Starting a new project...Subaru STI Differential swap into my Z
It must be an STI rear diff, which is the R180 just like ours, the WRX diff is the R160, and it will not work in 240Z's. My bid for an STI diff fell through... back on the hunt. Huzzah! 499 shipped to my door! 2004 STI rear diff, 3.90 ratio, LSD, with 45000 miles on it. Next up is wolf creek racing out put shafts.

Exactly, I am not really sure I need a LSD, but the going rate for STI LSD's is about 450-550 bucks Throw in the WCR out put shafts and you are looking at 900 dollars for a pretty bulletproof rear end.

Starting a new project...Subaru STI Differential swap into my Z
I have replaced everything in the drivetrain except the Diff in my Z. I am going to do this in stages. First I am going to buy an R180 STI LSD differential. Already bidding on one on Ebay. Next up is the Wolf Creek output shafts so I can bolt up my half half shafts Finally after I save up a few more dollars, I will get the CV shafts form Wolf Creek to complete the conversion. I plan to take as many photos as possible. I may drop the rear suspension to replace the spring top hats. But we will see how bad the 'while I am at its get'

Repairing My Dash
I would like to try this one day, but the question is, how long will it last before the repaired portion becomes annoyingly visible.

welcome and good motoring.. These cars are addictive and never get boring. They are also a joy to work on.

Tribal elders (you know who you are) – I need your opinion.
I agree with Carl B. But it does come down to your usage and your future plans. I wanted to keep my 71 all original for a long time, before the mod bug got me. Then I changed and made it a bit of a Datsun 'best of' car. I would never drop a SBC into one, but at the end of the day you only have to answer to yourself. The rules are simple and never change. All original cars are worth more. All original cars in great shape are worth even more. The only original once phrase is overused today. I see non running rust heaps dragged not rolled out of a barn being sold for more than a fully restored car.

Here is something every Serious Z Enthusiast should be a part of!
Great work John and Greg! I just want to echo the words of Mr. Beck. To come into a one off race with a just finished car and finish 10th is stellar and speaks volumes to the quality of driver Mr. Morton is. HUZZAH!!!

Gigantic warehouse sale full of 240z parts
I want the diff GeoJoe, not the tranny. The diff was a bit higher in the auto geared Z's. That would add a bit of pep to my step.

Are horns worth it?
They are the horns that came with my triple webers.. Let me see I am pretty sure they are these exact horns. Weber DCOE Air Horn
52840.012 They say they are 1.5 inches long. That sounds about right, as I have about an inch or more room from the cover of the K&N to the inlet of the horn.

Are horns worth it?
I am running air horns under my K&N filters, they fit great....Makes getting the filter on a bit of a bear, but it can be done

Gigantic warehouse sale full of 240z parts
I asked earlier, but can you take a look to see if you have any extra R180 diffs with the auto transmission gearing versus the manual.

What Brand of Clutch Should I Buy For 240Z?
I ordered an OEM 240Z kit and sure enough it was an Exedy. I have a mild L28 on it, and she holds torque just fine.

A converstion about how much compression is too much for pump gas
Just a note, I took my car out for a drive after she sat for over a month, I have had the same tank of gas in the car for 3 months. I know sad, but I have been busy with my baby boy. This is the same tank I reported with one bottle of octane boost in it that solved my problems. I currently run the following advance curve: 10.5 degrees at 900 rpm 20 degrees at 1680 rpm 30 degrees at 2500 rpm 33 degrees max at 3000 rpm I drove around for about 30 minutes yesturday marveling at how smooth my car drives. Loved it. On the way home in 100 degree heat I mashed the throttle wide open from low rpm in second and got the familiar sound of pinging. I put it in third and floored it and again got the familiar sound. It was isolated to when get over 50% throttle opening. I have done zero rejetting on the main jets and emulsion tubes since I put the triples on the new L28...I am thinking that I may be leaning out a bit thus promoting some pinging. I am going to rejet the mains to a larger Air corrector and a larger main jet. More pieces to the puzzle.

mechanical throttle linkage, what's the problem ?
If those are fresh rebuilds inlcuding the linkages, then I predict your problem will be a think of the past. I am eagerly awaiting an update buddy;

A converstion about how much compression is too much for pump gas
I tell you what happened. My 5 year old started kindergarten. Every day I am swamped explaining why you cannot talk without raising your hand or why the teacher cannot call on you every time... Lets just say my boy is very bright, but conduct is going to be an issue.... he is 'enthusiastic'...
