77 at Copart
The prices on the COPART site are in $CAD So the bid of $1150 CAD is only $864 USD, but the reserve is not met yet. The listed value of $18,000 CAD is really $13,530 USD. Not knowing where the reserve is, it may still get to high for a parts car. Then add on the cost of going to get it, or have it shipped.

73 for auction in LA - Future Auction
I was thinking the same, the damage does't look to bad in the pic's. You never know for sure until you look at it in person. "Another project...!?!" I was thinking that too.......hole in the head. Might just have to "watch it" manually, just to see where it ends up price wise.

73 for auction in LA - Future Auction
Looks like a forgot to add the link....... https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/datsun/240z/2196231.html#&gid=1&pid=10 Also interesting is today it list the auction as 1-18-19 and the auction estimate is lower at $1154.00 When I click the BID NOW button it takes me to.....here https://sca.auction/en/23847905-1973-datsun-240z That site says it is not ready for sale. The second site says they are in Miami FL., and that the car is in Los Angeles. The SCA site has the usual set of rules for bidding, like a $250 fee for a membership. A $250 transaction fee, $55 documents fee, $25 yard entry fee, an auction house fee, vehicle storage fee, sales taxes, etc etc etc.... .

77 28Z in Portland only $1650
I have seen many times over where this, and other forum people indicate they are going to restore something like this. After an in person inspection, this one might just turn out to be a parts car candidate. It is priced okay for that. (I'm not looking, just sharing the ad) The seller added a new picture of a "finished dream car" to spark you enthusiasm to buy and build it. and added the "0" to the 280Z

The winning bidder only placed on bid. I often wonder sometimes if the scammers bid on their own cars if the bid price isn't high enough. They win the car back, pay themselves to complete the eBAY transaction, then sell the car again under a new user name. Lot of tricks to scamming people out of their dollars. Maybe.......maybe not. When the ad's are questionable like this one, and the voice responses from the calls are sketchy too. Makes me wonder. JMO I just search for Datsun, you never know what category people list their cars and parts under. @197TZ patients pays off, you'll find the car thats right for you. Of course, feel free to check in here for good advise and insight. Collectively we have seen and bought a lot of cars. I found mine on Craigslist, but had look for about 8 months to find the one that I was comfortable with and could afford.

Agreed these shops are just glorified car flippers, with a thesaurus of adjectives to describe the cars they flip. I am sure they will offer to help you with financing, and perhaps offer to sell you an extended warrantee. Personally I'd steer clear. JMHO

Early Canadian L24 for sale
Hi Gav240z, are you sure about that range. I have two 065XX VIN cars and the engine numbers are both in the 009xxx range. 015xxx would be much later. zKars engine was from 02744 and should have a 00xxxx block number. Perhaps you need 0015xx? I have an E31 block, number 009885 from a 70 that is available if that suits your range.

Interesting VIN number. Here's the rest of the pic's. https://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/SCT/56/1978-Datsun-280Z Lots of pictures, but a lot of redundant ones. Nice toupee on the dash. ? Viewed 7719 times.

I am interested, but I am down near Olympia WA. Any ideas how to make that work?

He had the price down to $25,500 OBO on the Cl ad, he might get that, as people do bid late. It is a no reserve auction, so it sells for the highest bid. The $19,200 is a new bidder.

Appears to be sold now. I saw it on another classified marked as sold recently, and the CL ad says deleted by author.

'70 240Z HLS30-01850 with Original Matching Engine
There are a number of older cars in the background, and a boat. Sketchy flipper is my guess too.

That is the same phone number listed in the ad as the mystery 70 from Vancouver WA I posted about 9.7.1.7.0.1.8.3.6.2

My guess is a home made coolant shut off for the carb warmer.

I agree with your observations, curious abnormalities abound. My thoughts drifted to a high milage car that has been "cleaned up" with newer parts i.e. Seats, dash, doorcards visors, etc. With that huge pile of service records there might be some evidence of these changes I mentioned, along the lines on the new bumpers The DP9 Motorsports pictures are from a dealer in NY that says the car is for sale in Oregon. Strange findings again. From their site : (they misspelled the use of the word "through") (scattered use of Capital letters) As is, it is not our fault. We are Not a Dealer, we Assist in the Coordination of the Sale Threw Our Network of Dealers or Private People. We dp9motorsports are not responsible for any damages on vehicle. Due diligence and third party inspectors are always recommended all cars are as is. Buyer is fully responsible to get the inspection. Like 26th and Namerow says, still looks like a nice car. I suppose it depends on what a buyer ultimately wants to do with it, and what price that decision is worth.

Yes welcome 197TZ (Jay), Please do relay any info you feel comfortable sharing about this car. Seems to have an interesting history. While it looks like a good candidate for a restorer or a very nice driver. About the stereo ~ at least the front speakers are not cut into the doors. Just some new kick panels to fix that. Might have to do some electrical wire repair in the center console, but that shouldn't be too bad. I don't remember seeing any pics of the inside of the rear hatch so I can't speak to any stereo mods there. Good luck with your search.

Sold from Port Angeles WA from Graymotors. Which appears to be a local used car dealer up there https://www.graymotors.com I noticed my New York area code is really 971 not 917. 971 is in Portland area. So at least all the area locations are closer together but still a little scattered. I'm not a buyer, I was just interested in the condition, and what it ends up selling for. The seller has 0 feedback, joined eBAY 01-03-19 and also has a 86 Firebird listed

I agree with Namerow the wear on the car looks more like 54000 (eBAY ad) but that can be hidden. It could be 254000 now, but I would think there would be more tell tale signs of wear. JMO The sellers phone number was in the CL ad in the first post here, a 917 area code which is from New York. The map shows NE Vancouver Wa, and the ad was in the Seattle Cl. The address was Corvallis OR in the Topcalssic ad. eBAY ad says Clackamas OR. Sits at $15,100 on eBAY now. 5 days to go......
