  2. @wheee! I believe he was referring to the shafts that go in the differential, having a right and left of different lengths.
  3. Nissan does still show them available 38225-N3100 Side Gear Circlip $2.54 each. Finding the old ones or pieces thereof might be more of a challenge. The clips are the same for all the R180's
  4. Nice find, indeed. It does look like all the emblems are shaved (hood, Pillars and hatch). Probably the fenders too. I'm with hiyabrad, if you don't buy it............
  5. I does look like 1955 was a new start for the company. Perhaps they started a new numbering system at that time, after recovering from the war devistation.
  6. My 73 has plugs on top, and open on the bottom. Both sides. I tend to agree with the production hoist / trolly theory, it looks like they would be in the right place for balance.
  7. Thanks for the confirmation Kats. A very lucky find indeed. The only booth with any Datsun parts (most are Ford and Chevy) They had a few drive train parts and misc hardware. Now to clean it up and place it in it's rightful spot in my car. Interesting to see if the date code holds true in prior years as you speculated. Need to find some older cars with jacks?
  8. @kats I found a jack at a swap meet today. Thanks to your help in this thread, I knew it was an early one. Although I could not make out the date stamp while I was there. Too much dirt and a bad stamping. I ended up buying it anyway as I talked the guy down to $10. I figured it was worth that being an early style. When I got home, I cleaned it up as best I could and think it is P F Y which would work great for me as I have a 6-70 car. and this should be 1970/6/24. The stamping is bad though, do you think I have read it right. It still needs to be cleaned up.
  9. California Datsun?!? Not sure I would trust them that it was truly NOS. They have been shady in the past. Just my opinion from hearsay, I have never bought from them.
  10. I neglected to reply after your dash sold. Looks like you ended at a good price. eBay auctions always have snipe bidding at the end when the item is good and there are multiple bidders. Well done!
  11. I was surprised as well. I was never going to use these as I have a 70 with 4 screw carbs. The PO of the 73 had bead blasted the entire carbs and said they were rebuilt, but a quick inspection indicated they were not rebuilt just cleaned up visually. I had never thought any of the flat tops were worth much for resale. I still kept them thinking some parts might be needed by someone. I would think the 180 mesh you have is closer to the stock mesh. As for the filters being unnecessary, I disagree. All cars, new and old ones have some sort of fuel filter. To each there own I guess. I might have to try these on eBay.......
  12. I never did mess around with the flat tops much. These are pretty fragile filters. Just thought I would check them out following your post. I agree with Zed Head, many other ways to filter. Quite a challenge to try and reproduce these, IMO. I can appreciate your attempt.
  13. No problem, The one close up wheel pic you showed was for a late 73 (TOPY 11 73). I was kinda looking for 70 wheels. Looks like your having a fun time with the car. Enjoy....... If you haven't already I highly suggest you download this It can answer a lot of your questions. https://www.classiczcars.com/files/file/66-1970-240z-factory-service-manual-body-chassis-volume/ and this one: https://www.classiczcars.com/files/file/20-1970-71-240z-factory-service-manuals/
  14. I am interested in the stock wheels, PM me with a price. I have some 14" turbines and slots if that is what you were thinking of for "era" wheels.
  15. Follow your dream, sell this to me, and fund your 4X4 old truck project. ? Seriously.....It is a great find, and a nice looking car from what I have seen in your pic's.
  16. Just popped up on my searches, 8/77 280Z 1 owner on Vancouver Is. 68K miles stated. Auto with a sunroof. Looks pretty stock / original. Just sharing....... https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/d/seattle-1978-dastun-280z/6812642858.html

I checked my 5/71 which has the "Series 2" style center console (ash tray in the middle) and the later style choke lever / mount. There is no bracket hanging down to mount the cable (post #22). It does however still have the earlier gas pedal with the tab on the top. (also post #22) My 72 and 73 gas pedals do not have the tab. So they must have made up a bunch of pedals with tabs then just used them up late 71 to early 72. Although they stopped spot welding on the bracket for the cable a lot earlier.

Yes the correct pedal is part of the whole set up. In all the cars I've seen, the pedal with the extra tab were left in the cars. No need to change that out when they removed the cable and lever assembly. Later models do not have the tab. My car had the bracket fixed under the dash where the cable sheath locks into place. From there the ball end of the cable hooks to the pedal tab, pulling above the fulcrum engaging the throttle.

The throttle lever was considered unsafe for the US, and the dealers had to pull the levers out of the cars before they sold. They can still be found occasionally, on eBay and the like. A guy on FB DPAN says he has a lever and knob. Not sure if it includes the mount and cable though. Repo knobs found at http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/4818298 (Out of stock currently)
  20. It appears there are extra OP parts (both discontinued) for the wires and a clip for the door. It does look like they plug right into the dash harness as mentioned above. Still there would have to be some path through the door and A pillar as you mentioned. Like adding speakers to a bare door. Some plastic or rubber grommets, and some rubber flex conduit, or the like.
  21. It looks like they mount in the lower portion of the door card, to illuminate on the ground as you step out right? These spots look appropriate as they are under the arm rest. They line up better with your other pic of the door too. I would think power would be run from the door jam push switch by the hinge, so they come on as you open the door like the interior light.
  22. There is a third piece that goes across the middle. 240's had the front turn signals mounted in those corners. The 280 had the turn signals moved up to the grill.
  23. Hi Garrett, Thanks for the info on the dash. A real shame about it being damaged, even if it is just a small crack. Especially if you are doing a show room restoration. I suppose I really can't say how it was packed from the factory, having never bought one from Nissan. My 70 has an un-cracked original dash, and I was very fortunate to find a 72 dash at a junk yard with no cracks that I picked up for a spare. I also have a few seriously cracked ones. It looks like your eBay dash is on track to sell for the price of a Vintage Dashes replacement. I hope your restoration project goes well for you. Nice that there is now a replacement source for these.
  24. If I had this in the box as shown, I would have added a nice nest of bubble wrap, or some other packing so it didn't bang around in the box. You can see where the radio mounts have been digging into the box. Just a plastic bag is no packing at all. I hope the seller packs it better to ship it.
