Hi Bill. No, I didn't write it. My cousin sent it to me today. Actually I have no idea who wrote it. I wish I did because I'd like to thank them.

I am asking for help for my daughter
Hi Gary, I pray that the Lord touches your daughter, AND you and your family. And also the doctors, nurses, and staff. I know that this affects everyone. It's a good thing that your daughter is surrounded by a caring, loving family, and that she's young...well , compared to me she's young. I knew Moses! ha ha ha. I know that helps alot and is important! God bless you buddy, Rob

There was a thread earlier asking for suggestions on music from the era of the 240z and a member was asking for help with poems. The poem below may be more than PUSHER can use, and it goes back to before the 240z, but I thought some of you might be able to relate to it and enjoy it too. So here goes... Fifty years ago...... This little poem tells it pretty much like it was 50 years ago................ A little house with two bedrooms and one car on the street, A mower that you had to push, to make the grass look neat. In the kitchen on the wall, we only had one phone, And no need for recording things -- someone was always home. We only had a living room, where we would congregate, Unless it was at meal time, in the kitchen where we ate. We had no need for family rooms or extra rooms to dine, When meeting as a family, those two rooms would work out fine. We only had one TV set and channels - maybe two, But always there was one of them, with something worth the view. For snacks we had potato chips, that tasted like a chip, And if you wanted flavor, you made Lipton's onion dip. Store bought snacks were rare, because my mother liked to cook, And nothing can compare to snacks in Betty Crocker's book. The snacks were even healthy - with the best ingredients, There was no label, with a hundred things that made no sense. Weekends were for family trips, or staying home to play, We all did things together, even go to church to pray. When we did our weekend trips, depending on the weather, No one stayed at home because, we liked to be together. Sometimes we would separate, to do things on our own, But we knew where the others were, without our own cell phone. Then there was the movies, with your favorite movie star, And nothing can compare to watching, movies in your car. Then there were the picnics, at the peak of summer season, Pack a lunch and find some trees -- and never need a reason. Get a baseball game together, with the friends you know, Have real action playing ball -- and no game video. Remember when the doctor used to be the family friend, And didn't need insurance - or a lawyer to defend The way that he took care of you, or what he had to do, Because he took an oath, and strived to do the best for you. Remember when the country, was united under God, And prayer in schools and public places, was not deemed as odd. Remember when the church was used for, worshipping The Lord, And not used for commercial use, or for some business board. Remember going to the store - and shopping casually, And when you went to pay for it, you used your own money? Nothing that you had to swipe or - punch in some amount, Remember when the cashier person, had to really count? Remember when we breathed the air, it smelled so fresh and clean, And chemicals were not used on the grass, to keep it green. The milkman and the bread man used to go from door to door, And it was just a few cents more, than going to the store. There was a time when mailed letters, came right to your door, Without a lot of junk mail ads, sent out by every store. The mailman knew each house, by name and knew where it was sent, There was not loads of mail addressed to: "Present Occupant". Remember when the words "I do" meant, that you really did? And not just temporally, till someone blows their lid. There was nothing as "no one's fault;" we just made a mistake, There was a time when married life, was built on give and take. There was a time when just one glance, was all that it would take, And you would know the kind of car, the model and the make. They didn't look like turtles, trying to squeeze every mile, They were streamlined, white walls and fins -- and really had some style. One time the music that you played, whenever you would jive, Was from a vinyl, big holed record called a forty-five. The record player had a post, to keep them all in line, And then the records would drop down, and play one at a time. O sure we had our problems then - just like we do today, And always we were striving -- trying for a better way. And every year that passed us by, brought new and greater things, We now can even program phones, with music or with rings. Oh the simple life we lived, still seems like so much fun, How can you explain a game -- just kick the can and run? And why would boys put baseball cards, between bicycle spokes? And for a nickel, red machines had little bottled cokes. This life seemed so much easier - and slower in some ways, I love the new technology but I sure miss those days. So time moves on and so do we - and nothing stays the same, But I sure love to reminisce, and walk down memory lane.

Rack and pinion
Where is Turlock? I'm thinking maybe, if you're close to a club member, you could take your car to one of them to give the steering a try. My 75z's rack is original with over 250,00 miles on it and it's not hard to turn at all while the car is in motion. Even while it's parked it's not too difficult, and I'm running a tire with an 8" wide tread contact patch. If you're not too far from Ventura, Ca. I'd be more than happy to help you out!

