  1. If that is the case, then this problem would be apparent on brand new Z cars with brand new carbs. Which it is not and was not. I still hold that this is a worn part problem, either in the ball and sockets or in the carb bushings
  2. It has been snatched from me! Good luck to the new buyer!
  3. Said the pot to the kettle! HAHAAHAH You made me spit out my coffee on this one. Wife and I had a talk about this. She is saying what a rational person would say. You already have the same car. When are you going to have time to work on it. And the biggest question is this. What if the car is not complete? The true value lies in its early number, but if all the cool 69 parts are not there, then it will be darn near impossible to restore. Plus she pointed out that it will be at leat 5 years before I can have any time to do anything with it. She is talking logic, but I am wanting to buy with my heart. I will email Mr. Reagon today to ask some questions.
  4. THat is the angle I want to play with the wife... the parts are like unicorn horns... But what I would really like to do is restore it for my 5 year old. Let him see it when he is like 7 and it can be a father son project! Hell I have learned everythign I would ever want to know about Z's. I have a ton of spare parts. I am going to email him tonight after I buy my wife a bottle or three of wine.
  5. body looks complete. I wonder the condition of it under the hood and the frame rails and floorpans. working on a storage solution to this right now.
  6. Wife is interested!! She is interested!!! I have a REAL shot at this!
  7. I am seriously thinking about buying this. If my wifes head does not explode when I mention it to her. I just need a place to store all these parts. Are their any pics?
  8. I have never had a bad Fel Pro gasket, but having said that, why not use an OEM Datsun gasket. give Courtesy parts a call Courtesy Nissan in Richardson| New & Used Car Dealer Near Dallas | Service, Parts, Finance They may have an OEM gasket for you
  9. Glad to hear you got an improvement, but lets be honest. The carbs are over 40 years old. Your linkage ball and caps are worn, and mostly the bushigns on the throttle shafts of your carbs are probably worn as well. All of this adds up so a sticking throttle right at initial throttle application. I had the EXACT same problem on my car and it made taking off smoothly impossible. But I found the sure fire solution. I sent my carbs off to Ztherapy, who removes the worn bushings and replaces them with bearings! Hey also rebuild all the linkages on the carbs and CAD plate them to shiney new. When I sent them off, they were a sticky mess, when I got them back, without adjusting a thing, they were spot on perfect. Smooth gas pedal application, and felt like driving a new car. I am glad you got most of it fixed, but the truth is the bushigns in your carbs are probably worn a bit.
  10. THe screws in teh center console creep me out. A bit to frankenstein for me. but I am desperately jealous of his paint job.
  11. If I already have my struts sectioned and I am running Tokiko non adjustable inserts, can I just pull those out and put in Illumina's for a refresh? I am curious as to if the sectioning portion is the same or if the illuminas requied a different length strut tube? Thanks, I was digging through my old records and found out my struts were sectioned and Tokiko inserts were installed in 1991. I was graduating high school
  12. such a great clean little car! Good work. the interior bits may not save you any weight, but that compressor on the passenger side of the engine probably weighs 40 lbs.
  13. Congrats and welcome buddy. keep the wrenches moving.
  14. congrats on the maiden voyage... keep her rolling!
  15. This is 100% a worn throttle linkage thing. I would bet the house on it. After I replaced the linkage (with new Ztherapy SU's) my car drove exactly like any new OEM car on the market, engine running or not. I had the smoothest pedal I ever had. NO sticking ever. It may not be about lube as much as it is about suble angles and worn ball and sockets. The first thing I would do to a new to me Z car is replace all those linkages with new ones or at least new ball ends.
  16. Got that poster in my garage! LOVE IT.
  17. Those particular track officials have little to do with NEED, more WANT.
  18. I should buy this just to destoy those wheels.
  19. I think this has merit. I would add this. The people in the race can choose a set of average speeds, have a GT1 class that runs a X. A GT2 class that runs at X + 15 mph, and a GT3 class that runs at X + 30 mph. That way you avoid a procession of slow cars driving by, and passing comes into play. Getting out of the way may put you off your pace, as might passing, or getting caught in traffic. I think you idea has LOTS of merit. Rent the track and have at it.
  20. I have never seen a quote for less than 5k for my car. How are you guys finding people who will paint it for 1200!! Are you doing all the sanding priming and they are just painting. Paint costs about 800 bucks!!
  21. I do not find this to be a fault with the Z. My Z had this exact problem when I first bought it. It was quite bad actually. When I got the SU's rebuilt at Z therapy, It came back with new linkage rods on them. The cars problem were 100% gone. All of the parts were bone stock. Nothing was cut, bent, modified or any other creative bandaid. I am just saying that if the parts are in good non worn out condition, the throttle will be perfectly OEM. I would recommend calling Z therapy and asking them how much it would be for a complete set of new push pull rods with new ends on them I think if you get that, and remove all the slop, you will see your problem goes away. Moral of the story, when the car was new it did not have a sticky throttle, so return it to new.... Or you can get a lokar cable, as it work very well just as Mike said.
  22. no finer evidence will ye recieve...
  23. By any chance do you have a tach for a 71 240Z Or, "and don't laugh", dashboard that is not cracked? do you have an R180 with a 3.90 or 3.54 Gear ratio?
  24. 205/55 here as well. It is a great looking tire that clears the front and rear bodywork. I would buy another in a second.
