But will he still be involved in the pressers? Today will tell. Cuomo has apparently put together a group/task force/coalition/consortium of governors of surrounding states. Doesn't seem like they have a name for it yet. It will be interesting to see how it works out and if other states join in. The United States of The Northeast. Cuomo just opened things up for other states to join. The door is open. Cuomo - New York Murphy - New Jersey. Lamont - Connecticut Wolf - Pennsylvania Carney - Delaware Raimando - Rhode Island

Cuomo's presentation this morning really was on the money as far as laying out a plan and describing how the efforts to "reopen" could go wrong. Without a vaccine, or a large number of people who have been infected and recovered, there will not be an actual "going back to normal". It just can't happen, because "normal" is what allowed the virus to infect so many people. All it will take is one asymptomatic super-spreader and a new hot spot appears. South Korea is a great example. Distancing and hand-washing and masks will be the new normal. Any relaxing of mitigation will have to be for small numbers of people with monitoring of new infections, to hold infection under the manageable level of the healthcare system. In essence, the healthcare system will turn in to a COVID-19 processing plant, with efforts to keep it at maximum capacity, to allow the economy to recover. So, if you're older and/or have underlying conditions, best to hide out for a year and a half until the vaccine gets developed. Otherwise you'll get sucked in to the processing equipment.

Direct deposit? I saw an interesting ad the other day. Mount Sinai hospital was soliciting donations for COVID-19 efforts. The $2 trillion bill that was passed was supposed to fund efforts for the battle but they are still soliciting donations. Just seemed weird. Donate your $1200 to the fight. https://giving.mountsinai.org/site/Donation2;jsessionid=00000000.app216a?idb=581985730&df_id=1480&mfc_pref=T&1480.donation=form1&NONCE_TOKEN=5C2EC2AF11E2466C50AFAA7E98A1FF64&set.SingleDesignee=2542&_ga=2.46632238.888431468.1586798782-485874325.1586798782#utm_source=mountsinai.org&utm_medium=webpage&utm_campaign=covid19research2

The White House will be back today at 5 pm Eastern time. They were quiet all weekend except for a TV phone interview and some tweets. Cuomo is also back at 2 pm Eastern with the governors of surrounding states. Probably to announce a "reopening" plan, or a coalition of governors/states. Things are shaping up. https://www.whitehouse.gov/live/

Some followup on the USS Theodore Roosevelt debacle. The Navy is expressing the need for higher volume testing also. The DOD has a budget and can fund research. Wouldn't be a surprise if their involvement sped things up. It still takes money and direction, no matter how well-intentioned people are. https://komonews.com/news/coronavirus/navy-reports-first-coronavirus-death-from-roosevelt-crew

Cuomo really puts a lot of work in to his presentations. Sounds more like a project manager with a professional degree than a politician. Each presentation is more developed than the last one. Always something new and forward-thinking.
  7. I'm learning a lot about Nissan clutches. I had assumed that the cylinders would be the same diameter but apparently they're not. ( Edit - they just put it in a different spot, it's there.) Says 35 mm... As EuroDat implied, you can have a lot of wasted movement at the rod from the foot pedal to the master. The pedal spring can hide that slop.

Funny that we're discussing the fine details of presenting data and over in England they have some pretty crazy conspiracy stuff going on. Why would 5G be worse than 4G or 3G or 2G or 1? I don't think that these people even know what the G stands for. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/12/facebook-acts-to-halt-far-right-groups-linking-covid-19-to-5g https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/apr/07/how-false-claims-about-5g-health-risks-spread-into-the-mainstream https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5G
  9. You're using the wrong words and maybe replaced or adjusted the wrong parts. The float bowls are what fills with fuel. The floats are what rise up and close the needle valve when the bowl is full. It sounds like your front float needle might be stuck closed. What year car and what carbs?