Florida Z
The only things missing from that car is a full grown pine tree growing up through the engine bay and a family of opossum living in it! Gees...I'd be embarrassed to let anyone SEE this heap.

Rims - Western Cyclones?
I've been considering these wheels made by Bassett. They aren't exactly the same, but similar in style. The web page states the are only available in 5 lug configurations in black or silver, but I've been corresponding with Steve Haines at Bassett and he's confirmed they can be made in the 4x4.5" bolt pattern. I realize they are not a match to what you posted (I'd like to find those wheels also) but are a possible alternative. http://www.bassettwheel.com/dot.html BTW, is Brisbane in Australia? Your avatar location nor profile state what country you're in.

Idle too fast
I had a similar problem with my '75z after I replaced my fuel rail hoses. The problem was that after I replaced the fuel rail assembly, the fuel pressure regulator was touching the throttle shaft, causing it to not fully return to idle. All that was required was to loosen the hose clamps on the fuel injector hoses and pull the fuel rail out just enough so that the regulator didn't interfere with the shaft. On my car, these two parts are originally very close together, so it might be somewhere to inspect.

big trucks suck a$$
Dave, does the "club" have a video camera on the parking lot that you can check out. If so, it would be worth while to take a look at for plate numbers that will give a positive I.D on who hit your car. I don't about Washington state, but in California "hit and run" is a serious matter. I'd sure be alot less upset if this happened to me and the moron that did this to took responsibility and notified me if this happened to my car. As it stands now I'd have NO MERCY on the coward! This "hit and run" crap happens way too much. I hope you have a fast and complete recovery from this.

Z Music
Hi Vicky, My 8 track AM/FM is a Clarion, model PE 617A. Does anyone know if that's a Datsun unit for 1975?
-
Z Music
Hey, I've still got the original 8 track/AM/FM radio that came with my 280z from the dealership. I'm not sure if it's "factory" or not, but it worked when I swapped it out for a cassette/AM/FM unit. I inherited my Z, so I don't know if the original radio was an add-on or stock unit.

Z Music
They're a bit soft for my liking of road tunes. To me they're more of a story teller band. Kinda like Jim Croche. I prefer to listen to them at home. How about Downchild Blues Band: Dew Drop Inn Old Ma Bell

I dunno, but I wouldn't mention Toto or The Carpenters!

4/76 Road&Track-Z spanks Porsche & AlfieR
I often wondered if R&T, or any car magazine for that matter, did a performance test of the early 280Z's. Now I know! Did the article mention if the 280Z was a California smogged car? Thanks wolf66.

New Interior Panels
I found an ebay store that sells interior panels (black only) for Z car models from the 240 to 300zx. The seller claims they are new, and from the photos they appear to be. The the prices seem to be competitive compared to MSA (plus or minus) as well. Thought this might be a good backup/alternative place for these types of items. True or False
I recieved these statistics within an email from a friend today. Can anyone in Australia validate these figures? Since we in the states don't get anything in the news concerning information like this about foreign countries, I don't know if this is factual or a myth. [it has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent!). In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!). While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding Australian society of guns."] Thanks for any claification you guys can provide!

Rancher's dilemma
A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife. She was a very good-looking woman, and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand. Two men applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk. She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied, she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk. He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching. For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well. Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a really good job and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels." The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night. However one o'clock came and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. He returned around two-thirty and upon entering the room, he found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine waiting for him. She quietly called him over to her. "Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said. Nervously, he did as she directed. "Now take off my boots." He did as she asked, ever so slowly. "Now take off my socks." He removed each gently and placed them neatly by her boots. "Now take off my skirt." He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her eyes in the firelight. "Now take off my bra." With trembling hands he did as he was told and dropped it to the floor. Now," she said, "take off my panties." By the light of the fire, he slowly pulled them down and off. Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes into town again, you're fired."

Detailing Checklist
Concerning weatherstipping. On my '75 Z the weatherstripping around the doors are a "folded" style, somewhat like a closed V or U shape. I clean inside the fold as well as pulling the weatherstripping away from the body to get to the tight places, using a damp cloth or towel. If you have an air compressor, blow out the body joints, crevices, and emblems to prevent water drip marks and to eliminate standing water in joints.
