to buy a set of 15" 280ZX Turbo swaztika wheels that are in fair shape and there's no curb rash on them. I haven't seen them yet but they probably only need polishing up a bit to make them look nice. The set will include lug nuts and caps. My question is, what do you guys (and gals) think there are worth? They are located close to me so there isn't an issue with shipping. Thanks for whatever advice you may have. Rob