Here's the CDC site's mortality data. Looks like it might be your source. That Flourish site doesn't cite their data sources either. I'm guessing that they just used the daily death reports for COVID-19, two days worth shown below, and probably just took something like the CDC data and did some math. I don't know. My point was that without the source and the explanation of method you just don't know what anyone did. Not sure why you estimated an average to get COIVD-19 deaths.. Flourish was just showing how reported daily deaths are growing, compared to other causes of death. They calculated daily deaths and showed how the daily reported deaths had finally overtaken the other death causes, on a daily basis. It's just my nature to examine the source of anybody's claims. There are experts who post on this forum who have obvious inclinations to skew the facts to make a point. Humans are fallible. I'm not saying that you do that, just that it can happen. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/databriefs/db355.htm https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

You forgot to cite your data sources motorman. Edit - the cancer numbers in your response to the animation. You're using numbers but we can't tell where you got them. Of course, we all have the Google, but still, citations are standard practice for professionals. The Flourish people just seem to be graphics artists. They probably just picked some Google sites and cobbled together an animation. But, without sources cited, we're all in the same boat. Floating around in a sea of random numbers. https://flourish.studio/blog/

That is a good chart, at the end. COVID-19 is #1 now. Edit - See my other post below. Here are a couple more interesting articles, one about Brazil's big experiment, and another about the virus itself. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/12/bolsonaro-dragging-brazil-towards-coronavirus-calamity-experts-fear Brazil has not been affected much, at least as far as the collected data shows. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Here's the latest on what's known about the virus itself. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/12/five-months-on-what-scientists-now-know-about-the-coronavirus
  13. Good luck finding a "points plate". You probably mean breaker plate. Either way, breaker plates are almost impossible to find. If you didn't break the plastic bearing cage you should be able to reassemble it. The wire spring clip is hard to get on, but it is possible. The FSM describes taking it apart, so it is a normal thing. I thought that they used two springs on all of the distributors. But the FSM only mentions one.
  14. The 71 guys would know for sure. You're almost there by yourself though. Just figure out how the green light could come on. 71 might have a ground circuit back through the green light. Learn how the AC compressor clutch works. It's just an electrical system. You can do it. Seriously, it will be good for you. When you turn the thermostat control to the right you must be competing the circuit through the AC compressor. Just ask yourself "how can this be?"
  15. My bad. I had a 76 that I could start with my 95 Pathfinder key.

Here's another article about a state with a plan. Lays out some of the things that matter, and what they're considering and trying to make happen. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/11/washington-state-coronavirus-crisis

California got a plan in place early and avoided the mess that New York has to deal with. They're already working on how to "reopen" society. What we need is a national plan, something to look forward to. Instead of looking backward. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/10/san-francisco-bay-area-coronavirus-example-179147

Progress is being made in understanding. Hopefully there will be leadership to take advantage of it. Something more than hydroxychloroquine dreams. https://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/doctor-gambles-clot-busting-drug-save-virus-patients-70100830
  21. The keys are symmetrical. No right, no left. Edit - this is WRONG. They can be right or left and symmetrical at the same time..
  22. There's an end play spec.
  23. I've done a few bearings on a variety of cars and kind of realized that the extra grease just sits there doing nothing. Only the grease in the vicinity of the bearing does any lubricating. The rest is essentially a shield and/or a reservoir. People tend to pack the cap that sits on the front bearings but if you take the cap off 20,000 miles later the grease in the cap hasn't moved. A shorter answer is that you can kind of eyeball the area and come up with a minimum grease plan.
  24. Use a meter or a test light and see if the wire gets power when you move the lever to AC. There's only a single wire to the clutch, it ground through its mounting points, I think. Find the wire that powrs up with the lever at AC and connect it to the wire at the compressor. Couldn't find a 71 diagram, but here is 76, showing the ground circuit. Your 71 might not have the magnet valves.

Won't be a surprise if there's another few outbreaks in the United States, especially in the areas that have been making it through with low numbers. I just went shopping and it's still depressing how many people there are, young and old, who refuse to wear any type of face covering. It must be vanity, I think. Maybe combined with ignorance. The media has not done a very good of explaining how the big outbreaks like in New York, were started by one or just a few people. Super-spreaders. Who wandered around, sick, spreading the virus to other people who then also spread the virus. Before the mitigation guidelines were broadcast. I am fairly certain that many of the people I see understand how asymptomatic spread happens. But just don't care. They've traced the South Korea outbreak back to a single 61 year old woman who was sick but went to two big events. Here are three of the bigger broadcasters in the area and they don't really have much on masks. Even though the CDC recommends them. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-02-26/how-one-patient-turned-korea-s-virus-outbreak-into-an-epidemic https://www.king5.com/ https://komonews.com/ https://www.kiro7.com/
