  1. Cool stuff! I think it's great when someone finds a thread like this, especially Gary, the guy who cut up the car!! It goes to show you that we have some real Z content on this site and not a bunch of junk threads. Just being proud of our club... That said, I'm surprised the link still works from 8 years ago. Most of the other sites and threads from that long ago are moved or deleted. Gary, you should post it here in the content area and it will last forever.
  2. Mike posted a topic in South America
Okay, so, I've been to Brasil twice in the last 3 years. Each trip usually consists of visits to other cities, towns, and counties. Most of my travel has been concentrated in the lower part of the country, which is considered Southern Brasil. Anyway, from what I've seen (or NOT seen), there are no Zcars here. After speaking with a few of the locals, it appears that Nissan didn't import the Z into South America in the 70's? Some people have seen the car on TV and at various points in time, but, none of these people have actually seen one in person or driving on the streets. I've noticed that vehicles in Brasil are not cheap. You can easily double the price for cars. For instance, a simple $15k Honda Civic in Brasil will cost approximately $30-35k (in USD) at the current exchange rate (1.7R to 1USD) at the moment = ~$60k Reis. Because of this fact, I have seen a lot of older cars in much better condition. For some of the population, it's more feasible to maintain an older car than it is to buy a new one. There are, however, less people driving fixed up classic cars here. Most of the vehicles I've seen are daily drivers. Very rarely do I see any kind of hot rod driving down the street. Anyway, after saying all of that, does anyone else have experiences or know of any Z's in South America? I'd love to hear from you. Mike
  3. Very nice score on the early Z!! You'll love it, I'm sure. My advise, make sure you repair everything right the first time. Don't bother with cheap imitations, buy Nissan/Datsun brands and pay for the real Datsun mechanic (if you can't do it yourself). Mike
  4. OMG, you are in the best place to own a Z. There are tons of events in CA every year and there are hundreds of owners in your local area.
  5. Nice to have you with us!! Merry Christmas.
  6. Thank you, Kats, for bringing this topic to the club. Please also tell Mr. Tamura thank you for joining in the discussion. We are honored to be a part of the topic. The sketches and photos in this thread are beautiful pieces of important history of the Z. Mike Gholson
  7. Yep, I'm actually in Albany too. There are a bunch of members in Portland, Salem and Eugene.
  8. The stash guy rocks!!
  9. Yea, I would browse through classifieds to find out what's going on for value. datsunclassifieds.com Ebay.com (these values are usually higher than normal) craigslist.org
  10. Lots of us in Oregon..
  11. They used to be one of our sponsors... If you buy from them, please encourage those guys to help us out..
  12. Testing image upload in a forum message. Please disregard.
  13. Welcome to the site!!! There are many ways to post images of your car, try our Galleries, or even the Garages. Both can be found at the top of your screen. Again, welcome and have a good time!
  14. Don't mean to go off topic, but, OMG, I love the viewer! This is exactly what I'm looking for to display pages in a magazine. Anyone know how I can find out who wrote that software so I can buy it?
  15. Guys, I wouldn't be doing my part if I didn't encourage you to run this transaction through MSA. It's only fair to do this for both MSA and Dave, equally. Dave used to sell the harnesses direct to members, but, he formed an agreement with MSA to sell it. In my opinion, I think that means we shouldn't encourage private sales on this site. I look up to him for creating such a great product for the Z community and having the Entrepreneurial spirit to form a relationship with a company like MSA to sell his product. You'll have a great experience buying the harness and using it. And you know who the manufacturer is, so, obtaining technical support should be a breeze! Mike

  17. I don't want to hijack this thread, but, Dave *I* was the one who deleted the posts about stealing from the junkyard. $0.01 to 1MM, we don't encourage walking parts out of anywhere. It's not good for the soul.
  18. Well I guess the word "purist" is a relative term. Most of us on this site has some kind of modification. The EI modification is actually a very good one because points are/were so unreliable. I have the 280z EI swap and it's awesome. Anyway, I think you can find many helpful threads here to help you figure out the problem with your EI. Other mods may change the value of an early car depending on what was done, and I'm sure you'll see plenty of helpful responses here. But, your best value is to make sure the work is always done RIGHT. Cars with quick fix-me-ups can be seen a mile away, so, I encourage people to always do it the right way the first time.
  19. Whoa, what happened to Hybrid? Did they sell the business? Looks like a lot more ads and some interesting forum software.
  20. Mike posted a topic in 240K Skyline
Hi guys, I wasn't sure if you saw this or not, but, I just created a new all Datsun classifieds websites. If you're interested, I also added a section for the 240k. While I'm not too savvy on the market down under, I thought it might help. Mike
  21. You guys should put this in our calendar. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/calendar.php
  22. That's awesome you got the kids to help out!! Great fathers day!

Probably an ad to sell it, the guy should just put it on our classifieds. But, the paint is an interesting color. I wonder what size Panasports he's running. Any reply here on the site?
